WHAT LAPTOP SHOULD I GET ??

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 12:41 PM PST

I don't know anything about laptops and it's been 7 years since I last bought one! During this time I can't really go into a Best Buy and ask so I'm left picking one and picking it up curb side ! Anyways I'm taking an office admin course and they recommended the following specs

Windows Laptop or Surface Device with: Intel Core i5 or AMD equivalent processor; 8GB or more of RAM; 256GB HD, USB port; Windows 10 Operating System Recommended: Built-in Ethernet Port; Audio/Mic combo; A Solid State Drive (SSD); 15 inch Touch Screen; A laptop with a battery life of 3hrs or better Note: A MacBook is NOT an acceptable alternative

My budget is about 1200 with taxes in ! Can anyone suggest a good laptop ???

HP Envy x360 15" Intel Core i5-1135G7 11th generation Vs Ryzen 7-4700u (same price point) around $1000

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 10:13 AM PST

    Hello guys,

Im looking to buy a HP Envy laptop both are around the same price. The main difference is core i5 intel 11th gen with IRIS XE graphics card and other one is VEGA 8. I dont know much about laptops and comparison in terms to AMD vs Intel. Im a noob when it comes to technicalities in terms of specifications.

The entire 4-8 cores is still a bit confusing to me. Core i5 uses a faster single core but after that RYZEN 7 pretty much destroys the intel after 4cores. sorry if I'm not able to relay the message properly.

    - I know that the Ryzen 7 is much more powerful than the icore5 but this one is 11th generation so its better than the 10th gen.

    - Intel comes with Silver color and AMD comes with black. Both colors are super nice in my opinion. ****Still undecided which color is better :(

    - Gonna use the laptop for overall use, watching movies, browsing the net and some light-medium gaming. I love the fact that the HP envy is nice and sleek looking and in comparison to the Spectre line its not as expensive :)

    - From my understanding the AMD Ryzen is a much better laptop performance wise? but if its not by much then I might just get the i5 intel 11th gen?

    - possible games to play Sc2, Cod maybe some RTS games. But for the most part the ill be using it for travel and just browsing.

Thanks in advance for all your help!!! :)

Clueless dude needs an laptop for art

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 01:14 PM PST

I'm super clueless about technology and computers for starters. I'm in the process of trying to figure it all out and it seems like I need a good graphics card and lots of memory?

I'm looking for a laptop that can keep up with my digital art on photoshop and my photo editing. My toshiba stalls and freezes constantly and I think it's time for an upgrade. I have a drawing pad and pen that I plug in. Any suggestions??

    How to reinstall preinstalled Windows

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 12:59 PM PST

I don't know if this is the right place to post this so feel free to take this down.

I did a factory reset today with a USB and the media creation tool, however I am now facing issues with my Asus laptop. It has something to do with the drivers and even though I reinstalled all of them and followed the support document they provide, it doesn't work.

I was wondering if there was a way to reinstall Windows again, but this time with all of the original software and drivers.

Help me out if you can

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 12:05 PM PST

Hello, i really need help with a Lenovo legion 5 decide. They are two models The gtx model are a little bit cheaper but it's very small the price differences.

-Rayzen 5 4600h and rtx 2060 (80wh battery, 16gb ram, 512 gb pci express storage and 144hz refresh rate)

-Rayzen 7 4800h and gtx 1660ti (all same expect the refresh rate , here only 60hz.....)

I saw the 4600h is more cooler then the 4800h. I will buy this laptop for long term (i know i need to wait for the rtx 3000 series but if they will be over priced i will buy between this two model).

Battery life is important for me ( only on idle mode, i know it can't be stay on 12 hours but i don't know the differences between then here)

I'm not a big competitive player but for long term i think the 144hz is more important.

My question is the 4600h is enough for the rtx card?(btw i don't know 80w or 115w version). I like to edit videos ONLY in 1080p, i'm not a professional editor

    Asus ZenBook Flip 13 (11th gen i5/8gb vs i7/16gb)

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 11:14 AM PST

I've been looking to buy something I can take with me to my college classes. I am an artist and I do some light game development in Unity for my classes. Is the $250 price difference worth the extra oomph in the i7/16gb variant? I don't want to spend any extra dollars I don't need to, since this is just to take on the go and do homework at the college as opposed to waiting until I get home to do stuff, but I also don't want to be bottlenecked by the stuff I may do; I'm not sure how much power I need.

Aspire switch 5 doesn't work with dell 6000 dock

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 11:10 AM PST

Hey guys, I needed temporary setup until i can buy an new computer, and I tried connecting my asus aspire switch 5 to my q27 hp monitor via my dell 6000 dock, it doesn't work properly. I want to play league of legends, it works perfectly fine on the aspire switch 5, but as soon as I connect it to the monitor it starts lagging outrageously. The thing that confuses me was that it worked perfectly fine when connected to my tv, or when I connected the dock with the monitor to my other laptop (cant use, its mainly for work) any ideas how to fix it? Also i can't enable fullscreen mode ingame.... Does that have anything tk do with it?

Thanks if you made it till here, have a nice day and be safe!!

Laptop for Photo Editing (Color Accuracy/Reproduction) - UK

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 09:50 AM PST

    LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

    * Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: £1200-1300 * Are you open to refurbs/used? Yes * How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Screen Quality > Portability > Performance > Battery Life * How important is weight and thinness to you? Quite Important * Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 14" or 15.6" ideally * Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Photo Editing (Photoshop, Lightroom etc) * If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? No * Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? No * Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Essentially a good quality screen with color accurate reproduction

    Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a laptop for my girlfriend, she's a professional photographer and doesn't need an incredibly powerful machine, in terms of powerful I'd say, it'd have to be able to run Photoshop sessions, Lightroom etc, and for example, web browsing (a lot of tabs for example). The main thing I'm looking for is for a good quality screen with good color accuracy and good portability (so, not a gaming laptop's thickness/weight).

Found this Legion 7i with 100% Adobe RGB screen - https://www.box.co.uk/81YT001HUK-Lenovo-Legion-7i_2943296.html

Any other options? I know about the new ones coming out with the new Zen3 CPUs but availability for those will be April at minimum I'm guessing.
