| Posted: 22 Jan 2021 11:34 AM PST Note: This requires root to do, the command will not work without root. OnePlus actually left the code for Always on Ambient Display in Oxygen OS 11 Beta 1 for the 7T series (and likely the 7 series too, I don't have one to check), simply leaving it disabled using their "OPFeatures" framework. You can override this very easily with root, using this command in a root shell (ie. do "su" first)

| Bought the Google Pixel 4A 5G (As a Oneplus 7 Pro User) Posted: 22 Jan 2021 10:28 AM PST Let me be clear, I didn't trade in or sell the 7 Pro I still have it sitting on the side. I wanted to try a newer phone with fast updates and security patches, and the Pixel certainly caught my eye! I've been using it as a daily driver for about a week and its certainly got its perks with a nice clean OS and a great camera for simple point and click and the form factor and weight are lighter than the 7 Pro and the flat screen is great too. Here comes the however. However, with all the minor perks like the smaller form, faster updates, a security chip and a good camera with a great battery life, I am finding myself missing the Beast that is my 7 Pro. The customization that the Oneplus OS and UI offers is absolutely awesome, the 90HZ 1440p screen is smooth and clear, and the option for face unlock alongside the fast fingerprint scanner on the front. I can deal with the hole punch camera, i'd prefer an under screen or popup again, but I can deal with the hole punch. TLDR. The pixel 4a 5G is a great phone, however I think Oneplus is still a wise investment if you're not too concerned with camera and updates. [link] [comments]  |

I took advantage of that incredible deal Visible had on the OnePlus 8 yesterday, and I love the phone so far, but there are a couple of things that are confusing me. First, the phone only has a single sim slot. This makes me think Visible sold me a carrier model of the phone, but it's not the Verizon version because it doesn't connect to Visible's 5G network (I guess that leaves the Tmobile version as the most likely). Second, the phone is really behind on software updates and says there are none available. It's running still running Android 10 (September security patch), build number 10.5.4.IN68CE. | Replace Screen on One Plus 8 Pro or Wait to buy One Plus 9 Pro Posted: 22 Jan 2021 02:51 PM PST So I have a fully speced out One Plus 8 Pro I got since launch and I love it. A couple of weeks ago, it got a crack in the top right corner of the screen (bc of the curved display). The crack is something that has grown on me and I barely notice it day to day and has not impacted the functionality of the phone at all. One Plus is roughly quoting me around $300 for parts/labor (The guy I spoke with on the One Plus support chat said its roughly $40 of labor for a screen replacement) and my DIY shop is quoting me $400 for the same service (The DIY shop has to order the part from a secondary supplier and will do the screen replacement all in one day compared to the week it takes One Plus). Should I pay the $300/$400 to get my screen replaced (that almost half for how much I originally paid for the phone) or save that money and wait a couple weeks (hopefully) to buy the One Plus 9 Pro or another next gen flagship smartphone? If I do buy a next gen flagship smartphone I do plan to resell my original OnePlus 8 pro (probably around $500 with a new screen or $300 with the original cracked screen) to recoup some cost. | Posted: 22 Jan 2021 11:04 AM PST I have the OnePlus 8 Pro, and for a while I had been using their launcher. I seem to recall that when using Google Messages, you could define that priority messages would show the contact photo and part of the message on the lock screen if when in Messages you sent the conversation to 'priority'. I now am using Nova Launcher, and have noticed that it seems to just say that a message was received on the lock screen, doesn't say anything else. Is there another setting I'm missing, or what is the issue here? I can't figure it out, so I come to you all for assistance :) Thanks a bunch. [link] [comments]  |

My Jabra Elite 75t are able to connected to my OnePlus 7, but when I click play on any audio application (Spotify, YouTube, VLC etc.) they're playing some weird audible pops instead. So I cannot figure out what is the cause. Restarting the phone 100% makes everything work like normal. But having to remember to restart every day, and not knowing when I am not truly having service, is bad, and I can miss important calls/txts/emails etc. The phone always tells me I have signal but only when I go to make a call do I realize something is wrong when I get the message "Mobile Network Is Not Available". | Posted: 22 Jan 2021 01:03 PM PST So, I managed to get my OP6 stuck in CrashDump mode after attempting to swap ROMs today (a procedure I've done many, many times) due to RROS bundling gapps in an update. It can only shut down for a bit with power+vol up, but in a few seconds boots right back into CrashDump. Even Fastboot is inaccessible. I have tried MSMDownloadTool, but it only detects the phone right after a PC reboot, and then fails with a Firehose handshake error. Am I out of options, or is there something I can do to try and fix this still? EDIT: I seem to have accidentally figured it out Basically, first off, it only detects the phone if it is plugged in and turned on while the PC is rebooted Then, after it failed with the firehose error, the phone had to be forced into a reboot with power+vol up, without stopping the flash from MSMDownloadTool despite the failure. Somehow that gets it working Leaving this here despite solving it myself, hopefully this helps someone else in the future [link] [comments]  |

They work and connect fine except for one thing. I do not get the notifications from the apps i selected to be read. I don't know why. I'm finding that my google maps location bugs out sometimes due to bad internet connection or possibly related to bad software? I've had mine since launch in 2017 and still think it runs great.
