Looking for a Laptop for Basic Tasks for Around $600

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 11:08 PM PST

    • Total budget:
Would love to stay on the cheaper end at $500 or under, but willing to go up to $700 if need be.
    • Are you open to refurbs/used?
      Nope, would prefer new.
    • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Battery life is top of the list for me. I need something with a long battery life so I can play D&D without having to stop and plug it in every couple of hours. Performance is right after that and beyond that, I'm not too picky.
    • How important is weight and thinness to you?
I prefer the thicker, sturdier looking laptops, but I'm not opposed to thinner models. It'll be barely leaving my apartment, so it's not terrible if it could sink like a brick.
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
Anywhere from 14 to 16 inches.
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Nothing too complicated. Just needs to run basic art and writing programs, as well as Netflix.
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
Not looking for a gaming laptop.
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Needs to last me more than a few years if possible, definitely needs a decent keyboard considering how much writing I'll be doing, and a good chunk of storage for drawings and pictures.
    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I've been using the same Compaq Presario CQ-60 that I got on my 13th birthday. It's been over a decade now and I couldn't seek out newer options because of financial troubles. My laptop's been chugging along all of these years and it does what I need it to do, so honestly, replacing it hasn't been a priority. My roommates are worried that it's gonna crap out on me any day now, so I think it's time to move on. My fiance has an Acer Aspire 5 (I think it's 5, anyways) and he loves it. I've been thinking about getting one myself, but I see a lot of divided opinions on their brand. It was a little nerve-wracking, so I wanna look at other options.

Mainly League of Legends, Apex Legends, and Overwatch. Lowest settings for all of them are completely fine but 60 FPS would be ideal.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

SSD, a nice keyboard would be great, and enough memory to be running multiple programs at once (Spotify, Chrome, Word, OneNote).

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

I bought the Acer Aspire E 15 back in 2018 and honestly I find using it a pain for what I need. It's looking like I might have to use only a laptop for about 6 months for daily use. I'd like something responsive and good for multitasking. My usual use case for a laptop would be running 3 to 4 light programs for referencing and note taking but I feel like my current laptop can't even handle that effectively. Thank you in advance for the help!

    PS4 Twitch Streaming Laptop (UK)

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 11:09 PM PST

    Hi everyone,

I stream apex legends (action/battle royale if game type matters) from my ps4 to twitch through the console and I'm ready to upgrade the quality of my streams by upgrading my setup with a new laptop and streaming console to laptop using an elgato hd60s capture card. (laptop needed over pc for portability).

    LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

    • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

      £600 (UK)

    • Are you open to refurbs/used?

      used yes, refurbs no

    • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

performance is key as i don't want laggy streams, i need it to be able to handle everything smoothly, battery life is second. i don't want touchscreen or 2 in 1 or anything like that.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you?

i am a uni student so when corona isn't a thing i'd hope to be able to carry this laptop to my classes so a comfortable carry weight would be helpful. thinness doesn't really matter

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

    at least 13 inches please

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

if any gaming was to be done on the actual laptop, it would be the likes of among us, sims 4 at a push but not likely. will need to run obs studio smoothly.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

as mentioned i won't really be using this laptop for gaming, more for streaming the gaming from my console.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

i hate loud fans so i would like to have a laptop that can do the job without it huffing and puffing the whole way through

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

Not really relevant but I recently bought an early 2020 MBA (i3, 8GB, 256GB) and it wasn't good enough for the job, the fans were going crazy and it ran obs very slowly once i began adding my animate scenes and layers in. Selling it to put money towards my new laptop.

Huawei Matebook D14 vs HP 15s - some input please

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 08:23 PM PST

    Hi,
I'm choosing between these two. Mainly going to be used for browsing the web and office work. Could possibly do some gaming if possible but not that important. Both are new from store with opened box for around 375$. Because of similar powered processors, the larger hard drive on the HP and slightly faster ram I would probably go with that one but I'd like some input please.

    Huawei Matebook D 14:
    AMD Ryzen 5 3500U-processor
    AMD Radeon Vega 8-graphics
    8 GB DDR4 RAM 2400mhz
    256 GB PCIe NVMe SSD

    Looking for a mid-range multi-purpose laptop - less than $2,500 AUD

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 10:32 PM PST

I'm currently rocking a roughly 8 year-old Asus "gaming" laptop ("gaming" in that it has a low-mid mobile GPU) that was pretty decent back then (and has been kept alive by switching to linux, adding more memory, and swapping in an SSD), but I think it's finally time I looked for a new laptop.

    • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

No more than $2,500 AUD (purchasing from Australia), but preferrably less - I don't think I need the performance of a laptop that will cost the full $2,500.

    • Are you open to refurbs/used?

