Laptop primarily for programming (web dev & data science) Posted: 30 Jan 2021 11:47 PM PST Can anyone suggest a non-apple laptop that is available in India mainly for programming purposes which primarily include full stack web dev & data science?
Non apple because it seems that natively developed software is still not available on M1 Air laptops. And I am not sure when the rumored M1 X MacBook's are going to be out. Also should I wait for any laptops that are going to come out this year? [link] [comments] |

Trying to find a good university laptop and casual gaming laptop [AUD $1500 - $2000] Posted: 30 Jan 2021 11:48 PM PST Hi everyone! I am currently in the process of looking for a new laptop for university and I've found a couple of laptops that seem good to me. Does anyone have any laptop suggestions or can tell me which laptop would be the best pick out of the one's I have chosen? Thank you so much for your help :) Main things I need are - Webcam - Decent battery - Good build quality (not going to cause me problems a year or two down the line) These are the laptops I've been interested in: https://www.newegg.com/global/au-en/shadow-black-hp-omen-15-dh1050nr/p/N82E16834272036?item=N82E16834272036&nm_mc=knc-googleauadwords-global-mobile&cm_mmc=knc-googleauadwords-global-mobile-_-gaming laptops--hp--34272036&source=googleshopping https://www.harveynorman.com.au/asus-rog-zephyrus-g14-14-inch-r5-4600h-16gb-512gb-gtx1650ti-4gb-gaming-laptop.html *Doesn't have a webcam, can get a clip on one but a bit of a pain. Thank you again for any help :) [link] [comments] |

Looking for a budget business laptop. No gaming mostly research & document creation. Please help:) Posted: 30 Jan 2021 10:08 PM PST Trying to stay under $600. I'm in the legal field w/lots of law school debt and on unemployment. Lenovo? Acer? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Looking for a new laptop as a Canadian engineering student, need advice Posted: 30 Jan 2021 10:37 PM PST I've been using the oldest thinkpad for the past 3 years studying physics and engineering and it's literally falling apart at this point. I use it mostly for browsing the web, taking notes, watching series and basic prog (it has 8gb ram and still handles my 30+ chrome tabs like a champ). I currently do CAD and simulations on a separate desktop computer, which doesn't have amazing specs either however. I initially wanted to get another inexpensive laptop, but I feel like I could use a longer lasting and better-performing one. I live in Canada though, so my options are limited and the prices are quite high. I just saw a great offer on a new Lenovo Ideapad Flex 14 (for 829C$) and I like the idea of sticking to Lenovo, plus having a portable 2-in-1 with Ryzen 7 4700U performances. However, because I'll have to upgrade my desktop computer for better performance eventually, a part of me feels like I should get an even better laptop so it can run CAD and sims. Even with its great CPU, I'm guessing the Ideapad would fall short with 8gb RAM? Would something with an older processor but 16gb ram work better? Is a dedicated graphics card really useful for CAD? I'd like to avoid splurging on a gaming laptop unless it's absolutely necessary, but nothing under 1000-1200C$ really seems to beat the Ideapad in terms of specs. If I find another good deal on a model with RAM that isn't soldered, I have 8gb DDR4 cards I could possibly use to upgrade it. What do you think? Any advice or suggestion is appreciated! Buying a refurbished laptop a good/bad idea? Posted: 31 Jan 2021 05:52 AM PST I can't find a Lenovo flex that has good Ram under $675 unless it's comes in a open box or refurbished. TIA [link] [comments] |

Yes, but only from amazon refurbished.
I just want it to be a decent performer. Form factor doesn't matter
Not at all.
No
Light video editing . I used to freelance for a news channel. Might start video editing again. Nothing crazy though.
GTA - V if possible. (:
-can stretch the budget to 30k if the price increase gives me significantly more performance.

