    Crashing Error

    Posted: 23 Mar 2021 07:44 AM PDT

I own a Redmi Note 7, and most of my apps have been crashing since 3/22. If anyone has the same issue, go to Play Store --> Android System Webview --> Uninstall. It should fix it.

Battery Life On Mi 10T Is Amazing!

    Posted: 23 Mar 2021 10:14 PM PDT

Anyone else disappointed that F3 and X3 Pro doesn't comes with even IP53?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2021 09:57 PM PDT

I'm deciding to sell my poco x3 nfc for a small lose and upgrade to F3 or X3 pro due to the flagship grade 800 series cpu and ufs 3.1 but realized xiaomi didn't included any IP ratings.

I did it, I've ordered the k40 pro. Might be worth considering over the op9 for some of you too

    Posted: 23 Mar 2021 10:29 PM PDT

Honestly, even the k40 would have been good enough and way better value but I like I having the top end soc when I upgrade.

Last year I upgraded from my op6 (loved this phone) to the oppo ace2 cause to my disappointment the op8 didn't have a flat screen, the op8t wasn't even announced yet, and the poco f2 pro was only 60hz. I actually upgraded to the red magic 6 before that but promptly sold it cause the battery life was bad and the phone was too bulky to one hand comfortably. I love my ace2 and coloros 8 (more than oxygenos surprisingly) but I hate that it's the chinese rom and that there's no global/na/eu rom.. the chinese bloat and the strange quirks that come with all the chinese system apps drive me crazy.

With that said, I was set on getting the OnePlus 9, especially after finding out it would get a flat screen! The cameras seem great for its price bracket but I don't really care that much about the camera and the biggest disappointment for me was the price tag, especially the inflated canadian one.. the k40 pro literally costs 300 usd less from giztop (and that's including the 50 usd extra giztop is charging on top of retail price).

I wanted to get the op9 but much to my disappointment there's no macro lens, no ltpo so no dynamic 1-120hz adaptive refresh rate, mrwhosetheboss antutu tests show it throttling more than the k40 pro, etc. The body weight and size is almost the same as the k40 pro but the k40 pro actually has a larger screen, and much better screen to body ratio. I could care less for the 15w wireless charging. I have no way to use the phone while it's sitting on a wireless pad or dock and it would take forever to charge. The 65w charging is nice and it's charging to fill in around 39min from what I've seen but the k40 pro still chargeds to fill at a decent 53min. The cables and charging adapters will be cheaper too at least. I by no means am under the impression that the k40 pro is a better phone, without a doubt the op9 is better, but the price to me does not justify the small pros.. and there are even several cons to getting the op9 over the k40 pro. If the price difference was only 100-150usd I would pick the op9 over the k40 pro but I've decided to give the k40 pro a chance cause I know I would appreciate the larger screen size a lot, and the cheaper price tag. The availability of the xiaomi eu roms (custom debloated china roms basically) solves the issue I had with my oppo ace2, and this should in theory be a perfect phone for me apart from it not having a headphone jack.

Things I'd like to see in the future in the successor:

    • holepunch camera in the corner. It's so much less noticable there in games, videos, manga, web comics, basically any full screen app, etc.

    • a headphone jack + a good dac. Include a jack at all please. I thought I'd be ok using a usb dac but it's so annoying and inconvenient.

    • faster charging. 50-65w charging would be great.

    • better battery without significantly increasing the phone footprint. Something like an upgrade to 4700-5000mah in the same footprint by reducing the size of other internals or just better optimized firmware to prolong screen on time would be great. I don't want something chunky like the red magic phones to get better battery though.

    • matte back finish. Glossy ones attract too many fingerprints.

    • this one is a bit of a hail mary but would make the phone stand out quite a bit. Sapphire screen or whatever you call it. Way more scratch proof than gorilla glass 6/victus. This would blow my mind to have on a phone. I know a few phones are already getting this.

    • keep the screen flat, bump it up to 1440p and make it ltpo for dynamic 1-120hz adaptive refresh rate. That would be cool as heck. Nicer speakers would be a huge plus too in my books.

I'm sure a lot of these things would drive the price up but I don't mind paying more if it's worth it. I just hope that we don't get another op9 repeat where they price is higher but it isn't really worth the increase.

    Alarm not working... sometimes

    Posted: 23 Mar 2021 10:15 PM PDT

I'm a light sleeper but I'm paranoid about sleeping in so I always set three alarms just in case. The first time I slept in was on the day of a test, I blamed it on uni from home and not having a good sleep schedule even though it had never happened to me before. Since then it has happened some other times but like once every two months, so I always thought something was wrong with me this year.