      Prefer not

    • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

Ultimately I'm looking for a balance of all of these - I don't want some 1.5" thick, 17" screen behemoth, nor do I want a tiny 12" macbook air (let alone an Apple, for that matter).

It needs to perform well, but I don't need some insanely high-specced workstation grade machine with 64GB memory and 4TB worth of NVMe disk.

I'm thinking in the range of a quad/hex core CPU, 16GB memory, 500GB-1TB disk (SSD/NVMe)Battery life is pretty important, as is build quality.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you?

It needs to travel well, so pretty important, but it doesn't need to be paper thin or featherweight.

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

Something in the other of 14" to 15", preferrably with a thin bezel.

If possible I'm looking for a QHD/1440p display, but I'm sure I could make do with a 1080p display. I do not want a 4k screen - I feel this will impact battery life unnecessarily and I just don't see the need for it.

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

      No CAD or video/photo editing.

If I'm gaming at all, it'll be fairly light and I'm not expecting to be able to play any new AAA titles (doesn't need to be able to run Crysis ;) )

I need to be able to have 30-40 chrome tabs open, plus Spotify, plus VS Code, plus a handful of terminal windows, as well as potentially one or two modest virtual machines running (e.g. two VMs each with 2-4GB memory, 2-4 vCPUs), without stuttering or lagging much or at all.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

See above, not a huge consideration for me.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

Good keyboard and touchpad are a must (something near/at/above the level of the Dell XPS keyboard/touchpad).

I don't see myself using a touch screen

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

My use-case is to have a general purpose laptop for leisure (but not any serious gaming) as well as productivity/multi-tasking, that travels well and has good a good display.

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

      Not at all.
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
      15" +

      N/A.

      N/A.

Reliable build quality. They want this to last 5+ years.

This laptop will be for browsing the internet, life admin, playing solitaire. It's not even for streaming movies. I think they'll feel better spending £750, or a little more, I've tried to tell them they don't need to, but then again they do really want the build quality. Thanks all.

5 year laptop just died :(. Looking for a laptop around 1000-1500usd to use for Uni + heavy gaming

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 01:51 AM PST

    Hi

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:**

Around 1000-1500, i might purchase in the US or hope to have it shipped as im currently not there but will return soon

    Are you open to refurbs/used?

    No

    • **How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

Performance is a priority, battery life is nice but i think most of the time while gaming you use it plugged in (at least in my experience, all my previous laptops had horrible fps unless plugged in)

How important is weight and thinness to you?

My previous laptop was a 17 inch, so i dont really mind size.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.**

Not really but id prefer a big screen. Been using the 17inch for 5 years.

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.**

Lots of different gaming, I used to play league but dont play much anymore so things like witcher and r6 and other similar games.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

I want to be able to run games like Rainbow 6 and League on highest settings with 80-100+ fps. Not sure if thats unrealistic for a laptop but i always wanted to play games on high quality but never had the means to.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

    Nah im good.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

Had my HP envy laptop for 5 years, very early I was having fps issues and i realized it wasnt a gaming laptop despite the i7. I admit i dont know much about laptops and what to look for, so i thought i'd ask for help. If you need any extra information let me know and i'll be happy to provide it

Looking for a 14" Ryzen 4000 laptop around the the price of $800.

I am looking to get a laptop with at least a Ryzen 4500U, 8gb of ram, 500gb ssd, decent display and good battery life. I have been looking at the acer swift 3, asus vivobook s14, ideapad 5 slim and the dell inspiron 14 5000.

So far from the reviews, the acer, asus and lenovo have disappointing screens and the dell has a very small battery.

What are some of the more reliable laptops?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 01:42 AM PST

Have spent literally days trying to figure out my next laptop purchase. Reliability is a must. I don't want my laptop to break down suddenly just like that.

After looking at surveys, it gets even more confusing. Some surveys say that Microsoft surface products are really reliable. Yet there are quite a number of complaints in regards to their products.

Other surveys say ASUS is reliable, but again, there are many complaints of ASUS in terms of reliability. Personally I have bought 2 ASUS products and they both failed on me.

In contrast, almost all surveys say Acer is quite bad, but I am typing this from my Acer all in one, and to be honest, although nothing fancy, this Acer has been problem-free.

So.....which one??? Right now I have narrowed my choices to two options - microsoft surface laptop 3 and asus vivobook s15.

I really like Microsoft Surface Laptop 3, but super expensive and theres quite a lot of reliability issues with them, even though this is a premium device.

Asus vivobook S15, is an affordable, decent laptop. But will this thing be reliable as a result of that?

Midrange ($500-1000) any size laptop for word processing and gaming

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 09:47 PM PST

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

    • Anywhere from $500 - 1000.

    Are you open to refurbs/used?

    Highly prefer new.

