Windows 10 can now reboot without looking like a reboot occurred. Posted: 02 Jan 2021 03:58 PM PST I don't know when it happened but one day I was ignoring Windows 10 requesting a reboot after an update. Then a day later, everything looked normal but I had a new tab in Firefox as if I closed it, an update occurred and FF was telling me of a new feature. I checked the logs and Windows had rebooted but put everything back the way it was. Does anyone know what this new feature is? Also, I don't have the Restart apps when I sign out and restart turned on. So it's not that. Thanks. [link] [comments]

Windows won’t boot up, all commands lead to the folder... missing? Posted: 02 Jan 2021 07:32 PM PST I've performed a wide array of trouble shooting. I have an SSD which I originally put windows on (I'm 99% sure at least. There are program files there but no windows file and they haven't updated since March). I guess at some point I copied my windows stuff onto my HDD to back it up but those files say there were updated as early as the 13th of December. So what did I do? I can't reset the PC because it can't find the damn file in the proper drive but when I attempt any resets or scans of the supposed folder in my Hard Drive it goes no where. Trying the Regback command chain ended in a dead end even when I thought I had the Windows file. If someone can help me either solve the problem or at least identify it properly I'll gladly throw a couple bucks their way. (Unless it's against the rules) Edit: The C: Drive (where the files should be) definitely still has the Program and Programx86 folders albeit haven't change in months despite me staying on top of most updates [link] [comments]

I changed my resolution using Custom Resolution Utility and now my Windows won't start Posted: 02 Jan 2021 06:38 PM PST Dell Inspiron, Windows 10. I changed my resolution to 1024x768 for stupid CS:GO. When it told me to restart, the screen was on but black after the Dell logo. Now it goes blue screen with Critical Process Died on the bottom. Having trouble recovering data off an external haddrive. Posted: 02 Jan 2021 06:04 PM PST The first problem is that it is formatted to OSX. For this drive and two others I have the paid version of HFS+. When I plug the drive into my laptop and I dig in there, I see a few root folders but when I drill down there are no files. I've tried scanning the drive with Stellar Data Recovery and it came up with nothing the last time I tried. I'm relatively sure it's just backups from my old mac laptop but I also think there is a chance that 500 Gigs of music is on there too. Would love some tips or things to try next. Thanks so much. Posted: 02 Jan 2021 05:06 PM PST Dwm is using a high amount of my ram and I have no clue how to fix this. I'm currently using a laptop with i5 10300h, 8 GB of ram, NVidia's 1650 and I also use one external monitor. So if anyone knows a fix to this please let me know! [link] [comments]
Windows auto applies a filter on videos Posted: 02 Jan 2021 05:02 PM PST Hi, I was wondering if anyone could please help me out - I've just setup a new laptop and everything works fine, however whenever I watch a video the laptop applies this filter which is different from the actual colour. Would anyone know why this is happening? [link] [comments]
Server 2019 CA Issuing certificates from numbered certificate template? Posted: 02 Jan 2021 12:58 PM PST So I think I didn't decommission my precious CA properly (remove role) and now that I've readded the role, I'm getting duplicate certificates being handed out, one from my newly built certificate template, and one from 1.3.6.1.4.311.21.8.1564065.16319181.13978540.144.... Luckily I'm not getting 4x my certificates from the old CA as I was before the role reversal, but I'm still getting this one from a duplicated user template, how do I find and destroy that template? On a side note (or maybe the main note) how do I stop the CA from handing out old CAs? Every time I hit Renew CA Certificate it would start handing out a new copy of all my appropriate certificates along with each previous version. If I delete them all and then restart they're all back, if I Renew CA Certificate I get a newer version and all the old ones as well. Edit: That object identifier looks to be Policy Name "High Assurance" but I don't see that anywhere but those two spots. [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Jan 2021 04:15 PM PST I'm on Windows 10. My question is specifically about a time tracking application called Toggl. I've installed the Windows desktop app, and it has a feature you can turn on called 'Record activity', it records a log of everything you do on your PC, to help you keep track of what you were doing in case you forget. I think it was turned on by default. When it was on, it records a log of what applications I was using and for how long. It looks like it is just grabbing the title of whatever active window you're in, which gives it information about what websites you have visited if there is any information about what website you're on in the window title. How does this application have access to this information? I don't believe that I did anything to grant it any special permissions to do this. Maybe I'm naive, but my assumption would be that any application installed on your computer can't just keep track of what other applications you're using, at least not without granting the application some kind of permission. If it were up to me, I would not want to grant installed applications permission to access anything except what is necessary for them to operate. I know I can turn off the activity recording, but what I want to do is revoke permission for any application to record activity at the OS level. Does anyone have any suggestions or insight into what is going on here? [link] [comments]
Insignia Bluetooth Dongle won't connect to my PC to give me Bluetooth Posted: 02 Jan 2021 04:07 PM PST I just purchased a usb Bluetooth dongle for my pc. When I plug it in I am still not allowed to use Bluetooth. When I go to the Bluetooth section in settings, it shows that my device is plugged in, but it also says drivers unavailable. If I go to my device manager, There is not yet a bluetooth tab. However, under other devices tab I can see my Insignia Bluetooth Dongle shows up as "BCM20702A0". It does not allow me to update drivers for it though. My windows 10 is fully up to date too. I am not sure what to do I just want my Bluetooth to work. And yes I have tried to troubleshoot it. Troubleshooting only tells me that there not a dongle connected at all so obviously i get to bluetooth. Help me. [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Jan 2021 06:50 AM PST The screen of my Lenovo ideapad 5 laptop died today. I know it's just the screen because my second screen stays on. I need to keep working on it because of exams I have in a week. The problem I'm facing is: I can't get to the 'display' settings on just my second screen. Everything I try to open, opens on my main screen (which is broken). I have tried dragging the settings to the second screen but I can't seem to get a hold of it. Does anybody know any shortcuts or anything that might help with this problem? Thanks in advance Edit: I have solved it by clicking a bunch of times hoping to hit the right things and it worked [link] [comments]

Early users get free sync between Windows10 and mobile apps - Podcast player app Posted: 02 Jan 2021 09:27 AM PST Hi all, Windows 10 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/p/podurama-podcast-player/9nnt80b3595s Over the past many months, I have been working on Podcast player app because there were some features I wanted but couldn't find in any other app. The app is available for Windows 10 and also on mobile (iOS and Android). All the early users will get free data sync between unlimited devices (including the webapp at https://podurama.com along with the mobile apps). Some of the main features include:
and many more in the pipeline :) It also has many other features like ability to search over 900K podcasts and millions of episodes, create unlimited playlists, offline listening, custom rss feeds and lot more. Please let me know your thoughts. I would appreciate any feedback and will try to add any features you need. Thanks! [link] [comments]
