If I pay the subscription can I upload whatever I want, let the subscription run out, and access whatever I have but NOT store more until I pay again? That would be nice.

Or will the limit decrease upon the subscriptions end and what can't be contained will spill outside the glass :p

Will installing an APK and then turning off Unknown Sources result to APK disabling?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 04:32 AM PST

If I were to install an APK and then wanted to disabled Unknown Sources again to prevent accidental/malicious APK installations, will this interfere with the existing APK installed on the device?

Do I need to keep Unknown Sources enabled forever, if I plan to use an APK forever or I can install it and then go ahead and disable the option until I need it again for another APK?

AT&T One UI 3.0 Update Split Screen Missing Features

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 09:09 PM PST

Samsung S20+. Just received the update for One UI 3.0

Split Screen no longer functions like it did before and everything takes twice as long to do. Have to use the Edge App to retain functionality. I can no longer lock an app to the top of the screen and hot swap between apps quickly. Every interaction for split screen is now routed through the Edge app. Streamed video no longer keeps running because of this as its interrupted by having to go into the Edge app. Quick swapping is missing and when hitting Home it automatically hides both apps and shows as a single app in recent apps.

Is there any way to return to the previous functionality that is not tied into the Edge app? Is there any way to return to the 2.5 functionality? If not is it possible to revert back to 2.5 from 3.0? Any help would be greatly appreciated as this was my most used feature and this update seems like it was a big step backwards for it.

Screen problems on Huawei Mate 10 lite

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 05:06 PM PST

I don't know where to post this, so I'll try here. I've been using Huawei Mate 10 lite for almost three years now. Last year I accidentally dropped it and cracked the screen, but the phone continued to work just fine. More recently I started to notice that prettz often my screen would start to become oversensitive. Whenever I try to scroll through Youtube I accidentaly open videos that I didn't want to. Also when I'm using Google Books and when I want to highlight something it either changes the page or zooms out of the current page where I want to highlight. I don't know if it's a software or hardware issue. It seems to be hardware, because when I reset my phone to factory settings I still had the same problem.

Ignoring group chats on Android phone

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 04:43 PM PST

    Hi all,

iPhone user thinking about switching to Android for a few reasons, one being the ability to better ignore group texts I don't want to be in (no notifications and badges). I'm wondering if on Android phones when you turn notifications off for a certain group chat, does it also turn off notification badges for just that group text? I know on iPhone you would still get badges when "hide alerts" is enabled for a group chat and notification badges for iMessages overall is enabled (no way to turn badges off for just one group chat). Trying to figure out a way to completely ignore certain group texts (no notification alert or badges). Thanks!

How to restrict an app from using wifi or mobile data?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 07:55 PM PST

There is no option to restrict an app from using wifi or mobile data in my Pixel 3XL. I saw this feature on Oneplus phones and wanted to use myself for privacy concerns and to remove ads from offline apps.

If you guys have any app or any hidden feature that exists inside the stock android, please let me know . Thanks!

My phone still says it's filling up on space despite me deleted many things.

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 07:14 PM PST

I've deleted most of my photos, files, apps, and all of my videos. Despite that is keeps warning me I'm running out of space and shows I'm using 99% of my space. I've even restarted my phone and it continued. It also says I have over 400 MG of photos, and 13 GB of video on my device When I simply don't. I've already cleared most of the cach for most of my apps too.

Android Phone - Random outgoing calls

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 04:41 PM PST

Not a case of butt dialing or accidentally swiping or anything, but phone randomly called the support number for my phone carrier but I was no where near it and only noticed until my phone vibrated and I had to walk to pick up what notification it was and noticed the outgoing call. This has happened twice so far and not sure if im getting unnecessarily paranoid about it. Voice activation is not on. Even went and downloaded malwarebytes to check but nothing turned up.

Is it a case of my phone being hacked, a virus, spoofing, or something? Any help greatly appreciated.

