    Cast to galaxy watch?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 07:31 AM PST

So I have an exceptionally dumb question for an exceptionally dumb reason. I'm certain it would literally be possible given that the Galaxy Watch has its own web browser and thus is obviously capable of displaying the images and internet browsing and all that. So I'm curious if there is some dumb way in which I can get a device to display on my Galaxy Watch. No it's not important at all, yes it's for a meme.

Is it worth it to upgrade from an s10e to an s21? (For $250).. it would only be $250 with Samsung current promotion.

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 08:36 AM PST

Current s10e has no defects, just wondering how much of an upgrade it is, and if anyone has upgraded from s10e to s21 thoughts?

    Roland Quandt - "Might have been said before (haven't been on the line for a week): Galaxy A52 cam specs: 64 MP 81°, 0.8 µm, OIS / 12 MP 123°, 1.12 µm / 5 MP macro 78°, 1.12 µm / 5 MP depth 85°, 1.12 µm. Yes, 4G = 90 Hz, 5G = 120 Hz screens. Both 800 cd/m2 max brightness. Samsung's in it to win"

It's getting confusing. What is the difference between Reminders, To Do, and Tasks?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 01:15 AM PST

So I've noticed that after the recent update on my S20, Reminders (which I previously didn't use) can now sync to Microsoft. I actually happen to use Outlook.com for my email, calendar and tasks, and the Outlook application for Windows as well. But what's the difference between "Reminders" (in the Reminders app), "To Do" (in the Reminders app), and "Tasks" (in the Calendar app), and how do they sync?

    - Reminders: seem to be purely local and not synced to Microsoft?

    - To Do: it's kind of the same as a reminder, but gets synced to Microsoft - however it shows up in Outlook as a normal Tasks with no due date but a reminder time? It seems to also show all "Tasks" that have a reminder time, but when you create a new To Do in the Reminders app it doesn't show up in Tasks on the other hand. Also, in the To Do section you can only show one task list from Outlook.com while in the Tasks section (Calendar app) it shows you all your task lists, but without telling you which task is in which list.

    - Flagged Emails: these show up as a Task list to choose from in the To Do section, but not otherwise (except for the Email app of course)

    - Tasks: This one is more straight forward and turns up on to-do.live.com and in the Outlook Tasks.

Anyway this seems like a huge mess and doesn't really get explained anywhere. What is the logic behind so many similar types of tasks/reminders? How am I supposed to decide whether I should put my task into Tasks, To Do, or Reminders (and then there's also Flagged Emails and of course Alarms)? How does it sync to the Microsoft account?

Has anyone's Samsung RMA been this bad? Is it this common?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 08:48 AM PST

So first week of Jan I opened a ticket and sent them a Soundbar with subwoofer. The subwoofer wasn't working and ran through the troubleshooting steps with customer service. Mailed it out the middle of that first week of Jan and it arrived Friday that same week. Middle of the 2nd week of Jan I got an email telling me to ship the product to them which was when I had to contact them through chat which they moved the ticket to the repair step. End of the last week of Jan I haven't received any update on my status. I went to the chat and then they told me that they did not have any parts to repair my unit and would have to refund since they did not have units available to exchange the unit with. For the refund they would pay me what I put on my credit card. I bought it from Best Buy with their MyBestBuy reward certificate which was 50% of the product price. The refund would not include the certificate because they treat that as a coupon. So I asked them to ship the unit back to me since with the refund I cant buy another sound bar so I might as well just use it without the subwoofer. Fast forward to today I went to the chat asking them to check on the unit being shipped back and they told me they have not shipped it back yet and that I would have to call the service center to get my unit back. Has anyone else ran into RMA issues like this? Kind of makes me want to not buy another Samsung product for a while.

    A51 voicemail app not displaying

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 08:48 AM PST

I recently purchased an A51 to replace my old phone that was running out of storage.

I have noticed that there is no voicemail app that I can find. My last phone was an LG with the android OS and it had the icon.

When I dial into the voicemail it states it is all set up, but no icon to be found.

Am I blind or missing something?

    Thanks!

Since the update of One UI that my Note 10 plus received a while back, the chat bubbles of Facebook Messenger has been override by One UI chat bubble. Is there any way for me to turn it back to Messenger's default bubbles?

Thoughts on the Galaxy Z Fold 2 as a first time foldable phone user

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 06:52 AM PST

    Hey guys,

When the first Galaxy Fold was announced a couple of years ago, I was blown away as I wasn't expecting good foldables to come this soon. Then the reviews came and reality set in. I decided to wait for the second generation before buying one and seeing the overwhelmingly positive reviews on the Z Fold 2 made me go ahead and buy one. Here are my thoughts on the Z Fold 2 after having it for a month.

If you'd rather listen/watch, here's a video review. No ads.

    Initial Reaction

My first reaction was WOW holy shit this looks unreal. The first time you unfold the phone is quite magical. It shows how much this technology has matured in just a couple of years. The screen looks absolutely stunning when unfolded and the 120Hz refresh rate makes this phone really fly. The hinge is tight and feels quite assuring. It's got the perfect level of resistance to make you feel that it's not going to break. The glass finish makes it feel like an expensive showpiece. You think this is peak smartphone and if there's a thing as a perfect smartphone, this is it...

