Posted: 05 May 2020 12:11 AM PDT Hello all. I'm looking at a laptop (an Acer Aspire with 4GB ddr4 and 128gb ssd if that matters) and it has an option to choose from three different types of AMD Ryzen. I'm not very tech savvy so idk what it is. I asked my little brother as he knows more about computers and he said its trash but I dont know if I should trust his stance as some of the articles I've read said that it's a good feature. So what is AMD Ryzen? And which one should type should I get: A) AMD Ryzen 3 3200u B)AMD Ryzen 5 3500u C) AMD Ryzen 7 3700u If it matters this laptop is for mainly school. I'm also going to use it for gaming and using my digital art tablet (XP-PEN artists 12). Edit: First I would like to say thank you all for the information and computer recommendations. I appreciate that you all took the time to answer my question and explainedin a way that I can understand. I also should clarify that I'm not a high gamer I only play Apex and Sims. Lenovo X1 Yoga (4th Generation) vs. Lenovo Yoga C940 Posted: 05 May 2020 10:08 AM PDT Hey, everyone! I'm in the market for a 2-in-1 laptop and wanted to get your thoughts on the difference between these machines and see which one is better. I know the Yoga has better build quality, but is it drastically different? I will mainly use this for school and tasks like photo/video editing and coding in my spare time. With the Thinkpad sale, I'll be able to save a lot of money if I buy the X1 Yoga now, but I've been looking at the C940 for a while. Maybe you guys can help me with the decision. I'm looking at the 14" version of both unless a dedicated GPU is needed for my tasks. Then I might look at the 15.6" model of the C940. The specs I'm currently hoping for are an Intel Core i7 CPU, decent GPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD. Thanks for your help in advance! [link] [comments]

"Tell" laptop not to use RAM soldered onto motherboard Posted: 05 May 2020 12:39 PM PDT ASUS laptop VivoBook S14 S410UN. It's past warranty. It's been experiencing intermittent freezes and memtest confirms RAM issue. The laptop came with one 8GB stick of RAM that's soldered onto the motherboard. There is a second empty RAM slot available. Possible solution: I was thinking of upgrading to 16GB of RAM anyway. I was hoping I could buy one 16GB stick, put it in the empty slot, and somehow "tell"/instruct the laptop not to use the stick of RAM that's soldered onto the motherboard. Or "disable" the stick of RAM that's soldered into the motherboard somehow. So it will only use the new stick in the slot. Is this possible? [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 May 2020 08:27 AM PDT Hello, i would like to buy a laptop to play visual novels like Danganronpa, but i have absolutely no knowledge in hardware. Do you think a 400€ laptop can run visual novels ? [link] [comments]

RTX 2060 + Ryzen 7 3750H or GTX 1660 TI + i5-9300H? (Gaming) Posted: 05 May 2020 01:55 PM PDT I'm looking at two options as of now ASUS TUF FXF505DV GPU: RTX 2060 CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3750H ACER Nitro 5 GPU: GTX 1660TI CPU:Intel core i5-9300H I want to play games at low settings (both have 120/144 hz screns), but I've heard people telling me that the RTX 2060 is only slightly better and that Ryzen 7 will bottleneck it worse than the GTX 1660 TI one. I want to mostly play CSGO, Rainbow Six Seige, Battlefield, Star wars and others. The RTX one costs about 70 dollars more. Will the CPU be a bottleneck? [link] [comments]
Should I wait to buy a AMD Ryzen 7 4800H Laptop? Posted: 05 May 2020 10:06 AM PDT Currently using a i7 9750H laptop i bought like 4 months ago. Would love that additional CPU boost as its basically the same price I paid for the i7. Should I preorder as soon as I can or wait a few more months (4 month limit i am willing to wait) and get an even better price? Also if anyone has the best price for a AMD Ryzen 7 4800H laptop with 32GB Ram (16GB will work) and a RTX 2060 OR 2070, 512GB NVMe SSD, I would really appreciate it. [link] [comments]