Looking for a budget laptop - UK Posted: 31 Jan 2021 04:17 AM PST Total budget: £300 absolute max. I would prefer a refurb, I assume I can get more for my money this way? I just want something functional - currently running a refurbed pink Toshiba Satellite that I was gifted 10 years ago. Needless to say, it's seen better days but has continued on (slowly) like an absolute trooper. I just want something that I don't feel sorry for/worry about exploding every time I turn it on. Mainly to be used for producing documents, browsing, Netflix & the rare Sims 3/4 or Age of Empires 2 binge (I know, I'm living in the past) Would prefer as light and as thin as reasonably possible but isn't a huge deal breaker. I don't envisage myself going anywhere I might need long battery life but as always, the more the better. Current screen is 16", would like to stay around this size. CD tray, USB port, SD card ports all essential. Full-size keyboard preferred. More modern features like touch screens would be nice but certainly not essential. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 31 Jan 2021 03:31 AM PST CompSci student, looking for a quiet and fast laptop with decent battery for coding/blender and maybe video editing. Basically a cheap and Windows installed version of MacBook Pro, if that makes sense :) Budget-1300$ I'm thinking about Acer A315-55G-77TE, but you're welcome to suggest anything else Stats of that Acer one: 15.6", Intel® Core™ i7-10510U, upgradable 8 GB DDR4, 1 TB HDD, NVIDIA® GeForce® MX230 2GB VRAM, USB 2.0x1, USB 3.1x2 FreeDos and 1920x1080 FHD [link] [comments] |
Best 3000$ gaming and Adobe premiere machine Posted: 31 Jan 2021 03:07 AM PST LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
3000$. Will be purchasing in us
Performance>heat>weight=battery life=build quality
Anything that is under 2.5kg which is not very very thick.
13-15
Adobe premiere, games (valorant,control,RDR2,cyberpunk,minecraft with mods and shadow of the tomb raider, rocket league, cod)
Atleast 240hz in eSports titles like valorant and cs. 50+ fps on cyberpunk rt ultra with dlss on. 60+ fps on the other games.
A fast screen if possible with atleast 2 usb-A ports and an Ethernet jack. A fast screen for eSports titles (144hz+)
I want something that can give 6-7 hrs of battery on very minimal use (word documents,YouTube,Netflix etc.). Doesn't get super hot to touch/throttles. Shouldn't get loud unless I start gaming, and high fan speed is ok unless it flies away. RGB isn't a problem nor a necessity. Would prefer as little plastic as possible. I am in no rush so even the newer rtx 3000 series isn't a problem. I would prefer amd because it's better for my workflow but if there is no option, I could settle for intel. I prefer as less Gimmicks as possible. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Jan 2021 11:50 PM PST My current personal laptop was bought used in 2017, I have no idea how old it actually is. 15 inch, freaking heavy. I have a bad back from severe scoliosis and carrying it around daily has actually made it worse (I'm a student). The internal battery needs horribly replaced, as the entire thing refuses to even turn on or run if its' not plugged into a socket. My mom has decided to to just replace it entirely anyway, given its' age, and I do have preferences for the new one but I also would really like to spend the least amount of money possible as she is a single mother and I hate to be a financial burden. I originally argued to just replace the battery to save $$$ but now that I have to take painkillers to survive a day of carrying it around without feeling severe muscle fatigue, I gave in because she insisted on it. I use it for some casual gaming and digital art here and there which is why I'd like to have a good sized amount of storage, but if not, that's one of the things I can work around. If you could find something that meets all/most of these things I'd really appreciate it :)
Thanks in advance ! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Jan 2021 07:17 PM PST I already know gaming laptops aren't ideal but as of now I can't get a desktop. Had a good one but I'm now in the military and can't carry around a desktop for the time being. I'm looking for a gaming laptop I can use for work and obviously gaming. I tried looking around but want to see what the best ones are to get? Price range probably max 2,000 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jan 2021 01:49 PM PST Hi, me again (sorry)! Unfortunately I wasn't able to purchase the previous laptop I wanted due to funds, I had to track back & really find a more affordable laptop & have come across these 2 laptops, can someone tell me which would be better? My reasons for a laptop is mainly to play League Of Legends, I understand these machines probably won't run games like Minecraft & more demanding games. I would also like to be able to share my screen via discord with as little lag as possible, so the faster for League & less lag overall the better! I'm from the UK & will add how much each will cost me also; many thanks! Option 1: Price - £529 HP Pavilion 14-Ce3510sa (Windows 10) (14") Processor: i5 Quad Core 1ghz / 3.6 ghz 6MB Cache RAM: 8 GB DDR4 (2666 mhz) Storage: 512 GB SSD Option 2: Price £499 DELL Inspiron 15 3000 (Win 10 64-bit) (15.6") Processor: Ryzen 5 3500u Quad Core 2.1 ghz / 3.7 ghz 4MB Cache RAM: 8GB DDR4 (2400 mhz) Storage: 256 GB SSD I can afford both of these laptops but of course, if the Dell is better worth, I'd much rather purchase that one, I'm sorry this was a bit of a long one, I know some basics of specs but not sure which would be better for what I'd like to do on a laptop, if you could help I'd really appreciate it! Feel free to ask me any further questions relating to this post which may help picking the correct one (or another laptop altogether) many thanks! [link] [comments] |

U.S.A. Seeking longevity for cheap (<$450) Posted: 30 Jan 2021 09:44 PM PST Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: $450.00 Are you open to refurbs/used? No, I've had a bad experience. How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Build quality, Battery life, Performance, then, lastly, form factor. How important is weight and thinness to you? Not very important at all. Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 14 inches or greater, please. Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. No serious gaming or CPU heavy programs, mostly just video streaming. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? I would only really be interested in playing some older games, which I suspect could be run on most anything these days. Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I would love something that isn't too fancy, but will hold its quality over time. If possible, I would love a laptop that is well designed enough to last at least 5 years, barring any user error. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I don't need anything fancy, and cheaper suggestions would be wonderful. However, if buying something marginally more expensive now could save me money, time, and frustration down the road, then I'll be open to it. Thank you all for any help you can give me!
