Dear OnePlus, Return To Your Roots. Both In Terms Of Your OS and Your Phones.

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 05:01 AM PST

The reason most of us are [or at least used to be] OnePlus fans is because the phones had cutting edge specs at reasonable prices. But another, and important, reason was the stock Android experience, with not much bloatware hogging up system resources and constantly tracking the user.

But looking at Oxygen OS 11, I don't even recognize it. It's extremely heavily skinned, comes preinstalled with SO much bloatware [that you can't uninstall], and has those annoying Red Cable Club notifications [which are almost ads at this point]. In addition to this, the phones are even getting more expensive. Where are the unique features of OnePlus? You went from making flagship killers to flagships.

I request you to return to your roots, which were the reasons for your success.

New OP8 owner here. I'm so glad I made the jump to an OP phone.

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 12:25 AM PDT

I've been using the MotoG5s plus for the last 3 years and though the phone is fine I felt like it was high time for an upgrade and I went with the OP8 (6GB/128GB) for a price of 510$(converted from inr with heavy discounts). I even got lucky and sold my G5splus for 40$. Haven't faced any issue with the new phone as such except for a slight issue with the latest update on COD game( which for now seems fixed). The cameras seem okay( some pictures came out great while others were just very mediocre).Any fix for it?The clear transparent case supplied with the box seems fine but if I had to get a new back case what should I get?

Best way to put OxygenOS back on my OnePlus 7 Pro

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 06:48 PM PST

I have LineageOS and TWRP installed on my phone and want to go back to OxygenOS, stock recovery, and relock the bootloader. What is the best process to do this?

    It happened - Oneplus settled...

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 06:16 AM PST

    ... with software updates.
First, they release a multi buggy android 10 update to OP 5/5T and then no more updates, the OP 5T was not 2 years old at that time. So OP broke the 2 years of updates promise and left 5/5T users with buggy phones.
Second, many 7T Pro users have not recieved OTA updates since the release in june (10.0.9). The download from support site is from august (10.0.10). That is three month ago!!! So the promise of bimonthly updates is broken too. The big question is, will it be trimonthly ?
Maybe OP has already abandoned last years top model and did it even before the Mclaren edition was one year old (released 10/10-2019)....

OnePlus finally released an app called HeyMelody, to update the buds from a non-OnePlus phone.

Support have just requested a video of Oneplus Bullets 2 Static during calls.

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 01:43 PM PST

I'm dumbfounded, OP Support chat have just asked for a video showing the static that people I call get when I call them.

OP please sort out the after sales support experience, this is embarrassing.

Oneplus 7T Tap to pay (Google Pay) doesn't work

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 02:01 PM PST

    Hello guys!

Since I got this phone, I cannot get gpay to work at any terminal. Google pay is setup correctly, i have tried it on unlocked bootloader (with magisk hide) and with locked bootloader as well. Same with stable build or open beta software.

    It never worked.

NFC is working, i can read tags, write them, i can even read contactless card... Sending images to other phone works flawlessly.. Every aspect of NFC just works.

So here I come for help. Any idea? Thanks.

My OP5 just died out of nowhere

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 06:10 AM PST

    Hi everyone,

So I have my beloved OP5 that I have been using since about 3 years now :(. I haven't had any major issues before this but today I was just surfing on chrome and out of nowhere, the phone hanged for a bit and then died down. Now I am getting no response from the phone whatsoever.

I feel kinda blue right now i) I loved this phone but more importantly ii) I had some unbacked up data and I'd be pretty sad if I wouldn't be able to get it back.

So here I come asking for help. What are the things I should try? First, what are some of the things I can do to get it back (with data if thats possible). If not, what can I do to reinstall it?

I was on the latest Android 10 update for OP5 btw.

Edit: For context, my phone was sufficiently charged but the storage was a little less (I think ~1 GB was free though)

I would really really appreciate your help on this, so thanks in advance!

    Verizon OP7P?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 07:02 PM PST

    Quick question (Verizon)

So for a OP7P to work with Verizon's 4g LTE network, does it have to be the Verizon+Unlocked or can it just be Unlocked? Thanks in advance.

