Galaxy S20+ Ultra BEE NOISE LOOPING AUDIO coming from speaker?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 03:30 PM PST

EDIT: Updated the video so the audio works. Ironic.

I got this phone about two months ago from AT&T and everything has been working fine. Today I was scrolling Facebook and a video autoplayed with some audio that appeared to hang on the first second (at least, that's where I think this audio came from) the video was not related to bees, but the audio sure sounds like it.

I closed all open apps and the audio persisted. I restarted my phone and the audio played through the power down screen up until the very moment the power shut off.

After restarting, the audio went away. I thought all was fine until an hour or so later, when it played out of nowhere. I was not on Facebook or playing any videos. This time, I tried optimizing (clearing the cache, etc. whatever the auto optimization does), and the audio was fixed.

Any thoughts as to why this is happening and what I can do to prevent it from happening again? Or is it a hardware issue? I have no idea. Included is a screen recording showing I have no apps open other than the recorder.

TIA for any help, and I hope I posted this in the right sub.

Where can I see a list of U2F keys in chrome?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 08:31 AM PST

Is there really no list of security keys that I activated? I'm using the built in fingerprint version.

How am i supposed to remember where I need these keys if I switch phones? This 2FA stuff never thinks about changing, losing or breaking your phone.

What is this weird icon that keeps appearing?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 09:59 PM PST

    https://imgur.com/a/vyFh19y
For the past week sometimes I will see a weird generic icon appear on the second screen of my phone. It looks like when you uninstall an app and there's leftovers but the problem is this is a system app (Files) so I can not uninstall it. When I check the apps the Files app is still there. Is this a sign of malware?

Recommend an app / method for improving lockscreen notification visibility?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 02:15 PM PST

Right now I'm using a (rooted) Pixel 4a that I very much enjoy.

However, I miss the days when my poor eyesight could differentiate the little notification icons when my phone is locked. They're all grey little circles at this point. I would love something with either bigger icons, color, or more data that helps me differentiate from a few feet away.

I don't mind premium apps but I do mind anything insecure / that will require me to double-unlock my phone.

Can anything accomplish this in 2021?

    Pixel 3 - Wireless debugging

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 03:48 PM PST

Could use some ideas on how to solve this. I have a project I'm working on (r/RetroArcher)... it utilizes ADB to start a program on an android device. In my testing everything works perfectly with Nvidia Shield TV and Bravia TV as they both seem to use the same port (5555). Now I am testing on my phone and I have some issues.

The first issue is the ADB port is randomized every time the option is enabled. The second issue is the option is automatically turned off after the phone restarts.

Can either of these be solved without rooting the device?

I thought about using MacroDroid (similar to tasker) to automatically enable the wifi debugging setting when the phone boots; however it appears it's unable to do so (unless I am missing something). Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Regarding FM radio feature on android phones.

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 07:10 PM PST

I have a LG Stylo4. It has a built in app that when you have headphones plugged they're used as a antenna for the phone to be used as a FM radio.

Today I thought it would be a good idea to tune into my local NOAA weather radio station which would be 162.5 on the FM dial. However the app has the dial only go up to 108 FM at the highest setting.

My Googlefu failed me. I could not find a app that would let me tune into my local weather radio frequency WITHOUT HAVING TO USE WIFI OR DATA. I just wanted the ability of using my phones radio receiver ability to listen to the weather.

My big question is it a software constraint to restrict frequency reception to between 86 to 108 Fm? Or is it hardware? I don't want to have to get a separate radio if I don't have to. Not when I already bring my cell phone everywhere with me.

I see it alot online, website services & people claiming they can install spyware on cell phones just by clicking a link in a text message, giving them complete access. How many of these websites are for real? And where do people claiming to do this learn to do it and keep up with all new loopholes?

Navigation Gestures without hints broken since Android 11

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 03:15 PM PST

I use navigation bar gestures with hints turned off. This has worked fine for Android 9 and 10. But since my S20 Ultra updated to 11 I've run into issues.

If the keyboard is open, a swipe up to go home will always hit space bar before going home leaving my texting app with a bunch of "drafts". Or whatever app I'm in using the keyboard will have a space left wherever the cursor was when I tried to swipe home.

If I'm in an app that scrollable, it always detects a tiny scroll before going home. This doesn't cause a particular issues, but illustrates the problem isn't only with keyboard open.

I've tried multiple launchers including default, and multiple keyboards including default. all combos result in the issue

If I enable hints this doesn't happen, but hints weren't needed before, and I prefer not having hints.

Using Google keyboard and lg keyboard for Swype typing.

When I had my old phone, I just had to Swype near the letters and the position l prediction would be pretty accurate.

