After updating to OOS11 beta (7t pro) Google photos started asking that.

OnePlus 7T Pro - Open Beta 1 First Impressions

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 12:06 AM PST

Pros: + Battery life is good so far. Over the night it drains 0.5%/h, which is pretty good. I have auto brightness on, wifi on, LTE on, bt on, location on. + All functions are working normally, doesn't feel unstable. Definitely daily-driver material. + GPU performance gets a major boost, at least on 3DMark Wild Life test. 2313 on Android 10, 3433 on Android 11. That is nearly 50% higher score. Newer games on Vulkan should be running great. AnTuTu score is 13% higher btw. + Had no problems installing and all my data remained. But I did do a full backup just in case, as you should too. + New lockscreen looks cool, but purists may not like it.

Cons: - New dark mode looks worse, with the greyish look. I hope they bring the option for full amoled black theme. - Animations feel slower than on Android 10, doesn't feel as snappy. - No Always-On-Display, they could've included it so we could also beta test that. Maybe they could get it ready faster that way. - Launcher Shelf weather animation. Just make it an option, so I can turn it off. I don't want to use the oneplus weather app, neither do I want to enable my location to be always on.

Other remarks: - I had some issues in first boot, so I did another restart and that fixed some of the main hickups. For example my fingerprint scanner was always on, even when I was in an app. Also my wifi had bad connectivity. But those are fixed with a restart and haven't reoccurred. - Some apps are not so optimized. For example Edge is draining battery. - Display scaling on default looks bigger than on 10. I have to use the small option for it to look normal. - There is a new feature called "Dual-Channel network acceleration". Which uses both data and wifi for faster downloads. But it doesn't seem to work for me. Still only uses wifi.

I'm eager to answer your questions, I know a lot of you are on the fence about updating and wondering if it's stable enough for you. So let me know!

Some screenshots here of the changes.

    OnePlus 8T and PD charge

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 03:14 PM PST

Hi guys, I am in the process of replacing my broken power bank with a (preferably) 65W PD power bank. Can it charge the device at 65W via the USB-C to USB-C cable?

It's a 30000 mAh model from Baseus if anyone needs to know.

    Thanks for the help guys!

Oneplus 8T messages picture quality terrible

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 06:25 PM PST

Anyone experiencing this? Me and my girlfriend have an 8 pro and an 8T and both of our images to/from each other are highly compressed and grainy. We've tried the default app / messages and textra and still facing the same compression issues. Is there a simple setting we are missing?

    One Plus 8t Bluetooth Issues

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 02:52 PM PST

So I've seen a few other posts but no one really gave any actionable solutions, the Bluetooth does not connect to my vehicle which is a 2016 Jeep renegade, not that old of a car.

Bluetooth functionality is a basic thing that everyone needs in a modern phone so it's completely unacceptable at this point and OnePlus acts like they have no issues.

I have called in they just redirect me to their support app which has a lot of people reporting the same thing and no action being taken, so what if anything can I do to fix this? Has anyone had any luck demanding them to replace your phone with one that does work since Bluetooth is literally a minimum requirement at this point for any phone.

And yes I can connect to every phone including a OnePlus 8 non t model to my car with no issues.

OnePlus 7 Pro Android Auto bootloop

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 10:37 AM PST

Overnight, my phone must have updated and now whenever I connect my phone to Android Auto in the car, the phone bootloops until I remove the wire.

The Android Auto app is installed but it is now removed from the app drawer list too.

Has anyone seen this issue before? Gutted because it was perfect before but it seems to have broken itself

I am thinking about installing another custom rom on my oneplus 7 pro but I also want to try out android 11 when it comes out. How long does it usually take after the first beta for the official version to be released?

Where can you change your wireless connections allowed?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 02:14 PM PST

To be more clear, where in the oneplus settings can you select the allowed different connections. I don't mean the prefer 2g/3g/4g. I mean how you can select the hspa/lte/nr/gsm. I remember coming across it and now I would like to change it, I just don't know where.

Better to charge OP8 with Warp or USB-C PD?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 01:29 PM PST

I know there's threads on this, but I can't find a definitive answer.

15W charging is fast enough for me. So, is it better for battery longevity to charge the OP8 with 15W USB-C PD or 30W Warp?

(Ordered a OP8 with no charger from Swappa).

I'd prefer to buy a universal PD charger, as long as I'm not harming the OP8 cell by not using the Warp.

    Good time to buy?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 11:12 AM PST

I'm currently using a Galaxy S8 but it's starting to show it's age with no updates. I'm using a custom rom on it but don't really like having to do that.

So it's time to upgrade. I've gotten over the need to change the phone at contract end and I'm eyeing up a oneplus.

Now it's a toss up between the 8 or 8t. I'd like to get four years out of this phone and I'm not a heavy user anymore. So do I wait for the 9 or go 8t? All of them fit my usage just fine hell even the nord would probably be fine. I don't need 5g as I'm never near a town long enough to use it.

The most important thing is battery life, decent screen and storage.

OP 9 Pro - Buy or Hold?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 02:16 PM PST

I've got the 8 Pro. My top complaint is the camera. Still not quite Pixel quality and worst of all, it always takes an extra second to snap the shot. I'm thinking about upgrading to the 9 Pro for the improved camera. But otherwise I'm not sure if it would be a worthy upgrade - changes seem very minimal.

What are your thoughts on overall upgrade-worthiness? What are the issues you look forward to seeing OnePlus address?

Anything better than the 7 pro?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 09:31 AM PST

Hey, I love my 7 pro, but I itch for something new. The 8 series doesn't appeal to me that much. It doesn't seem as interesting as previous oneplus phones has. Previous phones I owned, 1, 2, 3, 5, 5t, 6, 7 pro. All oneplus phones since 2014. Been looking at samsung but I really like oxygen os. Anyone else feel the same? Anyone already made the switch and have some thoughts?

Is there any update in the works for 8 pro?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 01:31 AM PST

So, when I got this phone the updates where pretty spot on. Every month or so. Since November 2020 I have got no new updates. This is a flagship phone from op that is 4 months behind on the updates.

Am I to look for a new brand? I love op, been a fan since op 1, and what a joy that phone was.
