But will it have a full size start menu like Windows 10? Posted: 01 Jul 2021 06:23 PM PDT Windows 11 looks great and all but there is 1 feature without which I honestly can't live. My desktop is typically completely empty. I use it to store temporary files, but that's about it. I've found that having all your shortcuts in the start menu and it being full screen is optimal. Not only can you call the start menu from anywhere by just clicking start (without having to minimize anything, or search for anything), but it also opens apps in one click, as opposed to 2. I would really appreciate it if I can get my windows 10 full size start menu on Windows 11. Another thing I'd like to touch upon is Microsoft accounts. Simply put I will not upgrade if I'm required to have a Microsoft Account to create a local user account. I will also not upgrade if the lack of such account works, but restricts basic functionalities, the clearly don't need an account. [link] [comments]

Does this mean I won't be able to update to 11 FOR FREE FOREVER on my i7 laptop? Posted: 01 Jul 2021 07:49 PM PDT I ain't sure Microsoft's attitude of users who don't pay much, is there a possibility that this restriction will be removed for some time after release? Of course I know there're some ways like ghosting that can finish the job, but that costs money, as I already own Windows 10. [link] [comments]
I think this question might help a lot of people… Posted: 01 Jul 2021 10:12 PM PDT Hello fellow Windows users! I have a computer running on an UNACTIVATED Windows 10. I wanted to know when if Windows releases a free upgrade from Windows 10 to 11, will the non activated Windows 10 users be given the opportunity to upgrade? [link] [comments]
I used the registry to force the taskbar onto the left side of the screen. It... almost worked Posted: 01 Jul 2021 03:43 PM PDT https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/57280-change-taskbar-location-screen-windows-10-a.html#option3 Using the instructions in this link I forced the taskbar onto the left side of the screen. It loaded up fine the start button was at the top most left of the screen, but then the whole thing flashed and the start button disappeared and the desktop flashed as explorer restarted. Then it repeated that whole process until I ran the backup registry file I had made. Which I was only able to find using the file search through the old windows 10 start menu I forced into 11 via registry again (https://www.lifewire.com/classic-start-menu-in-windows-11-5189891). I really would like to find a way to force the taskbar onto the left side of my screen again. I've had it there for years and am adamant that its a better place for the taskbar on a large wide screen monitor. Anyway wanted to see if anyone had any ideas for solutions for moving the task bar? Or at least see if anyone wants to commiserate around the lack of choice now. [link] [comments]

Issue with recognizing other storage on W11 - Surface Go Posted: 01 Jul 2021 09:03 PM PDT Anyone else having issues on W11 with it not picking up your SD card in "other" storage. It only picks up my internal. It's weird. I literally needed my SD card to install W11 cuz I only had 7gb free of storage internally and now on W11 it's like it doesn't even recognize that I have an SD card installed. [link] [comments]
