Is the OP7 Pro worth it in 2020?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 11:35 AM PDT

I currently own a OnePlus 7 and I'll give it to one of my families soon. Since I don't want to buy an inferior device I was looking at the OnePlus 7 Pro since it's on "sale" on the OnePlus site and it costs 609€, with an added Karbon case as a gift. Is it worth it in 2020 or should I look for devices? Thank you!

Introducing a New OnePlus Smartphone Series

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 05:44 AM PDT

    Link: https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/introducing-a-new-oneplus-smartphone-series.1244781/

    Pete:

    Hi friends,

Today, I'm very excited to announce that we are bringing the premium, flagship experience that you've come to expect from OnePlus to a new, more affordable smartphone product line. I know this is something many of you have been wanting for a long time.

Never Settle has always been at the core of OnePlus. For more than 6 years, that has meant working hard to always deliver the best experience for flagship smartphone users. However, as we've grown together with our community, we know that there are many people who want a really solid smartphone that meets their everyday needs, and for a more accessible price.

As we have always done when we try something new, we are going to start relatively small with this new product line by first introducing it in Europe and India. But don't worry, we're also looking to bring more affordable smartphones to North America in the near future as well.

This new product team is led by Paul Yu, who has headed product hardware development for many of our previous flagship devices over the past 5 years. We've also assembled a team of young, creative and enthusiastic OnePlus staff from all over the world, who have been working tirelessly over the past few months to bring this product line to life.

Keep an eye out here for more details coming soon.

    Never Settle.

PLEASE add back the ambient screen clock styles that were (for no apparent reason) removed.

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 02:46 PM PDT

I got my 7t recently and was trying to figure out how to change the ambient screen clock to match the lock screen only to find out the multiple other clock styles were removed in an update. Now everyone has to use the goofy 2x2 clock style as if Samsung hasn't already forced that on their phones.

    OP7 keeps dropping WiFi connection

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 02:17 PM PDT

My OP 7 keeps dropping the connection to my router very temporarily. But it does it several times a day. Only really noticed it in the last week I think. I have tried restarting the router and forgetting the network and reconnecting.

    OnePlus 7

    Android 10

    Oxygen OS 10.3.3.GM57AA

    Security Patch 1st May 2020

Anyone else experiencing similar? I had a quick look around the sub but only similar posts I can see are about OP 8s and switching between 5GHz and 2.4GHz. Could this be the same thing?

Does anyone know a fix or a temporary workaround for fullscreen apps?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 05:19 PM PDT

I just got the OnePlus 8 and it's a great phone with a beautiful display but I wish I could use it all while watching movies. For example; Netlfix, Prime Video, Hulu, Vudu Movies Anywhere and a handful of games have this huge black bar covering the hole punch so the video looks shifted like I'm watching it on a Pixel 4. I found a workaround for Netflix by installing the 6.13.0 apk makes it have full screen functionality but I tried about 20 different versions of the other apps listed and none of them support the full screen functionality unless I missed something. Any ideas would help or is it just a wait and see type of situation?

    Installing TWRP on OnePlus 3

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 06:12 PM PDT

I have been trying to install TWRP on my OnePlus 3 (Indian Version). I have successfully unlocked the Bootloader. However, every time I install TWRP, it later gets replaced by the original recovery. I boot into TWRP after installing it via fastboot mode but still it gets replaced. I am also unsure whether dm-verity is causing this problem or not. Also, I did not get the "slide to allow system modification" prompt in booting into TWRP. I have installed the latest TWRP via the official TWRP website. The guide that I am following is the one available in OnePlus community forum found at the link below.

    guide

Please advice on how to rectify this issue.

Google Photos as default viewer for camera app

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 01:36 PM PDT

How can I set it so recently taken photos are automatically viewed in Google photos?

Or so I have to install the Google camera app to do that? How would I install that instead?

Free OnePlus 6 cases (you pay shipping)

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 02:33 PM PDT

Ditched my OP6 (non-T) last year due to damages and switched to a Pixel. Was cleaning out apartment when I found these cases. From left to right,

    • black Spigen case from Amazon with raised edges and good drop protection,

    • black matte flush-faced case that came with the phone that looks pretty but offers less drop protection, and

    • a clear case that also came with the phone with medium drop protection.

I have no use for them anymore. If you want them and can pay for shipping, DM me and it's yours. For now, I'm limiting to one per person (honor system) but if one (or all) of them go unclaimed then whatever. First come first serve.

