Posted: 02 Mar 2021 07:15 PM PST Crossposted. Okay so my boyfriend and I were playing Valheim together. Out of nowhere, both his monitors went black, they said signal lost, and his PC restarted. He checked into the event log and he saw 56 of the exact same error that happened before the crash, all within a second of the computer shutting down. He says this has happened 3 times within the last couple weeks. He's running windows10 GTX3070 with an intel core i7 9,700k 8 core CPU with 32GBs of ram. Operating system is windows10 home edition 64 bit He's wondering what could be happening. We've played Valheim the past couple days and it hasn't happened but he says it's happened to him in other games before as well. [Here are pictures of the errors.](https://imgur.com/a/w6usItq](https://imgur.com/a/w6usItq) Any help is appreciated. TIA! [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Mar 2021 06:56 PM PST My pc keeps going black screen and I lose audio. The computer stays on but is unresponsive. This happens about 2-3 time a day. Video driver is up to date. Have to hold power button until off then restart. I have 3 monitors on a 2070 super and they all go off at once so its not the monitor. Any ideas?? Why does it always take longer to open a folder that's not sorted by "name"? Posted: 02 Mar 2021 03:40 PM PST I have a folder with a fairly large number of files & subfolders that I've enabled indexing for. I sort it by date, but whenever I open the folder it still takes a few seconds for the contents to appear. If I sort by name, it opens instantly every time. I thought the point of indexing was to get rid of delays in searching and sorting. Is there a way to get folders to open instantly no matter how they are sorted? [link] [comments]
How to boot if Windows is bricked after a failed reset (Cannot reset / Access Boot Options) Posted: 02 Mar 2021 03:26 PM PST So windows can in rare cases, be unable to access the boot options, but can still have some (Windows Recovery Environment) WRE functionality. I will detail how to get windows semi-running so you can be able to extract anything before re-installing. WARNING: This is NOT a permanent fix, it is at best a band-aid solution, and should not be relied on in the long term. Step 1: Load up the WRE. One of the quickest methods in this case is to just keep trying to boot. This will cause the bootloader to fallback into recovery mode. Step 2: Click on Troubleshoot (Screwdriver And Wrench) Step 2.5: Click on Advanced Options (Gear Symbol) Step 3: Click on Command Prompt (Basic Window with C:\) Disclaimer: By proceeding beyond this step you adknowledge the risk of data loss Step 4: Enter the following command into cmd (accounting for the correct parameters) Step 5: Reboot [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Mar 2021 10:27 AM PST Anyone else watch their task manager like a hawk and freakout thinking a virus happened, only to remember it is Patch Tuesday? I watch my task manager like a hawk in case of viruses, you can normally see an unusual process , pull network cable and quarantine a virus file before it propagates fully. However, Patch Tuesday always catches me offguard like a bad joke. So many new processes! I overreact, pull network cable and start googling the processes names until I find the one that says windows update. Anyone else do this? [link] [comments]
Do scheduled hard drive optimizations in Windows 10 slow down your computer? Posted: 02 Mar 2021 10:23 AM PST If I schedule a hard drive optimization weekly, and it's running in the background while I do something else, will it slow down my computer? Will it slow down my computer otherwise? What about other maintenance programs like Disk Cleanup, Storage Sense, etc.? [link] [comments]

Partial System Freezes Since December 20H2 Update Posted: 02 Mar 2021 10:13 AM PST It feels like I've been going insane these last 2 months but just today I feel like I've made headway into isolating the issue to the 20H2 update. I've found other threads with people with almost identical issues to my own: on the Microsoft Community, on Reddit here, and here, which is my only consolation that I'm not completely alone in experiencing this problem. Here are some symptoms:
This continues until everything is unresponsive and the only thing left is a hard shutdown. There's absolutely nothing logged in Event Viewer afterwards and I've been tearing my hair out trying to root out the issue. Today it has even gotten worse and it's starting to freeze even while I'm actively using the computer. Before this only happened when I left my computer idle for a few minutes. Unfortunately, it's been long past the 10 days available to rollback the update so I can't confirm for sure if it's 20H2 that's causing these issues (but for now it seems like the likeliest culprit). I was willing to let this slide since I could still get my work done reliably as long as I was by my computer, but now that it's just unstable all the time I can't wait any longer for an update to fix this. Hopefully some of you will have a fix or at least seeing this helps somebody else that has the same problem. [link] [comments]
Prevent Windows 10 to change screen resolution when monitor is off Posted: 02 Mar 2021 05:07 AM PST Basically when I turn off my screen (or it's put on sleep mode by windows) the screen resolution is changing and it messes up with my softwares. There is a way to prevent this behavior? EDIT: this guide didn't help. [link] [comments]

WinSCP Question = How do i stop This from happening? Posted: 02 Mar 2021 12:02 PM PST When i double click a remote file to open, WinSCP will open it as a temporary file (from my %temp% dir). All good. But if i change something in this file i notice WinSCP will automatically update the changes to the remote site. How do i stop that from happening? I don't want it to upload this changed temp file. [link] [comments]
