It's friday. Lets discuss entertainment apps. Name three favorite entertainment android apps. If it's not too much trouble include briefly why do you like them so much.

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 03:28 PM PDT

    Name: Podcast Republic

    Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.itunestoppodcastplayer.app

Info: I find it to be the best podcast app in terms of features and user experience. Having discovered podcasts at the end of last year, I am fascinated with this medium. As someone who loves to read, PR offers a very intuative interface to listening podcast for entertainment (history, science, sociology, psychology, conspiracies, privacy - whatever rocks your boat).

    Name: Joey for Reddit

    Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=o.o.joey

Info: After roughly 5 years of Sync PRO I wanted to see if there is anything better out there in the reddit app scene. To me Joey was it, it has a very fluid interface, multiple options for setting it up how you want and built in text to speech support. Text to speech support is awesome for me when ever I'm cooking. Just find a interesting lenghty post or comment and Joey can easily read it to you.

    Name: Calm

    Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.calm.android

Info: Calm is one of the most versatile and content packed mindfulness apps. It has guided meditations, calming music (the music is okay but I mostly really just like the mindfulness content) and explanations of various mindfulness techniques and what's behind them. Among these apps, Calm is a strange beast for me - it offers a medium for entertainment that can also offer positive effect on your everyday life.

[DEV] LockChain (Beta) | The Multi-layer App Locker

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 08:10 AM PDT

Hi there! I have developed a new app locker for Android and am looking for Beta testers.

Do you use an app locker? If you do, how safe you think your data are inside the little device in your pocket? Do you want to further enhance security and your privacy?

The app is called LockChain. Existing app lockers usually provide one layer of protection only. LockChain allows you to set up multiple layers of locks.

Another security flaw of existing app lockers is that passwords can be bypassed by using fingerprint authentication. This might be convenient but is less secure - someone can gain access using your fingers when you are unconscious or sleeping. LockChain forces a sequential authentication process to maximize the security of your apps and privacy.

    Features:

    • Multi-layer, sequential authentication
    • Smart app detection
    • Prevention of killing/uninstalling of the app locker
    • Password reset via security answers

    Lock Methods Available:

    • PIN
    • Text Password
    • Fingerprints (on devices that support fingerprint auth)

Security is the top priority of this app. Passwords and Security Answers are hashed and stored locally inside an encrypted storage in your device.

Feel free to kindly leave a feedback, thanks a lot!

Are there any apps that will chromecast but allow audio to be played locally (like LocalCast)

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 09:13 AM PDT

I want to cast media on my phone to my TV, but I want to use the headphones for my phone to listen as the TV doesn't have bluetooth and I don't want to run a long cable from the TV to the couch.

I understand localcast has a 'route audio to phone' function which sounds great, but frankly after looking at the reviews of that app, I'm not really sure I want to touch that.

I could buy some kind of hardware adapter to take the audio signal from the TV's headphone out and convert it to a bluetooth signal that my headphones could pickup but I'm not really sure how I'd set that up exactly and I don't really want to have to buy extra hardware when I have headphones that already work with the phone which is what's actually playing the media that has the audio, and the chromecast which works fine, just seems unnecessary.

Looking for a keyboard app. Better alternative for swiftkey

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 02:10 PM PDT

I used to love swiftkey but the new update is meh. Looking for something a privacy focused keyboard. So far florisboard seems nice but i really miss 2 features from swiftkey which are 1. Emoji prediction and 2. I wish long-pressing backspace would clear word by word like swiftkey does instead of letter by letter.

    Addictive building game F2P

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 03:07 PM PDT

    Hi,

That's maybe weird but I'm looking for what people hate.. A building game with timers, that kill time during the day. The ones I've done and got to the point of no return are SimCity Build It, My Cafe, Simpsons, Fallout Shelter, Hay Day, surely more.

I'd like please, recommendations on new game of that's kind. New to Android (switch from iPhone) so if you have and tips, I'm all ears.

