Posted: 11 Jan 2021 07:43 AM PST Hey all, I've been playing a lot of games on steam on my new Dell Xps 15 9500 and I've noticed it sometimes gets really hot and the fans get loud. Is this normal and do any other users have any way to combat this?? Also if it helps I play games like Destiny 2 and Risk of Rain 2. The games run perfectly without any frame drops or having to lower the settings. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Most reliable $600 laptop brand. Posted: 11 Jan 2021 07:02 AM PST In your opinion, which brand is the most reliable? Lenovo or HP? I am looking at an HP Pavilion x360 2x1 (intel i5 1135G7) and the Lenovo Yoga 6 (Ryzen 4650u) all other specs are the same (8,16,256). I will be using for streaming, light business, web browsing and light video editing. Most importantly looking for reliability and longevity! [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Jan 2021 01:15 PM PST External ssd So I'm thinking about getting a external ssd for my laptop so I can just have more games but I have question. Are there any cons of using an external ssd for gaming. The only games I will have are some single player games like far cry or the Witcher 3. The ssd I'm thinking about getting is the Samsung t5 or t7. Also how will t7 run if my laptop has usb and thunderbolt 3.1 instead of the needed 3.2?? [link] [comments]

Question about buying from Antonline via a third party (Amazon, Google Shopping, eBay, etc.) Posted: 11 Jan 2021 08:30 AM PST I'm looking to buy a Legion 5 pretty soon, after my research it seems like the best possible option for what I'm looking for. There's effectively two options out there (at least that I'm interested in), both have a Ryzen 4800H, 16GB RAM, and 512GB SSD, the only difference is one has an RTX 2060 and the other a GTX 1660Ti. Obviously the 2060 is going to be better, I know that. I have a max budget of about $1,000 but I was willing to try go up to $1,100 for the graphics card. The 1660Ti is available from Amazon first-party for $982, but the 2060 is only available third party via Antonline for $1,099. I've heard horror stories about receiving the wrong configuration or getting a defective item (dead pixel, display problems, etc.) and needing to exchange and they just never respond, or they charge you a restocking fee anyway. I heard you can bypass these problems by going through another marketplace rather than their site directly such as buying through Google Shopping, eBay, or Amazon. After having a nightmarish experience with display quality control with a Dell Inspiron a few years ago, this is a concern of mine. Are these fears warranted? Is the 2060 worth the extra $120 and the possible headache of having to buy third party? [link] [comments]
Who process this? the laptop or the tv? Posted: 11 Jan 2021 12:13 PM PST I play a videogame in my laptop, which has a 1080p screen, so my machine renders the game at 1080p. Then I use a hdmi cable to connect the laptop to a 4k tv. Does that mean that my laptop is working 4 times as much rendering at 4k or does it render the usual 1080p and the tv upscales it? Which of these 2 Legion 5 models should I choose? Posted: 11 Jan 2021 11:41 AM PST I'm set on buying a Legion 5, but have found 2 good options to choose from. The 5P comes with slightly better GPU and CPU for £100 less, but has 8GB of RAM to the 5i's 16GB, a 256 GB SSD to the 5i's 512 GB SSD, and the 5P has no webcam. If I got the 5P I would buy an extra 8GB of RAM myself and spend more on a bigger second SSD, plus having to buy a webcam, which would definitely cost me more than the £100 price difference. So, are the RTX 2060 and Ryzen 7 4800H enough of an improvement over the GTX 1660 Ti and i7-10750H that it's worth doing that? Also, are there any other difference between the 5i and 5P that might affect my decision? (build quality, known issues, etc.) [bear in mind that according to the psref these have identical screens and batteries, which I've seen some people claiming is the difference...] 1: Legion 5P (RTX 2060, Ryzen 7 4800H) - £999.00 https://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/Legion/Lenovo_Legion_5P_15ARH05H?M=82GU0000UK 2: Legion 5i (GTX 1660 Ti, i7-10750H) - £1099.99 https://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/Legion/Lenovo_Legion_5_15IMH05H?M=81Y6005UUK [link] [comments]
