Why does Samsung put ridiculous amounts of RAM on budget phones but not enough on budget tablets? Posted: 30 Jul 2020 01:22 AM PDT Recently Samsung released the M31s phone in India which is supposed to be a budget phone that the average Indian can afford. The base variant has 6GB of RAM (way more than the average person needs) and priced at $300 which is well above the budget of most Indians. Their only budget tablet offering in India is the 2GB (way too low) variant of Tab A 2019 with a weak Exynos 7904 chip. [link] [comments] |
Incomplete Text Transfer from LG6 to LG8 Problem Posted: 30 Jul 2020 10:17 PM PDT So I replaced my LG G6 phone this week becuse a pics of the fragile dim tray broke off and got stuck inside the phone making the sim and sd cards unable to be read. That's not the main problem. The issue came when I used LG Mobile Switch to move everything to my new LG G8 phone it seemed that everything but the text messeges transferred properly. Most are there, but for a couple threads over a year of texts didn't make it over (that I can still see on the LGG6), and oddly for one thread it is the opposite and has all the texts on the new phone but missing some on the old one. I've tried the app multiple times both wirelessly and with a usbc to usbc cable, Bluetooth, transfering just the texts with the LG app instead of everything, and even other apps. Sms Backup and Restore, Synchronoss Mobile Content Transfer, and Switch (all free versions) and none of theme worked. The first two claimed error through loss of connection. Which I am not sure how to improve when the LGG6 is stuck with Wi-Fi only. I'm not sure what step I am missing for the texts not to have all showed up correctly through the SD card either. Thanks for reading and advice you can give. Sorry if long. [link] [comments] |
How to "force?" install SM-T530NU stock ROM to an SM-T530? Posted: 30 Jul 2020 06:28 PM PDT Okay, before I should start this little i should be very sorry for Android developers, I'm sorry guys but I think I'm going to ask a question that is stupid in all existing universes going to make you just want to shoot me in the face. But still maybe I'll gain some knowledge from you
Okay, before starting to play with my device I flashed TWRP-3.0.0.0 and backed up all partitions and pit file.
Okay here's my death sentence:: I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 SM-T530 matissewifi, which doesn't have a USB tether option whereas the SM-T530NU does have that option, tablets are very similiar even a custom ROM works for both of them, installing a custom ROM based on Android 9.0 or 8.0 allows me to enable USB and it works fine, but sometimes custom ROMs have their downsides).
So I tried few things, 1st: Downloaded the SM-T530NU stock ROM .md5.tar and tried to flash it to my SM-T530 via Odin3 which will give an aboot.mbn error thing ( I know most of you will be like WTF you can't flash a ROM into a different model, but still I'm up for the risk just to see the button enable USB tether without using an app)
So 2nd try is: Converting system.img.ext4 (of the SM-T530NU) to system.ext4.tar/win and try flashing both boot.img and system.ext4.win with twrp, flashing only boot.img "voids" kernel bit but still boots to the SM-T530 system, but when flashing system.ext4.win it's just stuck at Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 screen.
3rd try: Extracted cusrom rom and replaced boot.img and system.new.dat.br with boot.img and system.img.ext4 (which i suppose should've been converted to system.new.dat.br first?) , modified what had to be modified in "META-INF/com/google/update-script" ... then flashed the .zip with TWRP which at the end of flashing gives "/system mount error" so i just ignored and rebooted but still i get stuck on Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 screen.
