Someone forgot to redesign this overlay for a decade

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 05:56 PM PST

Charging time is very long on OnePlus 8 Pro since update. It says it's Warp charging but going to take 1h 27m to charge from 30%. Anyone else having problems?

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 06:42 AM PST

As title, my charging times have become ridiculous over the last few days.

Here's a Screenshot-20210228-143433-01.jpg, it says it's warp charging. But it doesn't seem to be working.

    Anyone else having this trouble?

Subtle joys of using a phone with a top tier processor

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 11:07 PM PST

I've seen tons of well written posts about how much of a leap it is going from budget phones with a 400-600 series Qualcomm SoC to an 800 series toting OnePlus. I'm fairly new to smartphones with my first android device bring a humble Samsung Young in 2013 barely running Jellybean slathered with TouchWiz,since then I've used the original Moto G,a Redmi 3 Prime,a Redmi Note 7s and finally the OnePlus 7T. I'm sure there are beefier phones around but here are things which I didn't know I was missing .

    1. Actually decent HDR - 3 of my past 4 phones had some form of an HDR photography mode but they barely managed to preserve highlights. Most of my past photos look like they were taken in a white void

    2. Bright ass screen - I don't recall bring able to decently see my phone's screen under direct sunlight. This is also my first experience with an AMOLED display which is pretty sweet!

    3. Haptics - I always thought haptics on phones were jarring until I saw how good it could actually be

    4. Stereo audio absolutely rules

    5. No more anaemic RAM management - Finally apps actually stay in memory. Xiaomi phones notoriously kill apps in favour of battery life.

To be fair though, more recent budget phones provide 90% of the experience of flagships and with a lil bit of patience and rooting most phones can be made usable but it's pretty neat to experience a nice phone.

Moved from 6T to 8T, Gallery app is much slower.

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 01:10 PM PST

I had just under 14k photos on my OnePlus 6T. When I opened my gallery app, "All photos and videos" would instantly show the correct number of photos and videos on the device.

I bought a OnePlus 8T this week, and moved all my photos across via OnePlus Switch. Now, each time I open the gallery app on the 8T I have to wait upwards of 2 minutes for the number of photos to climb from ~1000 to the correct number of ~13700.

I thought this would rectify itself after a few launches of the app, or over time as the phone indexed my files but it is still doing this.

    Any advice?

    7T Pro McLaren

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 12:17 PM PST

I can get it in my country for 690USD, is it worth it buying this almost one and a half year old phone? For some context, I HIGHLY value having no notch and but the software upgrade issues does suck. Oh and I also currently own a 6T from 2018. Would it be wiser to wait for the 9pro given that I do also want a flagship camera?

How do you get the student discount in the UK?

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 07:17 AM PST

So, I'm trying to get the oneplus 8T as it's on sale right now, and I've signed in and verified with my student beans account, but it says that the promo code that I've got is used? On my actual oneplus account it says that the code is unused and should work so I'm a bit confused. I can send screenshots if needed.

    Would appreciate any help,
    Thanks

    7 Pro sudden issues

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 02:00 AM PST

So a couple of days ago the front camera stopped working, although it still popped up and down fine. Then a day later, the flashlight stopped working. Another day later the back side camera wouldn't work anymore, and today the front camera doesn't go down anymore after i unlock it with my finger print (since face recognition doesn't work anymore).

Anyone know what the issue is and how to fix it?

    AOD on the 7 series

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 10:27 AM PST

I have the OP 7 Pro, and although I generally love the phone, I've missed the AOD I got used to on Motorola and Samsung phones. So I've been eagerly installing these new Oxyogen OS 11 betas, but so far have found the AOD implementation drains my battery at a crazy rate.

With Beta 2, where the AOD was introduced, the first day I used it I was down to around 30% battery by noon -- I usually end the day with that much left. I figured it was their first shot, still a beta, and turned it off. Now this morning I installed Beta 3, and turned on AOD again.

One hour later, not having picked the phone up even once, I've observed a 10% battery drain. It's almost as much as if I were actively using the phone that whole time, and similar if not worse than third party AOD apps I previously tried but uninstalled due to their battery impact.

Is anyone else having better luck with battery drain using the AOD on 7 series phones?

I only have the Pro, so I'm not sure if the problem is all with the software implementation. But from my perspective, they might as well not have bothered to include AOD if it's going to have this massive impact on battery life. For comparison, on my old Samsung and Moto devices, the AOD drain was hardly noticeable -- maybe 5% over the course of the day.

My right OnePlus Bud Z's battery life cut down to half.

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 10:21 AM PST

My right bud was chewed by my dog a week ago. The damage was all physical. The sound quality, mic, and sensor worked just fine as before.

Now for no reason, the battery life got cut in half. By the time my left bud reaches around 50%, my right would be as low as 5%. What should I do?

    Weird Dark Theme Bug

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 01:53 AM PST

I tried to change to dark mode in OnePlus 7 pro and the launcher wouldn't load. Just with that theme. I tried to restart the phone, wait minutes to load, everything but it just didn't work.

The other two themes worked, but for some reason, when I switched to dark mode it got stuck on the main screen.

    Have you experienced this?

[OP 7T] Google Maps and Chrome Canary lack 90Hz support

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 08:41 AM PST

Hi, on my OP 7T (A11 Open Beta) Google Maps and Chrome Canary apps are definitely not working on 90Hz. It's very annoying because scrolling is very choppy. I'm curious if you guys have same problem and if it's OxygenOS's or app's fault?

Lost a right bud in the snow. Anyone looking to offload one?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 10:29 PM PST

The wife lost her bud getting in the car after the snow. Snow has melted, bud is gone. OnePlus doesn't sell singles replacements. Anyone have something similar happen and lost their left and is sitting on a right and they don't know what to do with it? I will gladly take it off your hands. Shoot me a PM.

Considering upgrading from an iPhone XR to either the 8T or the Nord.

    Posted: 28 Feb 2021 09:33 AM PST

So I am currently an iPhone user and have been one for the last three years. However, I feel that Apple has gotten lazy and hasn't come out with something truly new or innovative, which makes me want to try android. Some of my apprehensions though, are about the transfer of data. From an initial google search, it seems that whatsapp chat histories don't transfer over and apps need to be redownloaded manually. Has anyone gone through a similar process (IOS to Oneplus), and if so do you have any tips for the process? I am really tempted to upgrade but this is what's holdinh me back.
