Posted: 30 Jun 2021 12:14 PM PDT I am about to go into college and am looking for a laptop. My major is mechanical engineering so I will need my laptop to run CAD software and other 3D modeling software. I would prefer windows over Mac and am looking for something in the 1000-2000 price range. Also I am not a fan of a tablet laptop combination thing. I have a very vague knowledge of computer terms. I was thinking about the dell XPS 15. What are your thoughts. Thanks. [link] [comments]

Equivalent of Dell Latitude 5510 but different brand Posted: 30 Jun 2021 11:56 AM PDT Hi I am currently researching which laptop to buy, and the current frontrunner is the Dell Latitude 5510. I was wondering if someone knew of something that is broadly similar in terms of price/performance but from other manufacturers. I'm a bit of a novice in this area and my days there are a lot of different laptops out there! Thanks for your help! [link] [comments]

The CPU on my laptop got fried(so says the technician). Any chance of me being able to fix it? Posted: 30 Jun 2021 11:02 AM PDT I own a Dell Inspiron 3543 (pretty basic general purpose PC, with an Intel Core i3 5005U, 4 gigs of DDR3L 1600MHz, running Windows 10. Recently, a power surge on our power lines here caused it to shut down, and it never booted up since. It took me a month to actually get it to a repair guy, who after a week, told me yesterday that my CPU got shorted and some other surface mounted components are fried. Is it as good as dead, or can I do something to fix it? Suggestions for new laptops under $500 for general purpose use will be gratefully appreciated. [link] [comments]

Why do dead pixels keep appearing then disappearing? Posted: 30 Jun 2021 10:51 AM PDT Back In January, I got a new laptop monitor/screen. Not even 2 weeks after getting it, a line of dead pixels appeared in the top-middle of the screen and worked its way to the edges. I left the laptop alone for hours at a time, only powering it on to check if the pixels were still there. Every time I turned it on, more pixels disappeared until none were left. Now, a few months afterwards I noticed some dead pixels at the top-middle of the screen. They went away as soon as I turned the laptop off an on. Now, today I accidently hit my laptop screen. The area where I hit it had dead pixels, having a width of around 2 middle finger nails, and having the height of an index finger nail. In a panic, I turned the laptop off and on. The pixels had disappeared, but there is a mark where I initially hit the screen along with a diagonal line, the size of roughly one third of the laptop screen. I don't understand why pixels keep appearing, then disappearing when I turn the laptop back on. Does anybody have an explanation for it? Thanks. [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Jun 2021 09:25 AM PDT hi, does anyone have asus zenbook duo ux482? I have observed that the second screen is a little higher than the rest of the notebook on its left side compared to the right. Does anyone else have this problem? HP pav15 eq1137AU or Acer Aspire A515-45? Posted: 30 Jun 2021 09:01 AM PDT Is this worth getting the ryzen 5 5500u over the ryzen 5 4500u? The ryzen 5th gen costs 14% more. Note that, the model of the 4th gen ryzen is hp pav15 eq1137AU and the 5th gen ryzen laptop is acer Aspire A515-45. Which one will be a better buy? [link] [comments]
Looking to expand internal storage by adding another SSD to my Eluktronics Max 15. Posted: 30 Jun 2021 08:52 AM PDT As the title states, I'm looking to get another internal SSD for my Eluktronics Max 15. That said, there's many different kinds of PCIe M.2 NVMe SSDs on the market and I want to make sure I don't accidentally get something that's incompatible with my machine. Will any PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD work or is there something else I should consider before buying? [link] [comments]
