Strange giggling sound coming from Galaxy S10+ Posted: 25 Jun 2020 11:18 AM PDT Like the topic says, I've heard a faint giggling sound coming from my S10+ a couple times today. It happened once while I was briefly on the Tumblr app and again I believe while I was on Chrome. There was no indication from the notification bar indicating which app it could have potentially come from and it only lasted a second or two, so I didn't have the time to screen record it. I tried researching the potential cause of this and found a small handful of similar posts from the past decade but no real diagnosis of the problem or solution to it. I don't do any shady browsing on my phone and the only apps I have that didn't come from the Play Store are Tachiyomi and Blokada. I've run scans from both Avast and Malwarebytes and neither have found anything. What should I do? Do I just need to do a factory reset or can that be avoided? If I have to reset the phone, do I have to leave behind all the files and images currently on it? [link] [comments] |
My phone only charges from a laptop and not the outlet Posted: 25 Jun 2020 04:37 AM PDT I have a Samsung Galaxy A50 and this started to happen yesterday. I have tried cleaning the charger and the phone's port with no succes, also changing the charger, but it still would only charge from the laptop. There isn't anything visibily wrong with the port or any of the chargers. I did charge my phone on an outlet that is a bit broken and it might have accidently given it too much power and fried the charging port... so maybe that's the reason but I don't really think so since it still charges from the laptop Edit: I am pretty sure it is the adapter I thank you all for helping me, I don't think I would have figured it out on my own and would have probably sent it back. "Other" taking up too much space on Samsung Galaxy S9+ Posted: 25 Jun 2020 09:26 PM PDT When I look at my phone's storage, more than half of my phone's available space (37.38 GB) is listed as being taken up by the "other" category. I did everything from deleting pictures and videos to clearing the cache on some of my apps, but this number didn't really decrease much. In fact, it's gradually increasing over time! I know I could probably easily resolve this problem with a MicroSD card but I'm just wondering what might be clogging up my phone's storage. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I really want to know what is causing this! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Jun 2020 09:05 PM PDT I have an HTC One M8. I purchased it in 2014 and it has functioned extremely well.... until recently. In the past few days, the battery has drained so quickly that I can barely use it without it being plugged in (drains 10% in about 30-40 minutes). In one case, the battery died and every app needed to be reinstalled. Any thoughts? Is my phone finally pooched? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Images sent over Google Messages aren't delivering, get stuck on "Sent" Posted: 25 Jun 2020 04:19 PM PDT Chat features are enabled on both ends. Pretty sure the recipient hasn't blocked me. Under the "Resend message if undelivered" setting, I've selected "Ask before resending," but I haven't been asked anything. In the past I tried putting the device into airplane mode and resending, but the image still didn't deliver. Haven't tried it again because I don't want to risk inadvertently spamming this person with images. Edit: My device is an AT&T Galaxy S7 Edge, if it matters Edit 2: Subscribed to beta for Messages, and a few hours later tried the messages trick again and it worked. Idk if I actually did anything or if she's having some internet issues. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Jun 2020 07:47 PM PDT Hello! I factory reset my J7, but I'm now unable to use mobile data at all, and I'm not really sure what to do. Any questions or suggestions would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Carrier 4G LTE Network Bands Differentiation for Unlocked Phones Posted: 25 Jun 2020 07:18 PM PDT I checked the frequencies for a specific phone and since AT&T has more 4G LTE network bands (8 out of 9 supported) than Verizon (5 out of 5 supported), should I go with AT&T since it supports more bands? Does more bands means more coverage strength and reliability? Is that how this works for unlocked phones? [link] [comments] |
How do I turn on WiFi Calling in Android 9? Posted: 25 Jun 2020 07:04 PM PDT |
