    Bitlocker Help

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 05:19 PM PST

I tried to change some of the BIOS settings on a Surface Pro and now it is asking for a Bitlocker Code. The problem is, when I go to the sign in to access your Bitlocker code on Microsoft's website, it is saying there are no keys associated with this device. Is there any way to find it or am I SOL?

    Issue with Windows Update 1909

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 06:53 AM PST

Been trying update my laptop to the new software and it's been giving me the same issues repeatedly. The update would progress to something like 30% and then my laptop would just shutdown immediately. After booting it up, I am greeted by a black screen that says "Undoing changes made to your computer" and in the end the update did not install.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on and are there any solutions to this issue? Thanks!

Windows 7 doesn't recognize wireless connection

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 05:36 PM PST

When i try to connect to the internet via a wireless connection, I get the issue that there are no connections, and no connections are available. I've tried looking to see if adapters are enabled by going to change adapter settings, but there were no adapters recognized. I am wondering if this is due to win 7 losing support in jan 14, and wifi connection not working. If anyone else had this issue please tell me and how you fixed it.

High memory usage then normal, is something wrong?

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 09:24 AM PST

So today I hopped on my PC, if it makes a difference it was on for a few hours and noticed my memory (RAM) usage was 75%. All the while I was getting breakpoint errors. Then I shut it down and hop on and the memory is usage is fine like 22%. I ran a malwarebytes and windows defender quick scan and nothing showed up. Is there something wrong or is it fixed? I have windows 10 by the way.

Upgrade options from Windows 7 Enterprise to any Windows 10

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 06:53 AM PST

A relative of mine asked about upgrading their Windows 7 PC to Windows 10. Easy peasy with the upgrade assistant, except it turns out they have 7 Enterprise (legit and activated, ex-corporate PC).

What would be the possible upgrade paths here?

Is there any way to disable the "press alt to highlight menu bar" functionality without downloading external software?

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 03:50 PM PST

Basically I use photoshop and the alt button is essential in my workflow but the alt button functionality lags because of the default function of the alt button in windows. (at least I'm pretty sure this is why it's lagging) And I'm on my work computer and I don't have access to download any software that might override this.

I've done a bunch of googling to try and find an answer but haven't found anything conclusive so I wanted to ask here.

    Thanks!

Edit: sorry I should point out I'm on windows 10

My computer writes dots on its own. Is it a keyboard or Windows 10 bug?

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 02:49 AM PST

So I get this weird bug. Suddenly the computers types "..........." on its own. And there nothing I can do to stop it.

I don't know if the problem comes from the computer or the keyboard.

I have windows 10 and I use a Logitech keyboard.

When I turn the keyboard off it keeps writing ".............", no matter what software I am using.

How should I go about it?

Skype issue that can ruin PC performance

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 02:40 PM PST

I had version of Skype integrated in Windows 10.

It was very laggy so I decided to try downloadable version.

I installed Skype from official site.

    And it was good.

But after I installed it my games became to seriously lag and processor was under strong pressure (60%).

In sound options I found that there are two Skypes on!

When I deleted integrated version of Skype everything became great! Processor became to use just 15% of its resources.

    And games began to fly.

So the issue is intgrated Skype is not being replaced by downloadable version and two instances work simultaneously causing lag!

I read though several posts to disable the Delivery Optimization, used Disc Clean Up as an Admin, all to no change. Then in another Thread from here i read that its save to delete the folder. I deleted it, but the Storage hasnt really been cleared and im not sure what to do. Any tips?

windows 10 cortana & searchui.exe missing in task manager, windows 10 search bar not working when clicked

started happening yesterday, downloaded some software called "OldTimer's Cleanit" to fix a problem where all my processes would freeze and my mouse disappeared. installed it, ran it and then it told me to restart my computer for the changes to take place. after restarting, the windows search bar wouldn't work (must've been coincidence, just noting) so I looked up fixes and found one that told me to update and restart my pc to get it to work. updated it today with nothing changing, already tried powershell commands, the troubleshooter, restarting windows explorer through task manager and admin cmd prompt, please help

don't know if supposed to look like this, but the search bar doesn't work either.

why is virus & threat protection white?

Fast one way sync of two folders; So Changes from one folder will update the 2nd folder, but changes from 2nd folder won't change the first folder.

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 12:21 PM PST

I have one folder for github, and another synced to my google drive. I want changes in my github folder to be able to be automatically pushed to my google drive folder, but not the other way around.

Windows Toy Sync doesn't fulfil my requirements because you have to manually sync each time.

Dsynchronize doesn't quite fulfill my requirements because the sync is too slow. I think it checks for changes every 5 seconds, which is better than Windows Toy Sync, but I need something more instantaneous.

Windows 10 Notifications "snoozed" when display is off, keyboard/mouse inactive

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 11:57 AM PST

Every time when I leave my PC and come back after a while, once I turn on my monitor and move mouse/keyboard, a bunch of notifications that came during that time would appear. If I use an external speaker and the display is off + mouse/keyboard no movement, there would be no notifications too since no sound.

My Focus Assist is only enabled for gaming, all off otherwise.

Is there a way to make Windows get notifications while the PC is "not active" like it used to be like in 1703 (issue started with 1709)? I find it annoying that all the notifications are popping up especially most of them are already read on mobile during the time I'm away from the PC.