On Monday I slept in again and now I'm paranoid, I wake up every 40 minutes and guess what, today I was awake before any of my alarms and NONE OF THEM MADE A SOUND.

Thank goodness I also started setting my tablet alarm because otherwise I wouldn't have woken up today. Has anybody experienced this?

Edit: I just set an alarm to ring in one minute and then when I pressed OK suddenly three notifications indicating the three missed alarms appeared, it's as if the app was sleeping or something.

Is it possible to sync Xiaomi Tasks?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2021 12:48 PM PDT

The Xiaomi Notes app can sync with Mi Cloud but I do not see anywhere where the tasks are synced. The Xiaomi website does not even show a Tasks icon

It's really weird they wouldn't make that an option.

    Is it just me?

EDIT - I am using a Redmi K30 Pro Zoom with MIUI12 and its most recent update

How to flash a custo ROM step-by-step

    Posted: 23 Mar 2021 03:44 PM PDT

    Hello!

I recently bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro and I don't like MIUI a lot. So I searched for solutions and I read that you could install custom ROMs on it. I'm on MacBook, and most tutorials are for windows. Does anyone of you know the entire process? You have no idea how much I'll appreciate it, thanks! <3

Stock Firmware for redmi note 9 pro Italian version

    Posted: 23 Mar 2021 03:41 PM PDT

    Hello everyone.

I was wondering, if anyone would know the stock Firmware for the Italian version of the redmi note 9 pro?

I am going to try using an edl cable to put my phone into edl mode and flash the stock Firmware from there.

PS: I have looked around and I can't find the firmware for the Italian version of the phone.

    Posted: 23 Mar 2021 03:38 PM PDT

I haven't dropped it but sometimes im just texting on whatsapp or scrolling down tiktok and the screen doesn't detect any touch. I have to lock it and unlock it so the glitch stops. It happened a few times before the 12.0.6 update so i dont know if its that but after updating it has gotten worse. I fixed the msa and webviewer error but its still happening

    Security app

    Posted: 23 Mar 2021 03:32 PM PDT

Is it just me or is the security app a bit weird. I have a 10t and when I go to battery usage in the app it shows weird numbers over one hour, for example 4462 mah/89% usage in one hour. It wasn't like this in my redmi note 9 pro. Is there something I'm missing? The battery itself is fine as the phone is barely 2 weeks old.

How is the xiaomi redmi note 10 ?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2021 12:48 PM PDT

Hello ! So, first: context. My Iphone 8 recently died and I don't have enough money to buy a new Iphone (excepted for a refurbished Iphone 8 but I don't want to spend all my money to have the exactly same phone that I had before) so I'll have to give a new chance to Android. Consequently, I made a few searches about Android Skins and the only ones that seemed pleasant were Samsung's One UI and Xiaomi's MIUI. So, for each brand I found one phone that fit what I search: Samsung a41 (actually it's the a51 but I don't have enough to pay it) and the Xiaomi redmi note 10. Here are the pros and cons I think of for each one:

    Samsung a41:

    • Pros:
    1. OLED
    2. Compact (big advantage)
    3. NFC
    4. Samsung Quality (I mean, it's a well known brand so I think that there is a reason to that)
    • Cons:
    1. The selfie camera is in a "drop" shape and not just a circle (less screen)
    2. One UI 2.0 and Android 10 (not totally up to date)
    3. A bit expensive for me

    Xiaomi redmi note 10:

    • Pros:
    1. OLED
    2. Cheap
    3. MIUI 12 and Android 11
    4. I like the fact that the fingerprint sensor is at the same place than the power button
    • Cons:
    1. Big
    2. No LTE (what does that really mean ?)
    3. No NFC

What I'm looking for in a new phone is a good battery, a good screen and that it doesnt lag when I scroll down social network/browse web. I however don't care about the camera part.

So, consequently to that, I have a few questions:

    1. Which one of these two phones would you recommand ?
    2. Would it be worth to wait a month so that I have enough money to buy the redmi note 10 pro instead of the note 10
    3. Will I be able to have 4G even without LTE ? (I'm in France, if that can help)
    4. What does the lack of NFC change ? (basically, what does NFC allow to do ?)

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for your advices.

Make homescreen button go to homescreen?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2021 05:40 PM PDT

Hi guys, I have a Mi 9 with MIUI 12.0.4

    If I do this:

    • open folder on homescreen
    • open app from folder
    • press middle button (home shortcut)
    • the app "closes" and the screen shows the folder I opened
    • I then have to press home a second time to go to homescreen

Is there a way to set the home button to go straight to my homescreen?

I find it very frustrating when it goes to an open folder