Dell G3 15 3590 Screen Upgrade/Replacement Posted: 05 May 2020 01:46 PM PDT Has anyone found a 120hz+ screen that actually fits the frame? I've looked all over reddit and other forums and haven't found one. [link] [comments]
Why does this laptop appear to be under-priced? Is it actually reasonably priced? Most others, that I have seen that have those specs, are around $2K or more, aren't they? [link] [comments]

No Power Not Charging - Lenovo Ideapad 320 Posted: 05 May 2020 01:13 PM PDT Folks, i'm new here! I was using my laptop yesterday to render an image using Lumion 6 until it suddenly died and won't charge, won't turn on. It was on full battery before it died, so I thought my batt was damaged. But when I opened it from below, tried unplugging the battery, plugging to DC source and long press to the power button before turning it on, still nothing happened. Do you have any idea what happened? [link] [comments]
Trade macbook pro 2017 for a dell xps 13 9370? Posted: 05 May 2020 12:58 PM PDT I have a dual core i5 macbook pro 2017 8gb ram, is it worth trading it for a dell xps 9370, I will also pay an added £100. I am worried as macbooks are more realiable and the dell xps has never had issues aparently and is mint condition. I am a computer science student so 16gb of ram and 512gb storage is quite attractive to me. I don't think windows is great though but I think i can dual boot linux with it. The dell xps also has a 4k touchscreen which is a plus but it has no warranty. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 May 2020 05:13 AM PDT There's fucking massive potential here. Decent spec, quality laptops with serviceable parts at dirt cheap prices. I've looked all over Aliexpress and some asian online shopping websites and they offer things like a Ryzen 3500u, 8 gb of ram and a full blown 512gb ssd for like 300 USD. They even have metal built frames and stuff. There's something weird though; I can't find any reviews of anything in english anywhere. None of the big name tech youtubers have even mentioned any of their products once. It's pretty off-putting when a product that sounds good on paper has no reviews. So, does anyone have any experience with them? I'd love to hear the good, bad and ugly when it comes to a product. [link] [comments]
Need help with gaming/HTPC/LAPTOP setup Posted: 05 May 2020 12:35 PM PDT Hi, I am trying to construct a home theater/Console/gaming setup. I am gonna buy a monitor and speakers. The problem is connecting the Console (PS2, Wii, and 2 Laptops). I am trying to connect all of these to one monitor and I don't know what to get to split and control the signals. I am fairly tech savvy but don't know a lot about monitor and console stuff. I need to know what ports my monitor should have, what extra stuff (output switcher, cables) and other stuff I need. I want to know what to buy and if its possible. The problem, to reiterate, is what I will need to connect all the stuff (PS2, Wii, and 2 Laptops) to monitor and switch between them freely. Feel free to ask for more details! Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 May 2020 12:33 PM PDT I am planning to buy the new surface laptop 3 13 inch. But i have read some posts that people have been getting very bad battery life with the surface laptop. Some say they get around 4-5 hours, while others says 8-10 hours. Can you guys tell me how your experience with the surface laptop 3 battery life is? [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 May 2020 12:11 PM PDT Hi all, I'm looking at buying a gaming laptop but the specs/build quality of a lot of laptops aren't what I want, so I'm looking at PC specialist to get a custom specced one. I've heard both good and bad things about them and I'm a bit skeptical from buying here. Also does anyone know what their warranty is like? My budget is around £1600 and what I've got is this: Recoil IV Chassis & Display Recoil Series: 15.6" Matte Full HD 240Hz 72% NTSC LED Widescreen (1920x1080) Processor (CPU) Memory (RAM) Graphics Card 1st M.2 SSD Drive Battery Thermal Paste Bluetooth & Wireless USB/Thunderbolt Options Keyboard Language Operating System Operating System Language Browser Notebook Mouse Webcam Warranty Insurance Chassis Cheers btw [link] [comments] |
