Posted: 03 Feb 2020 09:48 AM PST Hello everyone, I'm a student in France looking for a laptop for classes. I'm really struggling because I feel that all computers under 1,000 euros are terrible, I want a solid computer and that lasts a long time. Here's what I expect from my laptop :
I will use it to browse the web, watch videos, series and movies, for word processing, to do programming, very light gaming (2D game) and electronic projects. If what I ask for doesn't exist at that price, I'll save. Thank you very much. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Feb 2020 01:55 PM PST I am looking to buy a $700 laptop primarily for gaming and was wondering if the Asus Vivobook k570zd would be a good choice. https://www.amazon.com/Vivobook-IPS-Level-GeForce-Graphics-Fingerprint/dp/B07SXST6P9?th=1 [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Feb 2020 01:52 PM PST My mate is looking into buying a laptop for about £350-£400. All he really wants it for is to play football manager and a bit of web browsing. Can anyone recommend a decent laptop please? Thanks [link] [comments]
Can one open Dell Inspiron 7590 using one hand? Posted: 03 Feb 2020 01:48 PM PST I mean, by holding just the screen part. Will the laptop open or will it float entirely? I couldn't find the answer anywhere in the internet... [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Feb 2020 01:32 PM PST Hi, I am looking into purchasing a laptop that is generally cheap and can run Unity well. The two that I am currently debating between are : ACER Aspire 3 A315-54 and ACER Aspire 3 A315-42. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]
How can I know if I can change or ad components on a laptop before buying it ? Posted: 03 Feb 2020 01:04 PM PST It's more of a general question from a total noob in computer things. I have browsed a few sites and it wasn't mentioned anywhere. I mean, I know at least some laptops can have their RAM upgraded, why wouldn't it be stated that it can or can't be done ? Posted: 03 Feb 2020 12:38 PM PST So long story short. I have a friend that has fallen on very hard times and he is in need of a laptop so I want to gift him my old one I have laying around. Now the deal is that it is filled with junk from years of use so before gifting it to him I need to rinse it out. Now to my question. Is it possible for my friend to create a new microsoft account and log on and use it without buying a new windows 10 licence? Or will we run into trouble? I was hoping I didn't need to stay logged in on my account. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Feb 2020 12:20 PM PST my laptop only charges if it's not laying like this : __ It charges when it's like this : | (i hope you get what i mean lol) is it because of the battery? maybe it's a bit loose? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Feb 2020 12:17 PM PST Hi there, I've got a Gigabyte P15 Laptop and all of a sudden it shut down and stopped working. It won't power on. When I try power it on (without the charging cable) the Power LED flashes green and that's it. When I try power it on (with the charging cable & the battery) the Power LED flashes green twice and stays on orange. The battery LED status is also green when the cable is plugged in. Any ideas to get this started back up or if it's a hardware failure. [link] [comments]

Ideapad 330S (81FB00HKUS) Battery Drain - Anyone having issues? Posted: 03 Feb 2020 11:59 AM PST I recently purchased a refurbished Ideapad 330S 81FB00HKUS and noticed the battery life is abysmal. At 100%, when I press the battery icon in the task bar, I get an estimated 90-120 minutes. Playing league of legends/browsing on the internet gave me no more than two hours. Is this normal for a full battery? Shows an estimated 7 hours on Walmart's product details. Does anyone have the same model and can give me some insight on their battery performance? Also, how can I check my battery capacity? Although it came refurbished, it looks pretty brand new, but was from a store on eBay, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was used There's 10 months left on the warranty, and I got a pretty good deal, so I'd be hesitant to return it rather than get a replacement. Alienware Laptop - Won't turn on Posted: 03 Feb 2020 11:17 AM PST Hey guys, so I have an alienware laptop 17 R2. It started having a few issues, the speakers stopped working, then touchpad, finally the whole KEYBOARD stopped working. Now the laptop won't power on, I took the laptop apart and when I opened it on the motherboard where it says "speakers" it looks like there's mold or corrosion along the motherboard, it's prolly the size of 2 quarters. I've followed tips on cleaning, I've cleaned the section as instructed and I'm still not getting power to the laptop. I've also tried holding down power button with and without battery in. Even tried plugging laptop in without battery and power cable. I'm trying to figure out what my next option would be. [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Feb 2020 09:55 AM PST So i was rendering a 3D model on my lenovo y740 (rtx 2060) and suddenly it crashed , i did not think much of it and reopened the app and then it crashed again immediately and the screen went black. I rebooted and the screen was still black, so i went to BIOS and found out i was on discrete graphics which i changed to switchable graphics and rebooted normally. Now whenever i open an application which uses the nvidia card (i know it by the option "run with graphics processor") it opens a black tab or crashes if it's a heavy program (games , 3d renders ...) I've tried re-installing drivers , new windows intallation , static discharge .. N.B: the gpu is detected on the device manager but shows 0 degrees on HWinfo [link] [comments]
Is Windows as stable/reliable as Macs these days? Considering switching over after 8 years Posted: 03 Feb 2020 09:46 AM PST I've had an MBP since 2012 and it's worked well for me until now. I had a Windows 7 laptop before that. I'm in the market for a laptop again and I do like the aesthetic of Windows 10, the fact that it works well with Android, and the touch/tablet capabilities in the Surface and other models, which I would use but is not a deal breaker to not have. I'm just wondering whether Windows 10 has become more stable and reliable than it's predecessors. My MBP was definitely more reliable compared to previous Windows laptops I used and I do really like its trackpad and gestures. Other than that, I mainly use Chrome (maybe Edge Chromium going forward), MS Office and some occasional light video and photo editing. Would Windows 10 be as stable as I've found my Mac to be? What would be some of the pros and cons of switching? I'm leaning towards a SurfaceBook or some similar product, if I do make the switch. [link] [comments]
Wireless presenter with mouse-like feature? Posted: 03 Feb 2020 09:44 AM PST Hi, I am looking for a wireless presenter that can work like a mouse to move the cursor of the desktop around. Any recommendation? I am using a MacBook Pro. How come they all seem to require a dongle? Why there is no Bluetooth version? [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Feb 2020 09:21 AM PST hi. i recently bought a little 2-in-1 (dell inspiron 13 5368) because it was half-price through my school bookstore. The plan was for it to be used solely for school. my day-to-day computer is a maxed-out omen, is there a way to connect the two in order to borrow some processing power? I am not used to using a machine that needs more than a split second to do anything asked of it. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Feb 2020 09:18 AM PST Does anyone know where I can find an adapter that works with my laptop? I've tried finding one online, but the chargers I find are unrated and I'm not sure if they're even legitimate. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