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

    • Don't need a 2-in-1. Performance > battery life > build quality.

How important is weight and thinness to you?

    • The lighter the better, as long as it's not something as sizeable as the upper scale Acer Predator gaming laptops.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

    • No preference but experience with 1080p 15" and 17" panels.

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

    • Chrome is my browser of choice. Otherwise, I would just want to be able to play something like Apex Legends with Discord open.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

    • Apex Legends, Valorant, and FIFA at 120/144hz, preferably on medium if not high.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

    • Implied with the last bullet but will pay premium for a 120/144hz panel. Build quality is a given but any input on built-in keyboards would be nice as well. Coming from mechanicals, I doubt many will come close but if there's something that's even remotely close to that experience, I'm all ears.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

    • Now, this will only be used for word processing and multiple tabs of Chrome open or gaming with Discord open. I haven't looked into it but I'm not sure if 8GB of RAM will be alright for my usage, especially since I am naturally used to having 16GB in all my builds for several years now. I don't really pay attention to my RAM usage, though I know Chrome just eats it up like there's no tomorrow. Any input on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

For the sake of budget and availability, I've been looking at the Gateway Creator notebooks from Walmart as they're one of the best budget options in terms of performance (the Ryzen 4600H version is only $100 more). I could simply upgrade the RAM and have a pretty good laptop for ~$900 but I'm not familiar with the laptop landscape in general, whether it's for work or gaming purposes. Just wanted to pick people's brains on laptops. Thanks in advance!

Looking for a laptop for University and hobbies.

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 09:31 PM PST

    • **Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:*\*

Purchasing in Turkey with a budget of 7100 TL.

    • **Are you open to refurbs/used?*\*

    No.

    • **How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?*\*

From high to low: Performance -> Form Factor -> Build Quality -> Battery Life. 2-in-1 would be nice though since I'm going to university soon which means note taking would be convenient.

    • **How important is weight and thinness to you?*\*

Not at all, but the laptop shouldn't be too thick nor too heavy.

    • **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.*\*

Big screen size would be nice so around 15 inches or more.

    • **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.*\*

Mainly coding though will use Blender and Unreal Engine now and then. Nothing serious though. Would like to play games too but again, nothing serious. Low/Medium settings would suffice.

    • **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?*\*

Around 30 FPS and low to medium will be fine.

    • **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?*\*

Would like a good trackpad that doesn't have clickable buttons and I would highly prefer an SSD.

    • **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.*\*

Also, what's the lowest price I can find the M1 MacBook Air for? I'm interested in that laptop too. Reason I'm asking this as someone I know has gone to Turkey and they will get me a laptop while they're there. So I'm researching and it's kinda a pain because lot's of stuff is in Turkish lol.

Also, please don't just end up replying "get a laptop from elsewhere".

Looking for a basic laptop in India (within 65-70k)

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 12:12 AM PST

Hi people! I have been putting off buying a laptop for college and work for a year now and I am absolutely clueless how to go about it. My current Acer laptop is agonizingly slow and has terrible battery life. The sound system is also fucked. The USB ports keep malfunctioning and I can't get ANY work done now.

I just need a laptop that will be fast with good battery life. I will be primarily using Word, Chrome/ Mozilla, and some torrenting. If you think the budget is too much for my requirements and i could one for a lower price then even better.

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

    65- 70000 rupees in India

    Are you open to refurbs/used?

    No.

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

    Performance> Battery Life> Form factor> Build quality.

    No preference.

USB ports, good touchpad, touch screen is a plus

Had terrible experience with MacBooks earlier so don't want to get one again.

Gaming laptop 13 inch for 1500 USD

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 05:56 PM PST

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: 1500 USD (can stretch to 2000)

Are you open to refurbs/used? No

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Build quality very important, no overheating problems - will likely be using the whole day Battery life not important - will use plugged in most of the times

How important is weight and thinness to you? Very important. My 3.02 lb macbook pro seems perfect to me so will want something close to it (perhaps max of 3.5 lb)

Do you have a preferred screen size? 13 inch (14 may work)

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Light gaming (Dota 2) Lots of video streaming (Twitch)

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Dota 2 at max settings (30fps) Would prefer if it can load newer games (eg. Cyberpunk) at low-medium settings, but not a hard requirement.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I may be traveling to India for some time so will want to buy it from a company that has international warranty and support. (eg. I think Razer may not be well supported in India but ASUS might be)

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I have a Macbook pro 13 inch from work. Really like the form factor, size and weight. So looking for something similar with Windows and a better gfx card. Considering these 2 for now - https://www.razer.com/gaming-laptops/Razer-Blade-Stealth-13/RZ09-03102E52-R3U1 https://rog.asus.com/laptops/rog-zephyrus/rog-zephyrus-g14-series/spec/

    Looking for VR-capable 14" laptop for ~$1,200

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 02:43 PM PST

I'm looking at the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 with the Ryzen 7 4800HS and the nVidia GTX 1660 since it's on a boxing day sale.

