Just got a OnePlus Nord and I gotta say I don't understand why everyone is so mad here?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 12:54 AM PDT

I fucking love this phone. Everything about it. The software experience is so clean and well optimised for the user. It's the little things like 'Oh hey, you wanna customise your phone? Here you can implement custom icon packs right into the system.' Also the default OnePlus font is sleek as fuck. This phone's been an absolute joy since I got it on Saturday and I think if all OnePlus experiences are like this I'll probably buy the 9 or whatever when it drops next year. This is a brilliant phone and the quality is definitely clear coming from my terrible Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium, a phone that cost twice as much 2 years ago!

    OnePlus 7 pro aesthetics

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 10:11 AM PDT

For the past 2-3 days, I've consistently been using my OnePlus 7 pro with no case. Cause I've been around the house and prefer the way it feels in the hand. I've been admiring the beauty of this phone, as well as the feel in the hand. Who else things the 7 pro is a very pretty phone?

OnePlus 5 called police while I'm sleeping?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 12:25 PM PDT

*False alarm, read the last edit at bottom.

This happened like half an hour ago and wtf. I was sleeping when I noticed my phone was vibrating and I just so happened to wake to it. It was a call from some random number and normally I wouldn't pick up due to spam callers and how they can spoof area codes/number, but today I was expecting a call for an internship position so I did pick up.

Me: "....(silent pause to see if it was robocaller, no reply so I muster up the best I've been awake voice in case it's internship) ahem, hello?"

911: Hi, you called 911 earlier, we were just calling back to make sure you were okay?

    Me: I....didn't call 911?

911: Okay you definitely did but that's okay maybe you made a mistake.

At this point I apologize multiple times and we end the call, and I'm confused. When my phone rang somehow my screen was on the emergency contact screen where it had three buttons, call 911, flash sos lights, and something else so she must have been telling the truth bu I'm just completely baffled how I got there. From my experimenting, to get there from the lockscreen requires you to get to the unlock pattern screen, click Emergency, which brings you to the emergency dialer, then double tap Emergency Information at top, AND THEN click the call 911 option. This is impossible to have happened even if I turned over in my sleep and my hand slapped the screen.

My call logs actually show my last call was to my mom from the night before. There were no records of outbound calls to 911.

My phone charges on my bed on the other pillow and I honestly don't know how this is possible. After a Google search of "oneplus automatically call police" I find multiple threads on how mashing the power button 5 times calls emergency services and how other people have accidentally called because of it. Now....I'm still not aware of doing this. As far as I was concerned, I was asleep. But I did set alarms to wake me up that I fully slept through. I'm thinking maybe I mashed the power button 5 times to snooze the alarm, but I have no memories of doing so and no call logs of a call being made.

Anyways, given the mysterious nature of the call and me not knowing how it happened, the first thing I did upon discovering this feature was turning it off. I'm just super confused atm

Edit: I'm so paranoid, I can't help but check my phone every second to make sure it's not randomly calling the police

Edit: False alarm, it's a scam where they pretend to be police saying you called them and call to see if you're at home or not, then query you for more information in the guise of safety for more information like "are you home alone, how many people, and etc". I just coincidentally had my phone somehow open to the emergency contact page so it made me believe it. I'll leave this post up though to spread awareness.

My OnePlus 8 Pro Screen is Perfect

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 10:03 AM PDT

Because nobody comes here to talk about how their phones are working just fine...

I just bought a OnePlus 8 Pro, and the screen is perfect.

    • No green tint at low brightness
    • No black crush (And I know what black crush is coming from my last pixel... It was very bad at night)
    • And, so far, no burn in.

Just thought I'd let people know my anecdotal experience in case you're worried about buying an 8 Pro, like I was.

    Oxygen 11 DP4 - OP8 and Gesture question?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 04:58 PM PDT

Could someone with today's version check something for me please? Here is the test scenario... set navigation to gesture mode, then open the Messenger app, then start a new text or open an existing conversation, then touch the data entry line at the bottom so the keyboard pops up.

In DP3, the data entry line did not properly appear above the keyboard, only half showed. If the device is in 3 button mode, it shows correctly. I would like to know if the data entry now shows properly in DP4 while in gesture mode.

OnePlus Buds v Mpow X3, anyone have experience with either?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 07:00 PM PDT

Anyone have experience with the new OP Buds? I got the Mpow X3 with ANC, good sound, battery life, good Bluetooth with my OP 7T.

The Mpow X3 use silicone tips. Fit is good, not great, so thought about OnePlus Buds, but see that it does not use tips.

    Thought about trying OP Buds.

The Mpow, with ANC is $50 at Amazon, OP $80.

    Any information would be appreciated.

    Newbie coming from iPhone Xs

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 01:14 PM PDT

Overall experience with the OnePlus 8 is positive so far (coming from an iPhone Xs), i just have two questions:

    • How can I hide push notification content per app? Not hide the actual push notification, but obscure its content.
    • Can I resize icons larger than the larger setting on Oxygen OS? Even that seems small on the homescreen.

    OnePlus 8T Series likely?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 06:19 AM PDT

Just received OnePlus 8 Pro. But came across rumours indicating a T version coming autumn this year aligned with prior years.