    Thanks in advance,

    Alexis

    Stop charging at 100%?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 06:01 AM PDT

I'm looking for an app that can stop charging the phone when it reaches 100% during the night, so it doesn't damage the battery. When it reaches 100% it should just stop charging and let the battery go down.

Is this even possible? I mean the charger is still gonna be plugged into the phone so I don't know if it can even stop charging at all.

[DEV] Heynote - Wallpaper notes app

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 02:03 PM PDT

    Hello everyone,

Heynote is an android app that allows you to write your notes, lists and graphics on your wallpapers(home and lock).

    Heynote features :

●Create notes and add them to your home and lock screen wallpapers.

●Use a solid color wallpaper or pick your favorite from storage.

●Fully customize your notes(font family, size and color)(notes color, size and place anywhere on your wallpapers).

●Create categories and add them to your wallpapers as to-do lists.

●Add images and graphics from storage(with ability to resize and replace anywhere on your wallpapers)(premium version).

And many more features coming in future updates.

Difference between Heynote and widgets apps :

●Add your notes to lock screen wallpaper.

●Resize and place your notes anywhere on your wallpaper, without any size or place limits.

●Heynote is faster, more customizable and easier to use than widgets and your notes will always catch your eyes each time you check your phone, or simply have beautiful quotes and graphics on your wallpapers.

I would very much appreciate and love to know your honest feedback and suggestions to help me improve Heynote.

    Thank you so much.

    reliable caldav sync

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 10:10 AM PDT

I have a caldav server (Horde) and I'm trying to sync the calendar reliably to the phones of the family members.

We have tried almost all tha available apps and now we are using Davx5 but that's also not reliable. It randomly stops syncing. It doesn't sync random events, etc. etc.

    I'm quite fed up.

    Any working ideas?

The phones are different products with different Android versions.

Any idea is appreciated (I'm also open to buy a rock solid sync app).

Samsung Health calorie burn is WAY too high.

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 11:23 AM PDT

I used the Samsung Health exercise tracker for the first time today. I also have an exercise app on my Samsung watch that connects to my external heart rate monitor. I usually burn around 600 calories in a workout. So I set the calories burned to 600. I wasn't even half way through my workout and SHealth was telling me I'd reached 600 calories and met my goal. The app on my watch gave me 300 calories (which would be correct). Any ideas on fixing this? I don't want to just double my goal bc Samsung is roughly doubling my actual calorie burn.

On screen buttons for games with no button customization.

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 11:14 AM PDT

Hey guys, I play pes21 on android but there is an issue that the buttons are not fully customizable, you can change the size and nothing else. So, I was wondering if there is any app that gives you on screen keys which you can map on the in-game keys and place the on screen keys where ever you want. So that you can play any game using four finger claw grip.

Google my Maps like app where a group can change the appearance of previously saved points ?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 10:50 AM PDT

    Hi,

is there an map app where i can save custom points in a map and share them with others and where i and the other people can change the color or the symbol of the point? I tried Google my Maps but there you can change the look of the points only in the web version of it, not in the app.

Basically i want to send people to places to check something there and then they change the color of the point, so i know he is checked. Unfortunately it must work on iOS as well...

    Thanks

Android email client with native ability to block tracking pixels?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 01:16 AM PDT

    Hi,

Looking for the app outlined in the title.

I hate people tacking when I open email.

You can achieve this in the stock email client by disabling automatic image loading.... but that makes reading normal email hard (coworkers commonly embed content as images).

Is there any email client that has some more selective tracking pixel blocking as a core / native functionality? Would also need to it to integrate with Gmail.

Looking for an app that can block a call, but let the voicemail through.

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 05:29 AM PDT

I work in Home Care. There is a client that is calling non stop to one of our care managers. We need them to be able to leave voicemails, but want to block the specific number from ringing the phone. Is there a way to accomplish this with a free app or a cheap one time fee rather than a subscription service?