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 03:12 PM PDT

How big is the gap between the two ?

My main reason to buy the pro over the regular is the camera. Is it justified ? Are the pros camera that much better ?

Is the 6T still having battery issues?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 03:35 PM PDT

I am looking into the 6T because I am thinking about switching from iPhone, but when I went online I saw many forums full of people complaining about their battery quickly draining, is this still the case?

    Thanks in advance!

OnePlus 7T Pro camera hot pixels at high ISO, long exposure

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 05:15 PM PDT

    Hi guys,

Last Friday I bought my first OnePlus phone, the 7T Pro. Everything is great, except one thing that's bugging me. Yesterday I noticed that when shooting in pro mode, at high ISO and long exposure, strange star-like spots appear in my photos. I've found a similar case in u/HeartfeltBlowjobs's night photo gallery.

Said spots appear to be always in the same places, gaining brightness with higher ISO and longer exposures. I noticed that the RAW files look(understandably, for those kinds of settings) very noisy, and it seems that the denoising algorithm sometimes mistakes intense noise as real photographed light spots.

I'm not convinced though. My brother's Galaxy S9 RAWs show more noise, but of much less intensity. Shooting at 48MP creates partially different noise, with some bright spots matching the 12MP results. I'm fairly certain I shouldn't combine ISO so high with exposures so long, but I don't think it should produce artifacts of such intensity. I'm no professional photographer though.

Here's my Imgur gallery documenting the problem

Should I be worried? Could some fellow 7Pro/7T/7TPro owner snap some high ISO long exposure pics, so we can check if this is normal? I'd like to know if it's OK, so I can sleep peacefully.

Getting 6-10% battery drain during standby at night. Oneplus 7T Pro, any help?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 08:31 PM PDT

Title. Initially I'd get the sleep optimization notification in the morning telling me how it optimized my phone at night and I use to lose only 2-3%. And a few weeks later that went away and now I drain 6/8-10% every night. Why is this happening? I'm also rooted, but I also know root shouldn't mess with battery. And there's no unnecessary app running in the background. I do a lot of browsing or youtube and clear running apps just before setting my phone down.

Lightning caused a power surge and my phone shocked me

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 02:27 PM PDT

We were having very bad lightning outside the house, so I went and plugged my phone into the charger in case the power goes out. The lighting went on for a little while and cable went down, so I was just browsing my reddit feed when it happened.

Lightning struck a power line very close to the house (indicated by how loud and instant the sound was) and a power surge happened to the front side of the house, where me and my phone were. The phone itself literally shocked me and the 35 watt brick made a popping sound.

I immediately thought my phone was doomed, for there probably is no way something like this was covered by the warranty. I thought my phone's battery charging was completely ruined. But when I plugged it in another outlet to test, it started charging again like normal!!!

I'm very proud of the fact that phones can handle things like that. I still dont know how the phone itself literally shocked me though.

Not receiving texts from iPhones all of a sudden?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 07:52 PM PDT

Has anyone else had this happen seemingly out of nowhere? I switched from an iPhone over a year ago and went through the whole "disable iMessage" process already, and just tried again for good measure, so that isn't the issue this time.

    • OnePlus 7 Pro
    • Verizon
    • Oxygen OS 10.3.3
    • Textra as default (but I checked the stock app and still no-go)
    • Confirmed can't receive SMS from two different iPhone users, but I can send SMS to them no problem
    • Can receive and send to other Android users

Any ideas? The only solution you'll find by googling is to disable iMessage...

Help with Bluetooth Earbud Choppy Mic sound and random disconnects

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 09:49 AM PDT

As stated in the title on phone calls my wife constantly complains about me sounding choppy and breaking up when I use any Bluetooth headset. And my Galaxy Buds+ keep disconnecting at random even though I've tried everything I can comfortably think of to get them to stop disconnecting.

This is the screenshot of my stock settings in developer options for my Bluetooth settings https://imgur.com/a/8zbpLWC

Does anyone have any suggestions/changes/fixes to this issue and is this a common issue it just an isolated incident?

Again I'm using a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds+ so any adjustments to improve my user experience are appreciated as well.

Car charger suggestion for oneplus 7

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 01:28 PM PDT

So, the title kinda says it all. The official op7 charger is not available at my country, so I have to get aftermarket ones. I would like it to charge my phone up fast though. What should I go for? 5v constant 3amps or above chargers? I recon quickcharge 2 or 3 chargers are out of the equation based on compatibility issues. Would love some recommendations as well. Cheers.
