Made a free "remote" app that helps kids like my daughter with special needs,

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 09:19 PM PDT

I made this app after the only device I could find for my daughter cost $250 for an IR learning remote with big buttons. This app basically lets you run google cast in the background or other streaming apps, and provides a big surface to touch. It also works with TiVO but I don't have their newer 4k streaming devices, so it still needs more testing in that area so it's still in beta until I can get better clarity on that. Otherwise, the app is stable and in daily use here at home.

I'm trying to find more people that can benefit from it, and get feedback of things or features they could also find useful. It has keyboard support, TTS, and some various remote functions for the TiVO. I'll continue working the project in the background as needed, but I'm looking get more feedback and tackle this niche space more if it can help folks out. If you have any thoughts in this area, please let me know. Thanks!

Update: Here's the beta invite link , seems maybe the main one may not show up for all because I haven't pushed it to production yet. At least that's the theory :)

Update - Video link used in the app store: https://youtu.be/rgkbyALuKYs

From comments below: Just pretend for now you can see the casted video on a tv that skips every time you touch the screen 😁. I should probably do a tablet recording showing picture in picture to demo the functionality better.

    Note taking apps, again

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 08:02 AM PDT

I'm starting to get tired of the limited functionality in Keep, but the main problem I have in finding something else is I don't want much more functionality. The main feature I'm crying out for is folders. As my notetaking continues to increase the label functionality I co-opted for this purpose isn't cutting it any more, I need better organisation.

I just want something where I can take notes, that allows me to set notifications on some of them, Android app and Web browser accessibility, and a basic folder structure to file them away.

If there isn't a clean answer I'm probably going to end up using two different notetaking apps, I'm at a loss for what else to do.

Looking for an app to make noise when I walk

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 11:41 AM PDT

Apparently I walk too quietly, and tend to startle people by simply existing... So I'm looking for an app that will use my phone's pedometer to detect when I'm walking and make some sort of sound to make me less sneaky. Any ideas?

    YouTube Vanced Help Needed

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 11:31 AM PDT

Up untill yesterday my v12.23.60 worked fine but now I can't open it because it asks for an update, an update that leads to PlayStore's spam app.

Uninstalled the old version and downloaded vanced.app version and followed the instructions but get this error:

INSTALL_FAILED_DUPLICATE_PERMISSION: Package com.vanced.android.youtube attempting to redeclare permission com.mgoogle.android.c2dm.permission.RECEIVE already owned by com.mgoogle.android.gms

Any suggestions and/or help is much appreciated.

    Thanks...

Keyboard with dedicated or quick shortcut 'copy/paste/select all.. Etc' button.

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 07:52 PM PDT

As the title says, I have been using A.I.Type for a while but it became unusable and intrusive with unnecessarily requesting permissions.

Edit: thank you all for your input, Chrooma wins this round.

Looking for good looking Facebook app alternatives

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 04:13 AM PDT

Dark mode is a must. It'd be great if the "reacting" part is not buggy.

Keep the suggestions coming I'll test them all out.

    Thanks in advanced

Is this flash player app safe?

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 11:20 AM PDT

It's called "Flash Game Player NEW", I have played some Super Mario 63 on it and it is laggy. But the best of it's kind that I have found so far. So, even though an app is good, we must also know if the app is safe. If it isn't good / safe, is there an alternative? Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vkrun.fgpnew

Calendar app with pre-defined events and drag & drop

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 11:14 AM PDT

I'm considering my options for planning and staying organized. One thing I don't like about calendar apps is that most require you to set up each event from scratch - start time, end time, title, colors, etc.

What I would like is a calendar app that lets me define certain events, set the duration, title, colors, and then lets me drag & drop these. Ideally I'd like to have 2 columns, one for the daily calendar view and one for pre-defined events, then I could drag/copy events. Another way could be to open a menu on long press that allows me to select a pre-defined event to insert.

I know there's calendar apps that have support for recurring tasks, which is great, but not what I'm looking for.

App to convert video to GIF directly from URL?

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 07:52 AM PDT

I see all these apps to download videos from Instagram links, and all these apps to convert videos on my phone to GIFs, but none that will take the URL and output the GIF.

Does anyone know of an app that can do this in one go? And if this is not possible, why? 🤔

    Thanks!

    Privacy friendly keyboard apps?

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 06:55 AM PDT

Can anyone recommend good keyboard apps that aren't connecting to the internet or possibly risks for keylogging etc?

I read from a thread on r/privacy that people were recommending something called AOSP keyboard, but I have no idea which company makes this or how to get the app. It doesn't come up in Google play store

Also, while I'm on the subject, the Samsung keyboard that came with my galaxy s10 suddenly started typing different letters from the keys I press. Does anyone know what would cause this? I can't type hardly because everything gets turned into a jumbled mess

I also can't figure out how to reset the keyboard or anything. I cleared the cache in the app and that didn't help, and I clicked force stop and that didn't either

[DEV] Anyone remembers the Popcap's oldie game Alchemy?

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 05:18 PM PDT

    Hi everyone

I released my latest game "Signs", which has the same playstyle of classic Alchemy.

It has simple rules. Every item has two properties; symbol and color. You must put down items next to the ones with the same symbol or same color. When you put down an item, it becomes golden. The aim of the game is to convert all the tiles on the board to gold. After each level new symbols and colors will appear and makes the board more complicated.

Here is the market URL: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.msb.signs

I'm looking forward to your feedback.

    Thanks.

The game is StackFall (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oneunit.stackfall). The idea is quite simple:

    1. Stack the boxes (I know, many wow! so clever! much doge!)
    2. Variety of boxes with unique characteristics
    3. Upgrade system
    4. Compete with other players (Leadership board)

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Can you add money to your Google play balance?

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 06:04 AM PDT

Been doing the rewards questions for a while and planned to use the balance to get some apps but I'm slightly short on what I need. I know there are gift cards but even the lowest amount is way too much.

Database app for an auto repair shop

    Posted: 03 Jun 2020 06:00 AM PDT

Hey guys I got a friend that wants a personalized and easy to use app with a basic way of input information, not too much, just name and other information but it wants it to be easy, just tap with the finger, start filling boxes and then print, and he wants the logo of the company in the document generated by the app for printing.

I don't know how do you call it, a form? or a database, no idea.

    Thanks in advance

    Factory Reset

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 09:33 PM PDT

Is there an app which will, based on a gesture or clicking a button, perform a factory reset on your phone? I've found a few with horrible ratings on the App Store and haven't found anything on F-Droid.

    Thanks!