Why don't file managers use the same paths to open the same image ?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 03:22 PM PST

I realise that title isn't exactly clear, but don't worry, I'll get to that. I'm using a Sony Xperia XA2 running Android 9, and I'll be using here the QuickPic Gallery mod available on XDA forums as image viewer.

So basically, my problem here is this: on most file managers, whenever I try opening an image with QP (using "Open As" then selecting said viewer), if I do display the filepath of the image from QP, the displayed file path seems to depend on the file manager used.

For instance, I've tried opening the same image on my sdcard with several file managers, and those were the displayed file paths (don't mind the displayed camera model in the metadata, it's just a very old image I got from a very old, different phone):

Needless to say, the displayed file paths are all different, despite pointing to the same file in the same folder. Most other file managers I've tested led to the same result as Amaze, with the exception of the native one from my phone and an old version (v4.1.6) of ES File Explorer, which behaved the same way as FMP.

Now, in the case of both FMP and my phone native manager, when I do open the image, I still have the ability to swipe left or right in QPGallery to look at the other images in the folder, while other managers prevent me from doing so.

Then I've repeated the same experiment, this time in a folder containing a .nomedia file (or a subfolder of it, I'm not really sure). Seeing as FMP and my phone native manager (and ES v4.1.6) had the same behaviour previously, I just limited to those two in the .nomedia case (again, don't mind the camera model):

And this time, not only did the path in FMP differ from the native one, but I couldn't even swipe anymore in the FMP case. I kept the ability to do so solely in the native and ES case.

I've tried the same thing with my phone-built in viewer, with the same results.

So now that the big wall of text is out of the way, I guess you can guess what my questions here are:

    • Why does the displayed file path differ from one file manager to the other ? Do they just "send" copies of the original file to the viewer, or something else altogether ?
    • What's responsible for affecting my ability to browse the folder from inside the image viewer ?

    Third party icon packs

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 03:13 PM PST

Could anyone tell me which UI support third party icons? I've been using my Note 20 Ultra for a while and the shape of icons (the weird round-cornered square) is really bugging me, I prefer circles. The packs on the Samsung store are atrocious and there's no way to use third party icons without a launcher, but they are still the same in the recent apps menu so I was hoping to use a default launcher.

The only one I know of is MIUI but I don't know if it allows you to change individual icons or just use a pack.

    Thanks!

    Snapchat constantly breaks my camera

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 01:43 PM PST

I have an s20 plus, and I use snapchat to text all of my friends. The issue I keep running into is that at least 3 times a day I get the "unable to open camera, exit application" message. This effectively shuts down my camera on my entire phone. Opening the normal camera app freezes and crashes, and nothing else that uses camera can be used. The only way I have found to fix this is to restart my phone. It's fine if it's once a week or something, but it's getting worse all the time. I'm restarting my phone constantly or trying to take a picture quickly but the camera is broken. I have uninstalled and cache wiped etc, I have no idea what to do with this garbage app cause it is my most used app. Any help is welcome.

Adjust volume settings by means other than button?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 01:22 PM PST

When Android first came out, you could use the dialer #1234567# (some number) to get a hardware settings and set the decibels for each volume increment. Is anything like this still work? If my volume button breaks, will I be able to adjust it from a back door method?

    How do we "mod" apps?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 04:10 AM PST

I'm not an android developer but I do know programming (C++, Python, into Linux stuff). I want to know how modding an apk works when the apps are not open source. Eg YouTube Vanced. YouTube is certainly not open source but YouTube Vanced exists, have extra features than the OG app, blocks ad, etc, etc... Or modded version of WhatsApp (WhatsApp OG, Gold, etc)...

    Edit: spelling

    Android Tablets for Artist

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 12:43 PM PST

Just a genuine question for r/AndroidQuestions. When do you think we'll see more Android Tablets with pressure sensitive pens for digital artist and art programs (i.e. Clip studio, Medibang, Autodesk sketchbook, etc.)?

I need more choices than Samsung or Apple.
