    Hey people,

    Thanks for taking the time to read this, I just need a little advice before i commit to the purchase. I've been looking for laptops that I can use at work for usual office stuff and some gaming too. I wanted a laptop that doesn't scream "I'm a gaming Laptop" if that makes sense.

    A massive point is that I really would like this laptop to last, I've had laptops in the past that become obsolete within a year, and I just want something to last.

    So, I have a G7 15 7588 laptop, which has 256GB of SSD and 8GB of RAM. Problem is that I'm almost out of storage, and I think it's time for an upgrade. I was looking into buying a 2TB SSD from addlink on Amazon, priced at around $270. However, I think 2TB might be a little overkill for me. I mostly use my pc for occassional gaming, school work (I'm a graphic design student) and just other lightweight stuff. However, I was thinking of getting a little more involved in the pc gaming world, so I want to try out a few games, while having space available for them. I was thinking that I could probably get a 1TB SSD instead, and use the rest of the money on upgrading on RAM. Thing is, I'm trying to get into the world of pc gaming. So, I turn to you, fellow Redditors: should I get the 2TB SSD and stick with my 8GBs of RAM, or should I go for 1TB and upgrade on RAM, too?

    Should I change a laptop's fan?

    Hi redditors. I'm currently trying to repare the +9 years old laptop of my aunt, and need advice on changing the only fan it has. It seems so be weak for the temperature the cpu is reaching, even though I already changed the thermal paste. She doesn't want to buy a new PC, so, any fan is valid? Which one do you recommend me?

    Hello I've been searching for a laptop and luckily on Facebook marketplace I've come across a few listings of MacBooks. Mostly are 2009 and 2010 versions for great prices. Are those okay to buy? Would i have any issues with it?

    Just stepped on my Lenovo Flex 14 and broke a portion of its screen. I would rather sell it for what it's worth at this point than replace it. Are there online marketplaces for that sort of thing?

    The laptop would be 100% functional with a replacement screen but since it was cheap (579.99) I would rather not sink a third of its cost into fixing it. Where can I sell a broken laptop to be refurbished?

    Does Asus warranty covers CPU fan problems (not caused by user)?

    I'm asking this because my laptop's (Asus Zenbook Flip s ux370ua) fan has been making rattling noises for a little under a month now. I tried opening it and gently cleaning the fan, but this worked for barely 2 days and then the noise started again. Since the laptop is fairly new (6 months) and a replacement fan costs around $40-50, I'd like to know, before I shell out the money, if this kind of problem is covered by Asus' warranty. Ty in advance

    Edit: forgot to add that I've never dropped it or caused any damage to it, it's been sitting on my desk for most of its lifetime

    Processor vs RAM/SSD in regards to speed

    This might be a stupid question, but what makes a bigger difference in speed of a laptop? Generally, would a better processor, ryzen 5 over a 3 etc, be worth it for less ram/storage? At what point, if any, does ram beat a better processor?

    Hi. I'm not too familiar with the differences in laptops and I was hoping someone more knowledgeable could help me out. It would be greatly appreciated.

    Looking for a computer that can run photoshop without freezing and chrome in the background. I'll also be using it as my daily laptop.

    I'm looking to stay as budget as possible. I don't mind using something older, refurbished, etc. If that will work.

    Also, I think I'll need a drawing tablet. Again, I don't need the best one, I just need it to do the basics so I can get through school.

    fan runs at maximum speed and won't turn off when it's cold.

    if i restart my laptop it turns off but once i open a program the fan starts going full speed and doesn't turn off until i turn off the computer. i tried switching cooling to passive in power options and it did nothing. this is loud so it's really annoying!!

    So, I'm currently looking for a laptop for rather simple usage. I'm really not wanting to spend more than $500 and would honestly like to spend a little less than that ($350 would be perfect) but whatever. It's really only needed to take a few online courses and then to be used for independent contracting work (keeping track of finances and clients....it'll basically be used for personal training and nutrition tracking)

    I've looked at ASUS, Dell, and HP. Are they all pretty comparable in quality?

    Would Chromebook be wise to go with?

    Is there anything specific I should be looking for?