My concern is now that it's almost a year old, is there anything coming out that would be better for the same money? Are there alternatives I should be looking at more closely?

    LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

    • Total budget and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
      $1,200 - $1500 Canadian, buying in Canada
    • Are you open to refurbs/used?
      Yes, from trustworthy sources
    • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Form factor (standard), performance, battery life, build quality
    • How important is weight and thinness to you?
Reasonably important, it's why I'm going with a smaller-than-usual size
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
      14" or below
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
      VR Gaming
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
Looking to play half life: Alyx at moderate quality or higher, 60 fps
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
      None
    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

Linux-friendly with Pen support and discrete GPU

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 03:56 PM PST

    LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

    • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

      • $1750-$2250 USD
    • Are you open to refurbs/used?

      • Yes.
    • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

      • Form factor (pressure-sensitive pen support, 2-in-1): ★★★★★ (hard requirement)
      • Performance: ★★★★★
      • Battery life: ★ (prepared to accept terrible battery life in return for better performance)
      • Build quality: ★★★★ (would like it to be durable enough to survive junior and senior year plus being taken to conferences or in-person job interviews (if those ever become a thing again), display needs to not scuff too much under heavy stylus use, will mostly be using it in 'draw' mode with an external keyboard and mouse, so an otherwise-good machine with a terrible keyboard, let's say, is okay.)
    • How important is weight and thinness to you?

      • It isn't; I am okay with lugging around a 10-kg 'thicc boi' in return for getting the other features I want.
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

      • 15 inch diagonal, 1600x900 or higher
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

      • Packages/apps I'll be using the most: MyPaint, GIMP, Krita, Blender, KDEnlive, Godot, maybe some beginner/hobbyist/non-CS major tinkering with TensorFlow, Mixxx, MilkyTracker, Renoise, LMMS, Pitivi, occasional VirtualBox...
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

      • Mostly some emulators (PPSSPP, PCSX, MAME, Snes9x), Slime Rancher, I Hate Running Backwards, some older Source Engine stuff...
      • As long as all of these can stay close to 60 FPS with high detail, I'm happy. It needs to be performant, but I'm not expecting the mobile equivalent of, say, paired 3080 Ti cards (at least not for what I can afford to pay...).
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

      • I can live without an optical drive.
      • Should Must have a reasonably-accurate pressure-sensitive stylus support (1024 levels is fine for my workflow).
      • Needs to function with no issues under Ubuntu (I am okay with having to do a little command line trickery to configure it like I want it, but I'm not trying to become an expert in compiling a custom kernel/every package from source...).
      • Would prefer a GPU with at least a 4 GB frame buffer (would prefer nVidia, mainly because Cycles render engine and the AI/deep learning stuff I want to tinker with both still seem to be a bit more mature with CUDA than they are on OpenCL; that said, I'm open to going with AMD if the performance is good).
      • I'd prefer a machine with socketed RAM and easy access to the drives, but I realize I'm already asking for the moon here, so...
    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

      • If there simply isn't a machine in this price range with the features I want, I'd also be willing to consider a gaming/desktop-replacement machine with an external drawing tablet (somewhere, there's a list of inexpensive Huion and Monoprice models supported in the kernel), but this isn't the preferred route - I'd rather have one piece of kit.

Choosing an Eluktronics RP-17 coming from smaller laptops. (School/Work)

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 09:18 PM PST

Hey Guys! So I'm really looking at the Eluktronics RP-17 because it corrects the horrible webcam placement of the RP-15 model. Only problem is I worry its way too big for school and it sacrifices the aluminum material on the keyboard and lid. If anyone has switched to an RP-17 coming from a smaller laptop, I'd really appreciate if you share your experience with it, especially its mobility and build quality.

    Thanks!

Looking for a laptop for game development as well as gaming.

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 05:22 PM PST

    LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: ~$1300 USD Are you open to refurbs/used? Yes How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? I dont fully understand what form factor means here, but it primarily will be used on a desk plugged in so battery life is not the most important. Flexible on build quality if it remains reliable. A built in webcam is also preferred How important is weight and thinness to you? Not that important Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 14" or 15.6" Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. This will be a multi function laptop. Used for working remotely in game development (Unity), code compilation, as well as gaming (overwatch, pub G, TfT). While there wont be much video editing, a color accurate screen would be nice. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? overwatch, pub G, TfT Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Keyboard is important to me! I really liked the feeling of the asus G512LW, but I've seen bad reviews on the laptop as a whole. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. The only things i'm not super flexible on are the quality of the keyboard and a webcam.