4th try: Replaced system/priv-app/SystemUI of SM-T530 with the one of the SM-T530NU to see if i see the enable tether option in the UI and will figure out a way to enable tethering maybe with magisk X tether module, but still I get stuck at a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 screen
Okay so, I was thinking (maybe?) In some way "trick" the secure boot into flashing the whole SM-T530NU stock ROM with the modem,boot,system,efs... without the aboot.mbn. So is there any possible way to make it work? I don't mind even hard bricking my device. [link] [comments] |

Can't move files to sD card which is formatted as internal storage Posted: 30 Jul 2020 05:22 PM PDT Hey, so I hope I'm getting this right, because this whole SD card thing seems pretty complicated on Android. I have a Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite running Android 10 with an internal storage of 64 GB. I bought a 32 GB SD card for additional storage, and formatted it as "internal storage". I just want to use it to have a little more space for music, photos and so on, without having to worry about manually moving files. For this, internal storage is the right option? Yet, I get a warning message now that 99% of my phone storage is used up, but the SD card is still empty. Shouldn't Android automatically move files to the SD card? I tried the "migrate files" option on the SD card category in the settings, which, as Android tells me, would fee up 35 GB of phone storage space. But I get an error message saying "not eough space". I don't understand if I'm doing something wrong or how to fix this. Any advice is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Samsung Galaxy A50: clear notifications after unlock Posted: 30 Jul 2020 09:01 PM PDT In November i finally made the switch from apple, i love everything about my phone but there is one major issue that annoys me, the fact i have to manually clear notifications, is there a way on how i can make it more like Apples' notifications where they become hidden from the lock screen when you unlock the phone, yet not open them [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jul 2020 05:10 PM PDT Is there a way to enter split screen mode on Android 10 without having to first minimize the window? In Android Pie you could just hold the square button and it wouldn't kill YouTube if you wanted to send a text whole keeping a song playing , for example. [link] [comments] |
Unwanted apps appeared after reboot! Posted: 30 Jul 2020 08:38 PM PDT So I have had my moto e5 shut off for a few days during a vacation, and when I tuned it back on I was bombarded with 10 apps I have never even wanted or looked at. All the sudden they are installed on the internal memory! What the heck is going on? Have I been hacked? I have used this phone for 1 1/2 years and this has never happened. I have downloaded apps from APK mirror, maybe some malware slipped through. But that site is supposed to be super safe, and these apps don't look malicious to me (besides being run by shady companies to begin with). They are all verified with play protect. Does anyone know what happened? [link] [comments] |
LG G7 ThinQ Question, please help! Posted: 30 Jul 2020 08:26 PM PDT Hi all, I am hoping someone can help. I am not receiving calls/texts from one certain contact, but they are receiving mine. The contact is not blocked in my phone, nor I in their's. This contact is able to call/text the other 2 people on my plan. I am on Verizon using and using an LG G7 ThinQ. Any ideas? Why Android doesn't include a option for fast switching 4G to 3G etc? Posted: 30 Jul 2020 08:00 PM PDT Here in my house 4G signal is weak while 3G is strong. Is tiresome to go to settings app every time. Is there an app which act like a shortcut to change this setting? Nova Launcher can do this, but I prefer the stock launcher. thanks! [link] [comments] |
Strange Google Assistant bug I can't seem to find any information on Posted: 30 Jul 2020 07:34 PM PDT Just got a OnePlus 7 Pro running OxygenOS 10, and I was glad to finally be able to use Google Assistant in the same way iPhone users use Siri - as opposed to the horrible clunky way it used to work on my previous phone. Except it turns out I can't do that because of this weird bug. Basically, when I dismiss the assistant, then shortly afterwards say "hey google" again - it comes up with "Can't connect to Google at the moment" and I have to tap the microphone button to get it to work. But if I wait some unspecified time period to use "hey google" again, it works fine. Has anyone else experienced this? I have no idea what's causing it and I've tried restarting the app, disabling and reenabling, rebooting the phone, etc. It's already at the latest version. Thanks [link] [comments] |

iPhone user looking to switch to Android. Need help please Posted: 30 Jul 2020 07:43 AM PDT Hi Android community. Like it says in the title, I've been on iOS for a long time and am really considering switching to android. Everything I've heard about Android has always been positive and I feel like now would be a great time to give it a shot. I honestly have never used the OS so it will obviously be a completely new experience for me. I have some questions and would greatly appreciate your help