Now I need to Swype direction on the letter or the phone will not be able to guess the word.

How does OIS help phone cameras?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 06:45 PM PST

Most budget phones don't have OIS (optical image stabilization). Is it actually that useful? I just hold my phone steady for a second and the photo comes out fine so what's the point of OIS unless you have trembling hands?

Hearing no notifications when volume is on

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 10:36 AM PST

Hi I have a Samsung Galaxy A71 ( with Telus in Canada) and am having an issue that started last night with notification sounds with Messages, FB Chart, Whats app, etc. I have the sound on and all the apps are set to audio sounds for notifications but the phone only vibrates when I receive messages. I have tried the following but with no success.

Made sure the volume was on and loud. No not disturb is off. Power cycled the phone. I have made sure that notification sounds are on. I have cleared the data cache in the messages app. Made sure new messages have an assigned sound. I have reset my setting through the general management menu.

This is really frustrating to say the least. Does anyone have any ideas that I have missed?

Good camera app, with a good looking ui

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 12:05 PM PST

So I recently installed Lineage OS on my poco F1 and I am really missing the stock camera app. I have the google camera port, but it still doesn't have some features like "pro mode" where I can set the setting just the way I want and the slow motion isn't working/ is crashing the app(known issue). I was wondering if there are any good apps on the play store (or anywhere actually) that have the features and a good looking ui. I have tried the open camera and some other apps but the ui is actually disgusting (to me) and everything seems laggy/glitchy and unfinished I guess.

(Virus???) Android 11 INSANE system UI usage

Does anyone know anything about an android (11) system UI virus? Last christmas I got a friend request on reddit and on the profile was a reddit link. Dumb ass me was tripping on ketamine and clicked it without thinking. It was a mailicious fake reddit link that looked EXCACTLY like a real reddit link: h t t p s : / / w . w . w . r e d d i t . c o m / abcxyz.

It opened chrome and then redirected me trough several websites and I ended up one 'one of those dating websites'. I have a few months old S20 5G and I've factory resetted my phone after this. But even after the factory reset I'm noticing very fast battery drain on some days and I'm strongly convinced I have a Spyware virus on my phone, but maybe I'm just hella paranoid. IDK. Could use some help. I have been experimenting and researching for soooooooooo long and it has become one of my (potencially OCD) obsessions and I just don't know anymore what/who to believe. It might just be an android bug and me overthinking (I'm the most extreme hypochondriac you'll meet) but yeah, IDK.

Anyone know how to use built in TTS for stuff that the screen cant cover?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 01:59 PM PST

The Text to speech is limited to only reading what's on the screen but not everything can fit on a screen is there a way to bypass this? For example if i play text to speech it reads till the end of the screen but there is way more text if i scroll down that would be skipped and i would need to hit play each time i scroll down for it to read what's on the same page

Fujitsu Arrows (running on Android 7) cannot connect to hidden wi-fi network

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 05:40 PM PST

My grandpa has an old Fujitsu phone. He's currently staying with us but can't connect to our network. It's hidden because neighborhood kids keep stealing our wifi. Is there any way for his phone to be able to connect to a hidden network? There is no option to select "hidden network" in the advanced settings.

    UI 3.0 Issues with tethering

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 11:31 AM PST

Hi, I have the Samsung 20 and I've been hearing how great the new update, UI 3.0 is... but I keep running into problems (ex. have to pull down extra far to adjust the brightness). Anyway, as per the title, I'm finding after the update I'm not able to tether other phones as well. I'd have to reset it or something for it to work (turn off mobile data and turn it back on). Otherwise, the other phones say connected, but "internet may not be available". So does anyone know how to make it work more efficiently, which settings should I keep on/ turn off?

I can't make my browser open links by default

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 01:42 PM PST

    Settings > apps> default apps> opening links> Brave/Chrome/whatever, I can't change the 'ooen supported links' settings.

I've tried disabling Chrome, reinstalling Brave, and clearing defaults. Googling is almost useless; googling 'can't... Supported links' results in 'how to change these settings', all of which say the same thing, none of which answer my question.

Where can I buy a US unlocked HTC U12+?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 08:43 AM PST

I must preface this by saying I collect phones. I also use all of my phones and switch between them every other day, it's weird but it's just what I do. Anyway, I love HTC and I already have a U11. Would anyone know where I could buy a U12+ that is US Unlocked (works on Verizon) that isn't listed at like $500+? I've seen international unlocked phones for about $300. Should I take a chance on the international phones and just return it if it doesn't work? The U11 I bought was supposedly international unlocked but when I got it it ended up working on Verizon. Would the U12+ be the same?