Phone will only charge when connected to computer, but not through a charger. Anyone know why? Posted: 25 Jun 2020 06:21 PM PDT I own a Samsung Galaxy S5, running Android 9 (Lineage). For some strange reason, the phone will only charge when connected to my computer (Windows 10) via a USB cable. Windows will tell me that the device is not recognized, but it charges anyhow. If I plug the phone into a charger or auxiliary battery, the phone does nothing and won't accept a charge. I've tried using multiple chargers and cables, used other people's chargers that are confirmed to work properly and NOTHING works. I'm at a loss and soon I'll be moving out of the city so I'll be making long drives. This is problematic because the GPS sucks the battery dry pretty quick. Anyone have any idea how to fix this? Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Difference between the versions of firefox Posted: 25 Jun 2020 02:29 PM PDT So I think I understand preview/nightly/focus, but I see two seperate listings in the play store for what looks like just the base browser - one called "Firefox Browser" and one called "Mozilla Firefox Browser", with different amounts of downloads, different ratings, and so on. Why is this, and does it matter which one I download? [link] [comments] |

LG G6 won't turn on or respond at all, please help! Posted: 25 Jun 2020 05:57 PM PDT Hello! I've been using the LG G6 Plus for 3 or so years now and have loved it. Lately, it's been slowing down extremely and giving me a ton of problems. I've been meaning to clean it out and free up memory, but I guess I put it off too long. Today, it froze twice this morning and seemed to reboot itself after ~30 seconds of being frozen. It finally gave me a warning I was almost out of storage (120 Gb, mostly Spotify and pictures), so I undownloaded about 20 Gb of Spotify and it seemed to run better. I backed pictures up on my computer in preparation to delete them off my phone. I ran the battery down to <15% and plugged it into charge. I came back an hour later and it had a black screen and no response. I tried 3 different chargers and it won't respond at all. Won't be recognized by my computer either. Finally, I put it on a wireless charger and the charger lit up indicating it detected the device, but I'm not sure if it's actually charging it. I've tried soft resets and powering it on, and it gives me no response at all. I can't even do a hard reset since the screen won't turn on. What's my issue here? I'm not sure if it would be the charging port, screen, or perhaps the motherboard? I plan on buying a new phone soon but I would like to be able to get back into this one to restore more than just my pictures. Any and all advice is strongly appreciated, thank you! Posted: 25 Jun 2020 05:42 PM PDT So I had some dust/dirt in my phone speaker and in order to clean it i used an embroidery needle (I know, not a smart idea) I got everything out but in the process i must have punctured a small hole in said speaker, now causing the audio to be atrocious, it has a horrible echo and listening to anything on it is giving me horrible headaches. Does anyone know if there's a way I can fix this? Or at least make it more tolerable. I have a Droid Turbo 2 if you need that info as well. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Jun 2020 05:38 PM PDT I just bought a OnePlus 8 Pro and after I restored my previous backup and setup the new phone I wanted to make a new backup. But I can't. Sites like this say this is a bug that has been around for YEARS with no fix. How is this still a bug? Losing automatic backup functionality is ridiculous. What options do we have to ask google to fix this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Jun 2020 01:08 PM PDT It's my dad's tablet. The WiFi connection is fine. It whenever I attempt to use the Play Music app (I wanted to look for podcasts he'd be interested in) I get an error message that tells me to check my connection. There's nothing to check; the connection works. Any suggestions? I personally use Apple so I'm not entirely Android fluent. [link] [comments] |
Is call recording working on samsung phones post android 10? Posted: 25 Jun 2020 04:20 PM PDT Hello everyone, I'm about to purchase a Galaxy Note 10 Lite. I can get it for cheaper from a parallel import rather than official. I don't care about the warranty though the only thing that puts me in doubt is the call recording feature. I've heard its been disabled in some phones due to state restrictions, though I am not sure how it works now, is it disabled? Do 3rd party apps such as ACR work without issues? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Advice please for system settings/ app Posted: 25 Jun 2020 04:14 PM PDT Hello all, Hoping you can kindly provide some guidance.. I want to give a phone to someone, that is locked out of ALL system settings except wifi setting. They need to have screen lock, so i have tried 'app locker' style apps. Which work except even with wifi shortcut ( for example having to input a new wifi password) the app locker takes over. Is there a wifi app that can be granted root permissions via adb? Which can sit outside of the locked settings? It is bordering on device admin stuff which is not an option. I hope this makes sense and look forward to hearing from you! To summarise; User can unlock phone with pin. User can access full wifi settings Any other settings are locked with a seperate password. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Notifications constantly going off while bluetooth is turned on Posted: 25 Jun 2020 04:11 PM PDT My grandpa has a Samsumg J7 V that he's had for a while that he's now having an issue with. Whenever Bluetooth is turned on his notifications constantly go off no matter what is going on on the phone. I tried to do some Googleing but nothing came up that might fix this issue. Has this happened to anyone else? It doesn't matter if its connected to anything or not, and there are no pending system updates to install. [link] [comments] |