Searched this forum. Many indicated a second release unlikely given OnePlus focus on budget line.

That said few articles on the rumour mill indicating an imminent release. https://www.tomsguide.com/news/oneplus-8t

I'm still within my return window so preference would be to get the latest iteration.

    Any bets?

Does Warp Charging Only Work with the Original Cable? (OP 7t)

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 05:34 PM PDT

I just bought a Oneplus 7t, great phone so far.

I have an Amazonbasics usb c cable, which is twice as long as my original OnePlus cable. I plug it into my original Oneplus charging adapter, but it doesn't warp charge.

Does Warp Charging only working with the original cable? Is there any other cable that allows for warp charging? The original Oneplus usb c cable is too short.

Oneplus' Slogan is never settle but that's always what you're doing when you buy a OnePlus phone. Don't buy a OP8 or OP8 Pro if you ever use Google pay

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 04:59 PM PDT

I've recently upgraded from a 3T to a OP8. The 3T was great, it was fast, had a big screen and did everything I needed it to. It had one major problem however - a camera that quickly stopped focusing, this was an issue for so many OP3 and OP3T users that OP started repairing them for free.

Now I've upgraded to a OP8 I'm in a similar situation. It's a great phone on nearly all accounts - 90hz, flagship processor, decent cameras. But once again it has a major problem, Google pay doesn't work. This is also clearly a widespread problem because I've seen at least 5 different forums of people having the exact same problem around the UK. Here is the biggest of the bunch: https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/nfc-problem.1224052/page-3

I really want to like OnePlus but it's stuff like this left unaddressed that's making me want to switch. Has anyone in the UK managed to use Google pay without issues on their OP8?

    Thanks

Please help, trying to root my oneplus 7pro, worried all is lost.

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 09:24 AM PDT

    Long story short:

    phone: Oneplus 7pro 5g sprint

oem option in dev options is greyed out and the user(me) can't switch it on, after a small goose chase I found this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/help/how-to-convert-tmobile-op7-to-t3935947

Basically says that you need to convert your sprint/tmobile version of the phone into an international version in order to get that oem option to open up so you can later root it.

    I've followed all the steps

    MSM worked, went green

Issue is: My phone is now currently stuck on that boot mode page where it gives you the option to "start" "restart bootloader" "recovery mode" "power off"
When I hit the power button on "start" i see the android logo but then nothing happens and it goes right back to the boot mode screen, doesn't load the os.

    And advice? thank you guys.

Any suggestions on where to get a cracked screen repaired for my oneplus 7T? Oneplus' repair service is quoting me $200 which seems pretty pricey

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 10:49 AM PDT

    Hi All,

I'm an idiot and accidentally put a lot of pressure on my screen which cracked it. Touches are still registered, the fingerprint reader still works fine, and all of the pixels/colors still work. It is purely cosmetic. I'm still under warranty; however, this is physical damage and is not covered.

I haven't found any repair services that will just replace glass without replacing the entire screen component which makes it a very expensive repair.

Does anyone have any advice for this?

For reference, I'm located in the US

Worst costumer service and tempered glass ever

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 04:13 PM PDT

    Nobody answers the phone.

1.- When they do, they hung up on one out of the blue, this happened twice on different days.

2.- Then they say they'll do one thing (send a replacement for a tempered glass whose glue peeled off with the sticker) but they don't, they never really send the replacement or place the order

3.- And lastly when they do it's someone that takes 20 minutes of your time at least and whose English isn't understandable at all

Point 1 is the more alarming

I'm switching to apple or Samsung next phone I buy

Is this normal? What's app draining more battery than screen itself, without much usage.

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 12:06 PM PDT

The screen since my last charge consumed 17% but what's app which have 1hr of foreground usage drained 22%. The background usage was active for 3hrs idk why. Should I change the battery optimization from intelligent control to optimise?

What's your phone's average overnight battery usage?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 09:52 AM PDT

My phone averages about 20% loss overnight which is a substantial increase from when I initially got my OnePlus 6T about 2 years back and so I was wondering what the general loss of battery during long hours of no usage is for the community.

    OnePlus 8 or 7T pro?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 03:20 PM PDT

I'm in a huge dilemma rn. OP8 costs 670€ in my country Lithuania while 7t pro costs 610€. Is it worth spending extra 60€ on 8 with 8 having some downgrades like no telephoto lens, lower res display with punch hole, two times lower storage (256GB OP8 would be at least 720€)?

But the 8 wins in 5G (won't be usable anytime soon but nice for futureproofing), newer and more powerful chip (but that's just a bonus for futureproofing as 855+ on 7T pro is still plenty capable, just 865 will maybe age better in 2-3 years), longer software support, a bit better camera quality due to improved ISP on SD865 (from what I've heard), longer battery life, a bit faster charging.

If you were in my shoes, what would've you picked?

    I'll appreciate all answers!

Is there a way to create a new fingerprint animation?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 02:19 PM PDT

I use a OnePlus 7 Pro (rooted, RenovateICE 13.0) and I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to make a custom unlock animation, I'm using the McLaren one right now but I wanted to make a custom one based on Aperture Science from Portal.
