How to connect a Xiaomi smartphone with USB-C 2.0 to TV/Monitor over HDMI?

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 01:56 PM PDT

I have a Redmi Note 8T phone. What's the cheapest solution that will help to connect it to a monitor by using HDMI port? Can you list a couple popular Miracast dongles (preferable without significant lag issues) ?

Samsung user FINALLY shifted to Xiaomi for the FIRST TIME: MY THOUGHTS

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 12:27 AM PDT

    BRIEF HISTORY:
I have been using the A series of Samsung starting from Galaxy A10 to the A30, but the one thing that bugged me about Samsung phones especially the A series, was that they weren't giving enough value to their customers. I'm not a big camera guy, so I don't take any selfies. The main priority for me was having a big battery and a performance that didn't lag while i switched between 2-3 apps (Mainly Tidal for music streaming, Whatsapp and Instagram).

The Galaxy A10s on regular use gave me a battery timing of 4-5 hours till I had to plug it back in the charger. After a few weeks of searching, I found some very interesting Xiaomi's phones, the prices with the features they were providing were giving Samsung phones a run for their money. But I was still hesitant as my uncle bought the Xiaomi Mi A3, which tbh, in that price range was an overpriced phone which gave my initial impression that All phones must be like that. But boy oh boy was I wrong.

    The Phone Itself:

I bought the Xiaomi Redmi 8A for less than $98. 2 gb 32 gb variant with a 5,000mAh battery with a support for 18W Fast charging. The only gripe I had was the fast charger isn't included in the box. Powered by Snapdragon 439 chipset, which imo is SOOO much better than the Mediatek A22 shit chipset. After buying the phone I did two things to improve the overall quality:

    • Since I'm living in Pakistan, I chose the region to be United Kingdom as Xiaomi's phones start throwing ads in the device if you choose your region to be India, Pakistan, Bangladesh or any country in this region to earn extra bit of money. But if your'e living in Europe you're fine.
    • I uninstalled all the bloatware that came with the phone with Xiaomi's Fast ADB Tool. The whole process took less than 2 minutes.

But, after all of this, I can safely say this is the BEST phone I have gotten so far. The battery backup is insane. If I use the phone at 9 am, use it heavily all day either on wifi or 4g, doesn't matter, the battery will still be at 45-50% at 3:45 am. A whopping 16 hours+ on continuous usage.

When you remove the bloatware, it frees up alot of RAM and your phone feels like it's a 4GB Ram variant and not 2GB. Im not a fan of gaming like PUBG, never played it. So don't know how the phone will perform on gaming.

P.S, I've never been able to completely drain the battery of this device. It's a MONSTER.

    My final verdict:

If you want a KILLER device for your day to day use, you're a battery conscious person like me, want to gift it to your parents, or need to give a gift to somebody that won't break your bank, then this DEVICE is a BEAST. I HIGHLY recommend you invest in Xiaomi and you won't be feeling sorry. I do recommend getting the Xiaomi Redmi Note series if you can as those devices are the midrange killers. But if you want to stay on a budget level, then this device kills all other devices.

    Peace my Xiaomi family :)

MIUI 12 on Redmi Note 9 Pro

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 05:47 PM PDT

Do you guys have any idea if when is the release data for the Note 9 Pro Global Version? It's kinda disappointing that this phone is just released a couple of months ago and not being prioritized for the update.

Autofocus problem on Mi 9T pro, aka K20 pro

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 11:55 AM PDT

Hello everyone. Just recently I came up with the problem. It seems like primary camera autofocus mechanicly doesn't work. Is there a way to fix that? Does anyone have the same probelm? Not forget to mention I can take clear photos using ultrawide mode or portrait mode. Not forget to mention filming has the same problems. Thank you for responses.

    Auto rotation stops working randomly

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 10:35 PM PDT

On my redmi 7 the auto rotation stops working randomly, which can be fixed only by rebooting the device. I used sensor test app to check the accelerometer. In that app the accelerometer stops giving sensor data from about 5-6 mins after rebooting. How to fix this?