Can't save images from google images Posted: 25 Jun 2020 02:53 PM PDT Have a galaxy note9 on telus (if carrier matters) and recently I havent been able to save any images from Google images. At first it was only on chrome but now it's on every browser, I can tap and hold the images as much and as long as I want but no menu pops up. Checked the permissions and cleared cache and still isnt working. Also worth mentioning I can save images from any site except google images [link] [comments] |
Schedule fast wireless charging on Samsung Galaxy S20+? Posted: 25 Jun 2020 02:46 PM PDT When I first put my phone on to wirelessly charge, it gave me the option to schedule when it would/wouldn't fast charge (because of the noise it makes). I did this, but have now decided I did the wrong times, but I cannot for the life of me find this option again to change it. Does anyone have any suggestions? [link] [comments] |

Air Command not working with S Pen on Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Posted: 25 Jun 2020 01:59 PM PDT Hey everyone, I've got a trusty Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 which I've had from new for about six years. Never dropped, always been good - had some issues with the battery and screen flickering, but I flashed it with TeamWin and updated to Marshmallow (currently running Android 6.0.1) - I did this over a year ago and have had no issues. I use Smart Launcher, which I greatly prefer over TouchWiz. So that's the background. Everything has been working fine, and as far as I can tell there has been no updates. But now, when I pull the S Pen out of the dock, the tablet makes it's 'Whoosh' sound - but no Air Command. I press the button on the S Pen - nothing. However, I do have the floating dot on the screen that indicates where the S Pen is pointing, and the S Pen is functional - if I were to edit a drawing, for example, I could do it entirely with the S Pen. I've tried rebooting, wiping the cache, but it hasn't worked. Also - and this may not be related, but I'll add it in anyway - the soft touch button on the left of the physical home button has stopped responding. When I press it, it lights up, but normally it would bring up a screen of active tasks, but now it does nothing. The back arrow soft touch button works fine. Second also - when I drag the drawer down from the top of the screen, there is the settings cog - pressing that does nothing. Those last two are minor annoyances that I can live with - the Air Command is something that I would like back! Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Jun 2020 01:55 PM PDT iOS 14 brings a lot to iOS that were features previously keeping people on Android. Such as: 1. Choosing default apps 2. Widgets 3. App drawer 4. Google Assistant Just to name a few. So what's keeping you all on Android? These 4 features were strong points to stay on Android, but now Apple has implemented them into iOS. They are bridging the gap more and more and I find the reasons to stay on Android slimming year after year. iOS is getting more features and customization options, iPhones are getting cheaper and more powerful, the Apple Watch is continuously getting better, iPads are getting better, more powerful, and more useful and feature rich, while the Android side everything seems to be getting stagnant. What's keeping you on Android? Any thoughts on switching to iOS or thoughts on these new developments on iOS? [link] [comments] |
Unwanted Suggestions in Settings - How do I get rid of them? Posted: 25 Jun 2020 09:53 AM PDT As the title suggests. Recently got a new Android10 phone, and now I've got these annoying suggestions that take up far too much of the screen every time I open settings. I cannot find a way to disable them, any help? This is what they look like. I also have a notification pop up on specific apps (so far, only Netvue) that states "Netvue is Running".. no shit, I just launched the app. Any way to get rid of this notification? I've checked the app's specific notification settings and there's only 1 notification category. Being that it's my home camera and I want notifications from the motion sensor, I don't want to disable all notifications. This is what it looks like. On the note of notifications - I'm finding notifications from some apps are coming in much slower than I should be receiving them. To note are my emails (I use BlueMail) and I'm not getting Netvue notifications despite them being on. To note, I am using a Motorola Hyper One. May 2020 security update. Any help to locate where the parts are that I need to disable would be great. [link] [comments] |