Then the reality starts to set in a bit. The phone's front screen, although nothing wrong with it is quite narrow. It's good for checking notifications, a bit of casual browsing, and making calls. But, it's quite bad when it comes to typing. I typically install the Google Keyboard on my phones but that keyboard just doesn't work well on this phone. The keys aren't meant for a screen this narrow or the bigger screen. Also, because both screen sizes are uncommon, most apps just aren't optimized for either screen. The front screen is too narrow and the main screen is too square-ish causing a lot of apps to have borders.

The primary screen, while it's stunning to take a look at, has a very thick plastic screen protector installed on it. It ends up making this amazing-looking piece of technology into a smudgy mess. Because it's plastic, it's pretty hard to keep clean and you have to spend some time cleaning it with a microfiber cloth. Samsung doesn't recommend removing it yourself and while the screen is made of glass, it's so thin I wouldn't dare removing the screen protector to prevent it from cracking.

    Durability Concerns

The phone isn't water or dust-resistant, and it's made of glass. That means, if you drop it, it's likely game over. Because the phone is so expensive to own, I ended up putting a case on it to keep it protected. As a result, this already chunky thicc boy looked like it put on some lockdown weight. As a result, I felt I didn't quite enjoy using it as a phone. When consuming media, it was an absolute joy, but the cheap-feeling plastic always reminded me that the tech wasn't mature enough every time I turned off the screen or played something dark on it.

    The Good Side

It might seem that I'm shitting on the phone, but that's not the case at all. Samsung deserves a lot of praise for everything they were able to pack into this device. The battery life is incredible and easily got me 6-7 hours of screen on time while primarily using the bigger screen. The cameras, while not top of the line, offer most focal lengths and take really good quality shots. While it doesn't have a microSD slot, the 256GB storage is more than enough for over 90% of people. Also, I like the software tweaks Samsung added to take advantage of the foldable form factor. You can seamlessly set most apps to switch between the cover and primary screen. You can use the front screen as a viewfinder to take selfies using the primary camera. And some apps like YouTube and camera give you a slightly different experience when the phone is partially folded.

    How to Improve It

Here's how I think the phone can be improved. First, instead of glass, I'd like to see Samsung use plastic or "glasstic" as they call it for the back. It'll not only reduce the fear of breaking this phone, but also significantly reduce the weight of the phone and hopefully lower the price. Also, I'd like to see a thinner, but wider body. This will fix two complaints. One, it'll make the front screen bigger and more useful, and second, it'll allow for a wider folded screen, which will only improve multitasking similar to the Microsoft Surface Duo, as currently, the screen is best for using one app at a time. Also, to reduce the weight further, I'd be curious to see a smaller battery paired with a low-power processor. If Samsung can deliver a smooth experience similar to the Pixel 5, most people won't even notice that this isn't using the latest and greatest internals. Also, all these changes will significantly reduce the price, making this revolutionary tech more accessible.

And obviously, I'd like to see a foldable glass screen that's durable enough to use without fear of it cracking easily and a hinge that's dust and water-resistant, but I'm not sure if that's doable at the moment.

For now, I think the Galaxy Z Fold 2 isn't the phone for me, but it has done its job to get me super excited for the future of this form factor. If you have a Z Fold 2, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

How to find where my s21 is from

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 10:30 PM PST

I know the IMEI thing with the 7th and 8th numbers (my old s9 was from India) but the 7th and 8th numbers don't match up with the chart. it isn't fake either because I got it directly from Samsung.

    Lagging keys after update

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 09:33 PM PST

Hey, so I have an s21 ultra, and since the update yesterday the responsiveness and speed of the keyboard has significantly decreased. Is anyone else having this problem?

The button press speed is already as fast as it can be in the settings, and I have it set for extra sensitivity due to the screen protector. It was fine before the update, so I'm thinking I should roll it back? Any suggestions would be helpful :) thanks!

The song the your washer/dryer plays when it's done is known as the "Samsong". You're welcome.

After we got it, we started calling it the Samsong.

If this is already common, I'll feel dumb. If not, enjoy! Lol.

Best cross-platform task manager/to do list?

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 01:16 PM PST

Recently got an S21U for work (previously iPhone) and use some pieces for personal life. My personal phone is an iPhone and I'm used to the Reminders app. Anyone have some suggestions for their favorite task managers/to do lists? Trying out TickTick right now.

First galaxy phone in 7 years, what do you recommend doing?

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 05:01 PM PST

I just got an S21 and an coming from a pixel 2. I really liked the pixel, but the p5 seemed to be lacking compared to the S21.

I've had it for a week, and before I get to comfortable, what tips and tweaks do you have for me? I've heard of some sort of nova launcher that people like, no idea what that entails, but it sounds popular.

Are there some settings I should mess with? Are there some perks on the s21 I Suttle be aware of that Google didn't have? Are there apps I should download like a keyboard or camera app to replace what Samsung has on here?

Anything and everything anyone has to offer is appreciated! Really want to sort of get everything I need to get on here in place so I can start getting familiar with things.

Notification theme after OneUI3.0 update question

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 02:01 PM PST

I used Good Lock to change the notification theme/buttons. Since upgrading, the theme is default to blue/black. Good Lock no longer has a theme setting. I downloaded Power Shade and it works only when I scroll from the top screen, not the power button on my S10e.

    Any fixes?
