Is the Nord CE's camera really that bad + CE or Pixel 4a/Realme X7 Max? Posted: 14 Jul 2021 07:58 PM PDT I was looking to upgrade from my Samsung M30. Since most phones these days are too heavy, I had shortlisted the Nord CE. I used Xiaomi for 4 years before my Samsung and was sick of MIUI, so the choices of OS were OxygenOS, Stock, or maybe Realme UI (based on recent reports). I tried the CE at a store and liked a lot of things about it, esp the light weight. But the main bugbear was the poor camera performance. The photos looked ok on the phone screen, but when checking camera samples on youtube, it performs quite similar to my much older Samsung. That is definitely not acceptable for a Rs. 25k phone. My question is, is that a limitation of the Omniivision sensor, or just software processing? I don't need the pictures to be flagship grade, but at least in the same ballpark as other midrangers like the Samsung M51, Realme X7 etc. Also the CE seems to have a lot of reports of buggy software, heating issues etc. I want a good stable OS experience (which I had with OneUI). Hence I have also now shortlisted the Pixel 4a and the Realme X7 Max (No A52 since at 190 grams its too heavy). The Pixel can sometimes be on sale at around Rs. 27k, and has a great camera, is lightweight, has stock OS. But, I've read on forums that Pixels have poor quality control that results in hardware issues after the warranty period gets over. Is that true? The Realme X7 Max comes with the Dimensity 1200 which should give smooth fast OS performance for 2-3 years (the Samsung was lagging after a year of use). Issue is the cameras give a really saturated output due to the algorithm and I prefer a closer to real image processing. Also people praise Realme UI these days but I'm not sure about the update situation. What would you recommend? Do you think the Nord CE's camera performance can be improved in the future with software updates, or is the hardware just very limited? I need to make a decision by the end of the month. Disappointing Customer Service experience Posted: 14 Jul 2021 03:53 AM PDT Hello Everyone, I know OnePlus Customer Service is not the best in the world, but I thought I would share my latest experience with them. Whilst I have had many good customer service experiences with OnePlus, especially if it is for advice, they are very helpful. However, if you need extra support or help, you about to fall into a deep, seemingly bottomless, hole. Basically, back in April (if my knowledge serves me right), I first contacted OnePlus about a charging cable that became faulty (stopped warp charging) which came with my OnePlus 8 pro. Considering I have only had this cable for less than 6 months, I thought I would ask for a replacement, since there was no sign of missue and definitely did not put it under any extreme stress. I contacted OnePlus and they said they will send out a new one, but must first escalate the case and should expect a reply in 24-48 hours. If I remember correctly, they did not come back to me for another week or two, so I contacted them back again, where I was told the exact same thing, that the case would be escalated again. Once again, around a month later, I heard nothing of them. I contacted OnePlus again, and was told that they will once again escalate my case and the operator on the live chat told me that he will personally contact me within 48 hours. Around three weeks later, he finally contacted me about the case being escalated to the order's department. I then shortly later received an email from them saying my order has been dispatched. Finally I thought I would be able to charge my phone at the speeds it said it could, instead of waiting 7+ hours for a full charge. However when the order came, only the charging brick (charging adapter) was there, not the cable which I specifically implied multiple times. I have now once again contacted OnePlus via phone, but was held up on. I then went to live chat and was told that the case will be escalated and will be contacted within 48 hours, and now I am stuck here waiting for nearly over a week. I also wish to mention that each time I have used the live chat, I have requested a transcription to be sent to my email, however no one ever sent one. I have only been sent them twice when I told the live chat operator that I have been taking screenshots of each of my chats. I really do not want to be put in the situation that I have to threaten OnePlus to get a simple charging cable replacement. Along the way, I even considered that my phone may have been faulty all along, and have tried RMAing it, to find out that it is completely fine, causing me to be without a phone for nearly a full week. I was told earlier that there was covid restrictions which are making things difficult to work around, which I completely understood, but now, I honestly do not understand what is happening there. Some people may say that this is a lot for a simple charging cable and I should have just bought one, but the fact that it broke within six months of owning it, and bought an expensive phone (for me at least), I should be treated and get equipment worthy of that price tag. Surely it would not be this hard to send out a replacement charging cable? Three months for a charging cable? [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Jul 2021 01:35 PM PDT It's funny how everything in this sub is about how bad the oneplus phones are and how oneplus is dying and how you should avoid oneplus. I know i shouldn't read this sub because it's mostly negative. I just wanted to post this to say how much i love my oneplus 8t. I've had oneplus 1, oneplus 5, oneplus nord and just got a great deal for oneplus 8t and got it. I couldn't see myself using other phones because of how good and smooth the oxygenOS is. Everytime we compare phones with my friends, they all are amazed of the quality and smoothnes and even camera (yes oneplus 8t has a great camera for someone who is not photographer and does not need the best camera in the market) I just wanted to say this if someone is thinking about bying oneplus phone. Do not read all the negativity in this sub. Oneplus phones are fast, smooth and supergood. Have a nice day :) [link] [comments]

Posted: 14 Jul 2021 02:46 PM PDT I'm just so disappointed with the direction this company has been taking and after today I'll never buy OnePlus again. I'm a person who bookmarks and saves a lot of stuff and I have (had) a lot of shortcuts on my home screens for websites that I need, but maybe infrequently. Some are too random to be categorised into my bookmarks but too important to not have saved and so I don't even know what some of them were. Long story short, my battery died earlier today and when my phone powered back on I saw that all my shortcuts have disappeared. Probably around 15 pages that were quite important, and although it's partially my fault for not being better organised, it's just not something you expect to happen. When you spend £700 on a device you don't expect it to lose things when it turns off. It's sort of like when you lose a bag / wallet and you're not sure what you had in it that was or wasn't important and that worry is more bothersome than actually losing it. I googled it to find it's a common issue others have had. Something like this is so much rarer to happen on an iPhone and in all honesty, I think after 10 years of having an Android I'll finally switch. Apologies for the rant. [link] [comments]