Thank you so much for your help in advance and I hope everyone is staying safe out there in these unprecedented times. PS I live in USA (not sure if that makes a difference or not) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Jul 2020 02:39 PM PDT So I saw a local online seller selling a SHARP phone that I want for about 32% less than the usual price. Not discounted, its the normal price, and it's bundled with a sim card. Seller said its new, has official warranty, and the warranty can be checked via web or repair center. Any thought? Any shittery I might get? I need a new phone right now as in am still using my old Low End Xperia E from 2013. Black market phone is prohibited in my country, and they blocked any phone with unregistered IMEI (they won't work), so its less likely they sell black market phone. Should I get it? "Random number" apps in data usage? Posted: 30 Jul 2020 12:37 PM PDT Hi I have a few random number apps in my data usage screen, how can I find out what they are? I have one listed "10367" that has used 122mb of data, and a few more listed with like 3mb of data. On a side note this stupid data usage screen keeps refreshing me to the top if I scroll too fast. Galaxy Note 3 got really hot. Won’t charge or turn on even with new battery. Please help. Posted: 30 Jul 2020 12:16 PM PDT Hi Everyone, I tried to look for other questions like mine and couldn't find anything, hence the post. I have a Samsung galaxy note 3. I think it's SM-N900 model but I'm not 100% sure. I usually charge it overnight and have for years since I got it. About 2 weeks ago I woke up during the night and reached over to check the time. But the screen of the phone was boiling! Like almost too hot to touch. I unplugged the charging cable and it eventually cooled down. But it won't turn on. I've tried it with a few charging cables encase it was those, nothing. I even bought a brand new battery encase the old one overheated and stopped working and nothing. I plug in the cord and usually I get a green battery symbol to say it's charging but nothing at all. I did google 'my phone got hot and won't turn on' and got that it was either the battery or the phone itself. The fact that the screen was the bit that got hot and not the battery, and the fact I've put a new battery in and it doesn't do anything makes me believe the phone itself has gone wrong. The other advice was to 'reset the phone' via holding down the power button for 10 seconds or the power button and the volume button for 10 seconds. I tried both and nothing. I even tried the home button, the home and power, home and volume and then all three buttons and nothing. I'll also just mention I used a volt meter thing to make sure the new battery is working and yes it is. So my question is……. Right now I plug the phone via cable into my computer but my computer won't recognize it as anything, so I can't drag and drop anything off the phone onto the computer. a) Is there a way I can get my computer to recognize it as similar to a USB and access the file storage to drag and drop off my phone to my computer. (only reason I ask this is my sister old iPhone acted like this, it would be accessed just like a USB drive and I managed to drag all the photos off for her a few years ago. If I can do this and save as much data as possible, then that's all I really want) b) Is there anyway I can Frankenstein the phone to get to the internal memory storage/the phones hard drive and somehow get the information off it that way? I understand this may 'break' the phone but right now it's useless so if I can take it apart to get to it's internal hard drive then that is all that matters. I've already figured out the phone is completely broken but if I can salvage any data then I'm happy. I apologize with my wording, I'm not very technical. I'll also just quickly mention, when I had the new battery in and plugged in to see if it would charge. The back of the phone started getting warm. The back cover is off so you can see the battery. I'll try and explain where it got hot. Where you put the battery – there are 4 golden plates on the phone which line up with the 4 golden plates on the top of the battery. Just above that on the phone is where it started getting warm. So I pulled the battery out and unplugged it, computer still didn't recognize it as a device and I'm here begging your help. Please let me know if you need any other information. [link] [comments] |
Is there an antivirus for android that scans your whole fine system? Posted: 30 Jul 2020 12:11 PM PDT I know malwarebytes, avast, and virustotal apps just scan apps/apks. I'm wondering of there is one that will do a full scan of my phone? EDIT: Title should be "file" system [link] [comments] |
Using USB tethering to run a VOIP phone? Posted: 30 Jul 2020 11:54 AM PDT Has anybody tried running a VOIP phone via an Android phone's USB tethering and a usb-c/Ethernet adapter? I'm starting a new job soon that is sending out a phone as part of the equipment they provide, just wondering if I could run from my cell phone. Posted in r/Android originally, but apparently that's not the place to go. [link] [comments] |