How to remove Open GApps and switch from LineageOS to Stock MIUI?

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 09:53 PM PDT

Hello, I have a global Pocophone F1. I unlocked the bootloader and flashed LineageOS and Open GApps. I want to go back to MIUI. Do I just use the Mi Flash tool and flash the ROM; will that also remove Open GApps and only having the Google Apps provided by MIUI?

Redmi Note 8 hard brick? Fastboot will shut down itself after half a second

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 09:51 PM PDT

    Hi,

I tried to flash crDroid into my new Redmi Note 8 but flashing failed midway and it wouldn't boot.

Fastboot still worked so I tried to flash stock MIUI using MiFlash but now not even Fastboot works: the phone shuts itself down after half a second, even in fastboot. It shows the fastboot logo it shuts down anyway. Needless to say, that's not enough for the computer to recognize the phone.

Am I doomed? I never heard of Fastboot doing this.

    Need help Mi8 Pro

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 09:36 PM PDT

Hello, so I purchased a Mi8 pro secondhand and it's great. I had a mi5s that I bought in China long time ago, and it was easy to get support. Now I have this phone and I'm having difficulty trying to install MIUI Global (I live in Australia).

The problem I'm encountering is besides charging, the phone does not connect to my computer to unlock it. When I connect my phone to the computer, all it does is charge. I do not even get the option of file transfer, transfer photos (ptp) or anything like that. My computer also does not even detect the phone.

    Things I have tried

    • unlocked the developer option and enabled OEM unlocking, USB Debugging, and fiddled with default usb configuration within developer option
    • installed MI PC suite on the computer
    • installed MI unlock

I'm not very computer literate and actually I've been without a phone for a long time, henceforth buying a second hand phone. So if anyone can help that would be great, I have googled and searched, but it seems no one has a problem similar to mine, except a few people that enabled USB debugging which I have already tried anyways.

Advice for a Xiaomi in Canada !

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 09:15 PM PDT

    Hi everyone!

My GF is looking for a new phone and asked me my advice on that. As the main things she'll be doing are browsing twitter, internet, sending messages, using a few apps, almost no games, and taking a lot of pictures (that's one of her main priorities), I narrowed the search down to the Redmi Note 9.

She used to have a Mi A2 that she loved, but it took a leap of faith down the toilet and died :(

Do you think the Redmi note 9 is a good phone for what she'll be doing ? She doesn't want to put too much money on it and this one is on her budget.

Our carrier is Fizz, my Oneplus 5T is handling the network well, and her Mi A2 did too, but what about the Note 9 ? It seems to have all the right bandwidth to connect well all over Canada but is there different model types/numbers I should look for as we often see with the chinese phones that are sold all over the world ?

And last thing, let's say she would like to get it before the end of next week. What would be the best site to order it from ? I've heard mixed review about EGlobal, is it good ? (If there is no fast option I'll take it from AliExpress)

    Thanks everyone! :)

    Redmi 7 boot problem.

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 07:33 PM PDT

    Hello,

I've fallen asleep a couple of hours ago and when I woke up I found my phone in a state I haven't seen before. I am not good with phones by the way. I had 3 options to pick from.

    Reboot

    Wipe all data

    Connect with MIAssistant

I first chose to Reboot, then to Wipe all my data which is kinda bad because I had much pictures with friends and family. Then I tried to Connect with MIAssistant and I downloaded the app on my computer and still I couldn't do anything because when I connect my device to USB from phone to PC, it doesn't detect it. Could somebody help me?

Mi 9 isn't caching apps properly, resets after leaving them

    Posted: 30 Jul 2020 07:17 PM PDT

Hey guys, I have my Mi 9 on MIUI 12.0.1 and within the last few days it's been acting up. All my apps are re-asking for permissions and if I switch apps for a little bit and go back to one, it reloads it entirely rather than leaving where I left off (best example is reddit will refresh to the top of the feed).

Only thing I've changed recently is adding the live background (the earth one), otherwise it's just the most recent update where the shade was adjusted, but the issues only started this week. Any ideas?
