Any app/way to show all walks/trips on a map at once?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 04:11 AM PDT

Google Maps app shows the walking on the map for each single day. Is there any app or any way that can show all of my walks/trips on a single map?

For example I want to see what all places I walked during last 1 year or 2 years. Is it possible to see on the maps at once instead of seeing day by day.

    Hiding pictures in Google Photos?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 10:19 AM PDT

So I've got a few NSFW pics I took recently of my wife.

My kid likes to look through my photos/videos every so often and I'm sure she'd rather not see her mom in some compromising positions.

How do I password protect them / move them out of view - but still keep them safely backed up in the Google cloud?

New way to set an Alarm. Designed to be simple and it is hopefully better too.

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 12:06 PM PDT

Years ago when I was a proper rookie in Android Programming, I intended to make an app that includes an alarm clock. Since back than I had no proper experience all that android modules that I had to use started to cost me a lot of time for learning and developing. Due to some term papers to finish, group projects to participate and exams to get ready, I abandoned the project over time. Years later I decided to finish the work that I wanted to do years ago. One thing I realized after this and many other experience in programming, since the frameworks needs to support various different case and work in different circumstances, they are sometimes quite complicated to work with. For the same reason it can be time consuming and hard to grasp to make an app as simple as an alarm clock , especially for the new beginners like back than I was.

So I wanted to contribute to the community by creating SmplrAlarm library which sets an alarm clock with certain limits but considerably easier way. SmplrAlarm deals with all necessary modules, permissions etc. so you can have more time to focus on other parts of your app. I hope it makes things easier and better for many beginners as well as professionals. Enjoy!

I was looking for a quotes app with authors and references in playstore but it was hard to find such app, so i made one (in 5 months) and published it on playstore

    Posted: 03 Jun 2021 09:17 PM PDT

For the quotes , the most important thing is its authenticity. I have seen many apps ignoring this and listing quotes that has either no reference or author. Secondly majotity of the quotes app really lack the simplicity and users have to work around to share the quotes to social media as photos or text as captions for later use.

So i decided to take things in my hand and started developing the perfect quotes app inspired from many existing designs specially fig.style with the aim to allow users Rich yet simple Experience, Minimalist Design, Authentic Content with Multiple level of information starting from quote its author and reference and going as deep as the quotes from a specific book with authors biography.

I present you the Quotes Daily , a perfect quotes app for everyone, with over 10,000 quotes database along with authors and references, super easy share options with swipe to share as image with multiple colors combo selection or text.

I am looking forward to your valuable suggestions and reviews :) i hope you will love it by the looks of it and by the work of it. Have a blessed morning :)

Hey, I'm wondering if there's an app or settings or something. That allows me to block apps from accessing my data from my sim. I have this app that's not allowing me to have some features that I would otherwise have because I bought a different SIM at the location to which I am deployed.

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 12:10 AM PDT

    Hello everyone!
I want to present my first "usable" application for android. It calls "Where is ma car".
The idea of the application is for saving the location of your parked car, go away and when we lost, we have an easy way to find it back.

I know that google maps have a similar option, but here I want to learn more about development application with newest technologies.

    Application using:

    • React Native - for ui and main logic
    • Android Room - for store information about saving places
    • My own implementation of i18n (available langs is english and polish)

    Application URL : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.dasiek.whereismacar

I will be grateful for any feedback :)

App that warns me that I'm using mobile data

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 08:04 AM PDT

Is there an app that gives an alert when I'm using mobile data excessively? I can set a low daily threshold of 50Mb for example. If it constantly nags me after the threshold, it would be better.

Today, I accidentally used up 500Mb of my data plan because I was browsing memes and videos, and I thought I was on Wifi.

EDIT: After googling, I found the Glasswire app suits my needs.

What's your opinion on an app to personalize the web? An app to explore, read and follow contents from the web. I launched Arna Feed for this purpose. Would love to hear what you guys think!

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 04:32 AM PDT

I love reading, but not books, I love to read articles on topics I'm interested in, so I reading a lot of articles on a lot of websites and blogs.

Several years ago I thought about an app to follow my favorite blogs in one place and keep updated about them without visiting them every day for updated posts (a lot of blogs), so I developed Arna Feed to do this for me.

With Arna Feed you can search for every website or blog that has an RSS feed and follow it, or explore personalized stories on topics that interest you.

Check it out on Google Play

    Thanks.

Is there any app where I can edit run/walk trace later?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 09:05 AM PDT

I used Strava and Runkeeper, but too often happens that I forget to turn off tracking and it records also my drive home, which makes the tracking half-useless. I wonder why developers don't add option "turn off tacking if your speed is more than x km/h". Ironically even when I finish at home and let the any app run without moving the phone, it just gathers more distance by inaccuracy of the GPS.

