Do Laptops Have Desktop 1650's? Posted: 01 Feb 2021 10:32 AM PST I found a laptop that I'm interested in my but nowhere does it mention if it's a mobile version or a desktop version and in my experience most do. Did they just forget to add that info or does the desktop version exist for laptops? Acer predator 300 helios fan runs for no reason Posted: 01 Feb 2021 01:23 PM PST What the title sounds like. I'm decently new to gaming laptops, and I'm not entirely sure why the fan randomly whirs sometimes, but currently my younger brother who is using it while I use my low end PC for school work, keeps screaming at me for not taking care of it. What should I do? Normally it does whir sometimes, but I don't really take notice of it. Diagnosing USB dock and monitor issues Posted: 01 Feb 2021 12:25 PM PST Hi all, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here goes. I am setting up my home office. I got my first monitor (Asus VZ249HE) last Thursday, along with a USB dock (j5create JUD380), and I got my second monitor (same model Asus) today. I have a Dell Inspiron 15 5548 that I am connecting the monitor to. I set up my first monitor and connected it to the hub along with a used keyboard and everything worked great. Beautiful monitor, everything worked well, no problems. I used the setup for a couple of days and then Saturday night (1/30/21) the monitor would simply not turn on. I tried changing outlets, unplugging for several minutes, disconnecting/reconnecting HDMI cable... the best I got is the monitor would turn on for 5-10 seconds, then completely power down and it would not respond to any buttons that I pushed. I finally got the monitor to work that night by switching the HDMI cable. It worked good for all of the next day, and then today (2/1/21), it had the same problem. After being on the phone with Asus for awhile (they were no help), and unplugging it for an extended period of time, I got it to work again. Here's my question: how do I diagnose the problem? The monitor that is having problems is a "renewed" product from Amazon, so I initially thought that was the problem. Then I switched the HDMI to a brand new cord and it only fixed the problem temporarily. Now I've got that monitor connected directly to my laptop instead of the hub. My second monitor (brand new from Walmart) is now connected to the hub and seems to be doing fine, but it's the first day I've had it. My worry is that if the hub is somehow burning up my monitors, then my brand new monitor will be burned up in a couple of days. Any advice? Posted: 01 Feb 2021 08:25 AM PST I recently got a new laptop, and I really need to take care of this because I will probably use it for around 5 years or more. I'm just wondering if I should worry about reapplying thermal paste some day. ​ These are my specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 4500U GPU: MX350 ​ Temperatures: CPU in lightwork activities: 40-50 Celsius for 5-6hrs a day GPU in lightwork activities: 35-40 Celsius for 5-6hrs a day CPU while gaming: 75-85 Celsius for ~ 10hrs a week GPU while gaming: 70 Celsius for ~ 10hrs a week ​ Answers from the internet can be like every 3 or 5 years, while some advice to not worry about it at all. I purchased a laptop about 6 years ago and at the time it was pretty good, but for obvious reasons, it's struggling to keep up with the times. The laptop isn't a "brand" like HP or Dell, I purchased it from a company where you could custom select what you wanted and they build it for you.