Recently enamored with the 7 Pro - best place to pick one up these days?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 11:40 AM PST

I can't believe I passed up the opportunity to get a 7 Pro back when they were new, but better late than never for this seasoned phone-hopper. I'm on Visible (Verizon MVNO), and I'm from the USA, so from my cursory research I'd need the GM1917 model. Are there any good resources for getting a good deal on one of these bad boys?

T-Mobile 6T sometimes ignores SRGB screen calibration

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 10:02 AM PST

It happens about once every five or so times I unlock my phone. My phone is set to SRGB, but I can tell it's ignoring that because the screen becomes super saturated. If I lock it and turn the screen on again, it will often go back to SRGB.

I'm on the latest T-Mobile update that came out last week or so. Is this unique to TMO or does the international ROM do this, too?

Anyone still using an old OP phone?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 04:49 PM PST

Was curious on how long the OP phones last. Currently still using OP5 3.3 years later. The battery capacity is around 79, but it still works well and the battery still lasts nearly a whole day.

Was wondering when or if I should worry about replacing it. So you you still use an old OP phone? Did it ever break down or die?

Is Carl Pei going to start a new phone company?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 04:19 PM PST

That guy seemed like he was pretty interested in creating the nord line. Which became one of their most selling product. Bu he just abruptly left. One Plus didn't announce anything officially. I can't find any news article on exact reason why he left. In marketing materials, ads, and in the nord documentary he seemed like a interesting fellow. follows the Steve jobs foot steps. Do you think he is gonna make a new phone company?

Possible OP 8 user about actual security

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 02:35 PM PST

    Hey redditors,

Read a lot through Reddit about the OP phones and became more and more concerned about the security, most stuff was pretty old so I might ask for actual experience. it's still an android so it's just about basic security

i'm Torn between between the 8 pro and the S20 FE, Feature wie they are pretty similar. But i read some really concerning stuff about the OP phoning home, if I really reinstall the manager via ADB, is there no data send back home? Not concerned bc of privacy more eventual data theft.

    Thanks a lot

    OP8 antenna issues

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 10:45 AM PST

Anyone else experience antenna issues when going from wifi to cell towers? I have to restart my phone to pickup connectivity.

Also randomly happens when streaming bluetooth to my car and switching cell towers. Nothing has helped.

    Any thoughts?

    OnePlus 6T Verizon problem...

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 02:17 PM PST

I recently bought a OnePlus 6T off of Amazon which claimed it was Verizon compatible. When I got the phone, I put in my SIM card from my previous phone and I was getting a "no service" message. I call support and they activate the phone, do everything they can, still nothing. I went to the Verizon store and got a brand new SIM card, still doesn't work. The phone shows my phone number and that it's on Verizon in the settings, it just won't connect to data at all. Is there anything else I can do or is this phone no good?

    Carrier Preferences? Changes?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 02:08 PM PST

Not specifically OP related, but I've got a 7T, and am considering a carrier change.

I've been a loyal VZW customer for nearly 15 years. Prior to VZW, I was a T-Mobile guy (all the way back to when they were VoiceStream) with about a 2-year Nextel interlude. Never had much of a problem. It just worked.

Bought my 7T almost three weeks ago, have spent nearly 12 hours on the phone with them, multiple levels of Tech Support and Help Desk, trying to talk them thru the provisioning change to get my text messaging straight.

They still haven't. And every call starts with me explaining everything again and telling them to read the (now extensive) notes on the account.

    I'm pretty much done.

    Considering going back to TMO.

    Thoughts?

OnePlus watch release date and thoughts???

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 02:04 PM PST

OnePlus watch is supposedly delayed for some reason. It is said that it could launch along side the OP 9 in March time. That is annoying as I need a new watch quite soon and thought it would come out soon. Anyone know anything???

Does OnePlus have an app to save your data and settings?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 01:33 PM PST

Something to save the data on the phone so I could set it back to factory settings and not lose anything.