Is there any android app where I can later discard part of the tracing?

What is an app that will give me notifications from google calendar on time but is independent of google play services?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 07:28 AM PDT

I don't need a two way sync, however I need notifications in real time. I've scourged the internet for the whole of the past week and this is my last resort.

Now the problem is i have an ungoogled phone (Putting Gplay services with Open Gapps Pico makes it unusably slow as it has only like 3 GiB of RAM and is 6 years old at this point) and so I cannot install the Google Calendar app.

I tried Todoist but it isn't what I was looking for. This and this proved to be quite useless as they refused to work without an already existing install of Google Calendar.

I just want an app where I can "integrate" it with Google Calendar and just receive notifications when google calendar is supposed to play the notification.

If this is so impossible, I want an alternate calendar that will work independent of google play services but will have the sweet calendar blocks part of google calendar and should be free.

I've tried setting up nextcloud but it was too complicated and a HUGE headache demanding the kind of time I don't have.

If you are wondering, yes the phone is rooted.

Seeneva - smart comic book reader. ML powered speech balloons zooming.

    Posted: 03 Jun 2021 03:18 PM PDT

    Hi everyone!

I would like to tell you a little about my dream project I've been working on for few years. The name of the project is Seeneva and it is fully open sourced under GPLv3 or later license Android comic book reader. But it's not that simple :)

I was trying to develop an app that would make it easier to read comic books on mobile devices. That's why I developed the smart speech balloons zooming feature. The app uses trained Machine Learning model to find almost all speech balloons on each comic book page. This allows you to easily zooming and navigate through speech balloons with a touch of a finger. Check this gif animation to see it in action.

In addition the app allows you to use Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to recognize text on founded speech balloons and spell out it using Android Text-To-Speech (TTS). It supports only English language right now. My main goal here is to allow users to use Seeneva something like "audio" comic book reader :) Also I'm planning to use OCR for smart translation speech balloons text to another languages. But right now it is only a plan for the future.

    Short list of features:

    • Smart speech balloons zooming.
    • Speech balloons OCR and TTS.
    • Supports CBZ (.zip), CBR (.rar) with limitations, CB7 (.7z), CBT (.tar) and PDF comic book archives.
    • Supports different image formats on any Android device.
    • View ComicRack metadata (from ComicInfo.xml file).
    • Supports Left-to-Right (LTR) and Right-to-Left (RTL) read directions.
    • Supports Android 4.1+ and all available Android ABIs arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64 and x86.
    • Smart functionality performs locally on the device.
    • Libre application under GPLv3 or later license.
    • No ads, no personal data collection.

Of course, there's no magic and current version (0.1.0) of the Seeneva has some bugs and limitations. The main here is limitation of CBR support. Some CBR comic books can be opened incorrectly or not opened at all. For now you can fix such comic books by repacking it into a new CBZ or another CBR archives. Please read more about known app issues on project GitHub.

Also you can help me to make it better by opening a new GitHub issue if you catch a bug or translating the app to new languages. Make Seeneva better together!

I hope you will enjoy the app. Happy reading! :)

Any cloud photo auto-backup apps like Google Photos but is FOSS or respects privacy?

    Posted: 03 Jun 2021 09:53 PM PDT

As of now, Google Photos (that I know of) is one of the best cloud backups for photos. I'd like to have any recommendations/alternatives you have for something similiar but is FOSS or just respects privacy. Preferably if it is free and easy to setup. Thanks!

Is there any, I mean ANY, way to use MS Teams on Android 4.4.4?

    Posted: 03 Jun 2021 09:06 PM PDT

My cousin's tablet broke, physically, after his sister crashed the thing against the floor(she's a little girl that spends half her life falling, was not a malicious act). Because of the damn pandemic my uncle can't afford an expensive tablet, so he bought a cheap Galaxy Tab E(T561), and it won't run.

The app is not available for that version of Android, and won't load on Chrome or Opera explorers.

If you have ANY ideas/solution, please do. The kid needs it for school.

PS: We are Central Americans, tech is more expensive in compared to how much money we make. So the cheapest the solution, the better.

One app that encrypts all your mailboxes

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 05:35 AM PDT

Privacy of online data is already a known enough issue for most users, but encryption is often a quite complicated subject to dive into. If you want to encrypt your emails (so that only you and your recipient have access to the email content) but don't know where to begin, try MeSign app.

MeSign - Encrypted Email Client - Apps on Google Play

All you need to do is download the app and log into your email account (you can add as many as you want). The emails you send will be automatically encrypted by default. MeSign safely stores cryptographic keys on the cloud for you to easily obtain and exchange automatically with other users any time. Your emails are stored on your email server in cipher.

Try and let me know what you think.

    FOSS Android FTP Client?