Getting quoted 200+ from service repair for a simple issue I want fixed Posted: 14 Jul 2021 06:44 AM PDT Sent my (in-warranty) OnePlus 7t in because it had randomly stopped reading sim cards. Waited 4/5 days and got back a crazy quotation of 230 euro+ They're trying to charge me for a new screen and back cover when both only have little mark on each and and still works 100%... I just want the phone to be able to read SIM cards again. Went on live chat and they told me they "don't do partial repairs" is this some kind of wind up? Paying an extra 200 for a mark/scratch on the bottom corner of the display when it works fine. [link] [comments]

Posted: 14 Jul 2021 05:04 PM PDT Is this phone a tmobile/metro exclusive? It seems like you can get it sim free/unlocked from the OP website and amazon. Second question is if you can get it unlocked can you unlock the bootloader for flashing custom ROMs? I know it was just released recently so there wouldnt be any. But, if the bootloader cant be unlocked this is a pass [link] [comments]
OP Nord or OP 7 Pro taking into consideration price difference? Posted: 14 Jul 2021 06:43 AM PDT TLDR at the bottom, thanks for reading! -------- Hey guys. My dad gifted my a Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite 6 months ago and it just died - fried motherboard and high levels of moisture despite me never dropping it in water. D*ck knows, maybe just bad luck, but I have decided I don't want to cheap out on durability for my next purchase as I like to use my phones for 3-5 years. I stumbled upon OnePlus a few days ago when I started researching, and the praise OxygenOS receives really attracted me - I hate the bloated software of Xiaomi, Huawei, Samsung, etc. In addition, OP seems (seemed?) to make relative affordable phones while maintaining high quality, which is what we're all after, right? Anyways, I can't afford the OP 8's and 9's, while in my country I only found 6's being sold used, which is a no-no for me, since I have no idea what these phones have been through. This left me with two options: The Nord for 280 euros, and the OP 7 Pro currently discounted at 380 euros down from 550. Mind you, being from Eastern Europe, this is still a lot of money in my country. The only 3 obvious advantages to me of the Nord are a bit larger battery, 5G and longer software support. Everything else seems to be in favor of the 7 Pro. Regardless, I don't play games and don't care about amazing photos so I'm not sure how justifiable the 36% difference is. This is why I'm asking you for some opinions. Would you say the 7 Pro is worth it considering my priorities? TL;DR: I'm in between the Nord and the 7 Pro (36% more expensive). I don't care about games and amazing camera, I value durability and longevity. Is the more expensive 7 Pro justified in this case? [link] [comments]

Best Pixel Like Custom ROM for OP7 pro Posted: 14 Jul 2021 11:47 AM PDT I have been using a multitude of custom ROMS on my phone POCO F1 but as that phone was banged up in an accident, my brother gave me his old 1+7 Pro as he bought ROG 5 pro for himself. I'm really into custom roms, rooting and using OC kernels. Previously I was using something called Awaken OS that's made for Xiaomi phones mostly and NoGravity Kernel made only for POCO F1 and 1+3t. I have 2 questions that I'd like to ask experienced users such as you to shed some light upon Best custom ROM(in your personal opinion) which has best balance between stability/features/support/quicker update and pixel like feel (pixel launcher/gestures) Also if there is any custom kernel that when rooted allows users to overclock and underclock on demand with help of a simple quicktile TIA [link] [comments]

Oneplus plastic film protector Posted: 14 Jul 2021 07:22 AM PDT Hi just wondering if anyone knows if the plastic film that comes with the 8t are available on eBay or something? As they fit well and my experience with tempered glass isn't good they either don't fit well or I break them by trying to get rid of air bubbles any help or advice would be appreciated thank you. I got a McLaren 5G for $400 brand new and so far it's good on Android 11... What's the problem? Posted: 14 Jul 2021 08:23 AM PDT What issues am I supposed to be looking for or running into? In fact I also had a 7T before this and was also on Android 11 and it ran fine. The only thing I noticed is the not so good battery life but I think that's standard gripe about the McLaren. I opted into getting this over the OnePlus 8 because of the design and I am well aware that I'm losing out on updates eventually. I got about 3 weeks still to make up my mind if I should keep this phone... What's your advice? [link] [comments]

Posted: 14 Jul 2021 06:53 AM PDT Hey ! I'm considering buying the OnePlus watch , Is there anyone in here who had an experience with it? So my only questions if its good enough for my needs, i heard its too "unsmart" for some people but my usage isn't that serious.. all i want from it the battery , that i hear its good and that's real important to so i wanted to ask is it realy 1 week while paired with phone? Anyways my usage is mostly for it to be paired with the phone and getting the notifications to the clock without any bugs like i can see only the last message and not all the messages i got and the ability to reply to them . Does it stand my requirments? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Jul 2021 04:33 AM PDT Any idea where I can still buy the OnePlus 6 official cases? They are all out of stock on the official OnePlus (India) website. I'm using a red OP 6 with a red liquid silicone case officially offered by OP. However it is starting to break from the bottom edges and I would like to replace it with a new one. Any other suggestions are welcome too. I usually don't use any cases but I have literally broken every phone I've got that has had a glass body and this is actually my spare phone. I don't want to break this either but I don't like cases because they take away the premium feel of the phone which is a no go for me. Liquid silicone felt premium which is why I chose this case. But I'm not able to find one anywhere online. If anyone knows where to get one? [link] [comments]
