I need some help here guys... issues with the keyboard. Posted: 30 Sep 2020 04:58 PM PDT So I accidentally turned on Sticky Keys. The keyboard was suddenly super unresponsive and slow, but I think I fixed that. For some reason, now it makes this little beeping sound every time I press a key. When I restarted my computer, it still wasn't fixed. Can someone please tell me how I can turn this off? It's kind of irksome. [link] [comments]
My PC is rebooting infinitely after rebooting during an update. Posted: 30 Sep 2020 02:11 PM PDT I just rebooted my PC to finish installing a program, windows decided to start installing an update (it didn't say update and restart), so i clicked the physical restart button on my computer, now it's booting up, after the windows 10 splash screen it says "cancelling update changes" or something along those lines for half a second, then screen turns black and starts booting up again, have been looping for 15 minutes. Tried to go into safe mode, doesn't respond to f2 f8 and del, tried cutting the power altogether and start the computer, no progress, i have no access to my PC, someone please help! Forza Horizon 3 Nvidia Gamestream Posted: 30 Sep 2020 09:05 PM PDT Nvidia Experience detects Forza Horizon 3 thus I can optimize game settings but to enable game stream I go into settings and from the list of games Forza doesn't show there so I wanna manually enter the game. When I try to do that, it doesn't let me add because I don't have permission to open Forza. Windows 10 gets on my nerves sometimes. Any help appreciated :( [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Sep 2020 12:23 PM PDT I'm currently 16 and for many years, I've been trying to find a game that I remember used to play on Windows Xp. I'm trying to look for the game name or anything related to it, but I only remember a few details but some may be key. I remember the game was almost like a sim game with an overhead view of sort. I also faintly remember that the every character in the game was short and one solid color and a speaker as the head, I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure it was a circular speaker. With the characters I also faintly remember there was one AI or something that when it went up to you, it would steal your coins if you didn't press a key many times. This character was purple or black. One of the last details I remember are these shops lined up that looked spherical that were colored differently. These shops were used to buy items for maybe a house or character customizations. These details may be wrong but I'm trying to find this out what this game was for nostalgic purposes. Away from the game, I remember 3 to 5 years ago, I was at the store ross and I saw the characters from the game and it came in a pair of two. Looking back, they may have been speakers since the characters were based off of speakers as heads. Please, I'm not asking for this immediately, but any details would help. [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Sep 2020 03:53 PM PDT I built a PC last year and I installed Windows 10 off of a USB my friend let me borrow. From the beginning, my Windows Store hasn't worked properly. Anything that was downloading would get stuck on "downloading" or "pending". I've tried just about everything I've seen on the internet in an attempt to fix it. I've reset the Windows Store using Command Prompt, I've used troubleshooters; none of it seems to work. I'm no computer expert but I'm pretty sure that my Windows is corrupt in some way. So, my question is: Will reinstalling Windows 10 fix the problem? Will it create any problems if I use a different USB that has Windows on it to reinstall? If you guys need any additional information to help me, I'll provide it. Thanks! [link] [comments]

Viewing DHCP Leases from non-connected networks in Windows Posted: 30 Sep 2020 02:05 PM PDT Hey guys, I'm wondering if there's a way to view DHCP leases from networks that aren't currently connected on Windows. I'm working on getting an employee's computer connected via VPN, but want to make sure their home network doesn't have the same addressing as our work one does. Thanks in advance! Can't find some Microsoft Office programs in Start Menu Posted: 30 Sep 2020 01:26 PM PDT Hi all, I recently noticed that I cannot individually find Word or Excel (my most used office programs) in the Start Menu or when I search for them. Pretty much all other Microsoft office programs are listed and searchable, just not Word or Excel. I tried reinstalling Microsoft Office, but that did not work. I can only open up Word or Excel if I open a document first. If anybody has any suggestions for solving this issue, please let me know! [link] [comments]

is it possible to make my brightness reset on its own? Posted: 30 Sep 2020 08:44 AM PDT For a while now I have wanted to find a way of making windows reset to a lower brightness automatically on start up. It's an odd ask I know, but it would be useful to save battery as I can often forget I am on full brightness and drain my battery without the need for high brightness. [link] [comments]
DISM 0x800f081f; source files could not be found Posted: 30 Sep 2020 07:41 AM PDT Hi all, I've been having issues with getting DISM to successfully run the following:
When I do, it gives me a 0x800f081f; source files could not be found. Part of my problem is that I'm on image version 10.0.19041.508 (Windows 10 Pro for Workstations), this particular build of course isn't available as an installation media/ISO from the Microsoft website. To my (admittedly quite limited) knowledge of DISM, the build number and language need to match, thus that's a problem for using /Source. With that said, I found advice elsewhere on the internet that recommended using https://quickfever.com/windows-10-iso-download/ to build my own ISO from the UUP (Unified Update Platform). I ran that, script completed successfully, ISO file generated, attempted to mount that using this:
So the ISO generated for my build didn't work. Keeping in mind that DISM is apparently case sensitive, so made sure that the path was a match. No luck with that either; still can't find the sources files in the source specified. I used :6 as I ran this:
And 6 was down as being Windows 10 Pro for Workstations. I've tried upgrading to an Insider build via an ISO (can't join it via Settings as I get a "Something went wrong; We aren't able to talk to our service right now. Please try again later." error) and that fails to install and after it restarts mid-install, Windows undoes the changes made to the computer and I end up back on the current 19041.508 build. I've tried the usual 'Startup repair', safe mode etc. No luck there either. Whilst I have backups, all of the ones I've tried to recover from all seem to have this problem. Unfortunately, reinstallation isn't really an option as there's so many programs that would need to be reinstalled with lengthy installation times. I posted the issue over on https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-update/dism-0x800f081f-source-files-could-not-be-found/a17fe957-4a78-4421-9857-297479372ab8 too. If anybody has any further ideas, I'd be very happy to hear about them. [link] [comments]
How to change a weird windows shortcut Posted: 30 Sep 2020 11:00 AM PDT There's a key combo, left shift + ctrl + alt + win, that brings up MS Office. Drives me nuts because I do it several times a day (when using 'save for web' in photoshop). I thought uninstalling office would do the trick but now it brings up office.com instead. Does anyone know how to disable this shortcut? Or edit win key shortcuts in Windows 10 in general? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Sep 2020 10:17 AM PDT [ Crossposted from ASUS subreddit ] "Okay, so I hope I can describe what I'm dealing with properly- So, for the past couple of days I haven't been able to hear audio from my laptop's speakers or my headset. My laptop is an ASUS ROG Strix G15 15.6" Gaming Laptop (Intel Core i5-10300H/512GB SSD/8GB RAM/GeForce GTX 1650 Ti). My problems with audio only happened after I had set up my Armoury Crate, but I'm pretty sure it isn't because of that since it didn't happen immediately after setup and I've tried uninstalling it and the audio still doesn't work. The issue is no sound comes out of the speakers or headset, even though the tab says it's playing audio- sound tests also fail. However, when I use my Bluetooth connected headset it does play audio. I know my headset isn't broken because it works on my phone, and I know my speakers aren't broken because they play the audio sting that plays at startup with the ROG icon. I haven't dropped or spilled anything on my laptop either to damage the headphone jack or speakers. I tried troubleshooting, and when I did it said that there were no issues it could find, except that one of the windows audio or windows audio endpoint builder isn't working. I checked the services tab, and they're both running and listed as an automatic startup. I also tried uninstalling my speakers and headset, and their drivers, and having windows reinstall during set up, which didn't change anything either. I've also tried restarting the services multiple times but it doesn't do anything. I had this happen a few days ago, and I don't know what I specifically did to fix it, but I think it had something to do with restarting the services or the laptop. But it only worked for a day or two before stopping again. So I really have no idea what the issue could be. I would really prefer not to reset my laptop since I have so many games downloaded, but I might have to if I can't fix this. That would be a last resort though, so please lmk if you have any clue what could be wrong. edit: I also don't have it muted and the volume is up. " Decided to crosspost this here because I use Windows 10 and I'm pretty sure it's related to a software issue rather than hardware. Tysm in advance for any help or advice! [link] [comments]
Streaming from Windows 10 PC onto the same network Posted: 30 Sep 2020 09:58 AM PDT Hey everyone, I've got a bit of an issue that I was wondering someone could help me with. I've hooked a 5TB external HDD to my win 10 pc via USB 3.1 port; (Ryzen 5 3600, RX 5600XT, G.SKILL Ripjaws V 16 GB DDR4, MSI AC905C Wireless Dual Band PCI-E Adapter Card w/ 802.11ac, MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX) and shard it across the network to a maximum of 3 people. I stream from that HDD to my phone using VLC for android. However I keep running into an issue where I try to watch a 1080p dual audio 5.1 AAC video (anime), which is in .mkv format, but the video+audio will freeze after playing for 1-2min and not continue again unless I reopen that file. Can any kind soul please help me out here, what are some work-arounds/solutions? [link] [comments] |
