Laptop is running but screen's black

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 03:57 AM PST

Hi. My laptop's screen just turned black but it is running. It has this light which is a sign that it is turned on or running. Last activity was to stop the Windows Update Service from running because updates are on loop and keeps on restarting my laptop. I dont have a choice but to disable it from the services so I wont be disturbed from my work and do not lose any data. But, it did not work this time and it restarted my pc. When I tried to disable it again, I was not able to because Windows Update Services is not working. I cant click anything from its Properties. Then that is when my laptop went to black screen, tried hard reset and it worked. It happened for two times. After that, it restarted again and hard reset didnt work its magic. Running but had a black screen. I tried to connect it to external monitor to check if the problem is with its LCD monitor, but it isnt.

I am posting this to seek solution, if this is just a simple problem that can be done by a non tech person. Or if this is a complicated, what can I do? What is/are the problem? Your help will be a great help. Thank you.

HP Envy x360 Convertible Laptop, touch screen not working.

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 08:06 AM PST

I got the laptop about a month ago and it's working great. Except today, the touchscreen was not working at all. I tried searching it up online to see if anyone had similar problems and it said to go "View pen and touch settings" and if it says "No pen or touch input is available for this display" then the laptop doesn't have touch screen. But it was working just fine for the past month and it is a touch screen laptop, so why isn't it working? Any ideas how to fix it? Thanks

I posted a few weeks ago about unwanted ads, and I ended up doing a factory reset, but now I occasionally get this. Is it malware or a hardware problem?

Seeing Folder (Desktop) With 70GBs of Files That Don't Exist

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 02:10 AM PST

I've done the usual, I've checked for hidden files, cleaned up recycling, etc. I'm still sat with loads of space being used on my desktop while there's nothing there. How can I go about resolving this? I was going to use CCleaner to try to clean that folder but not sure how to go about it.

    Problems after failed installation

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 12:31 AM PDT

I posted this in another sub but I really want to find a solution:

I have this old computer with a GA-78LMT-S2PT (rev 4.1) motherboard and had Lubuntu installed and it was working fine yesterday, and updated some stuff, today it froze every time I turned it on before even getting to ask for my password, So I made it worse trying to fix it. I had a copy of Linux-Lite so decided to give it a try since the Lubuntu was not responding, got to the part where you choose language and location and it froze. Tried again and went for the option to install it directly. It began and froze again, left it there for like an hour and nothing changed. Decided to force shut it down, I did and turn it on again, it did turn on and showed the normal screen with the boot options then followed by the normal white text for like 1 or 2 seconds before the screen goes black and the machine restart.

From what I've gathered looking for a solution I suspect I corrupted the BIOS? What Do you think? and more importantly What can I do? I can only access the CMOS screen but dont know enough how to use it or if it can help me, I tried to boot different distros from usb even one that doesnt need install but it behaves the same, just restarts in the same point.

Please help me, I need to continue my work.
