Posted: 10 Feb 2020 10:10 PM PST I'm looking at the base models for both Microsoft Surface laptop in comparison... vs In terms of gaming performance... which one would be the better options? The intel Iris or the Vega 9 GPU? I also hear that the AMD CPU on the 15" is not strong and may bring down performance. Very light gaming such as Overwatch & League of Legends. No video editing so I'm doing not doing anything intensive. Just need something on the go and light (not a gaming laptop)... I have my main computer that I do my work at home. [link] [comments] |

Need help with picking an ultrabook Posted: 11 Feb 2020 12:25 AM PST Hello everyone, Lately I've been looking up Ultrabooks as I decided to buy myself one, and my choices have summed up to either the MacBook pro 2020 which is coming out soon, or the Asus zenbook 14/15 ux434. I am a newbie regarding laptops but basically all I want is a solid, fast, reliable and powerful laptop which won't cause me much trouble since I intend to spend around $1000 - $1500. Any suggestions or alternatives? It would be really appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Feb 2020 08:06 PM PST I'm looking for a $500-$1,000 laptop to use exclusively for real estate. No gaming, if video editing it will be extremely limited, needs to: Boot up very fast, be very dependable, very good battery life. SSD for sure, and don't need more than 256. Needs to be light enough, but doesn't need to be crazy light. Touch screen not necessary. Screen size 14-16". Mostly doing web based programs with cloud storage. I could go slightly higher in price for the right laptop. Leaning towards Lenovo but up for any knowledgeable recommendations. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 10 Feb 2020 03:58 PM PST I'm a med student who just needs a new laptop for studying and streaming. I don't do anything crazy with my laptop (and no gaming) but I'd like something that has good battery life, is lightweight, and will last me for at least the next 5 years. Max price is $1200 USD. It seems like the XPS 13 and the Lenovo Yoga C940/930 are pretty highly recommended but I'm open to other Lenovo Yoga models, as well as any other laptops you think would be good for me. Also, if you could provide reasoning for your recommendation that would be great! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Feb 2020 07:05 PM PST I haven't even looked at laptops in a good 5+ years so I have no idea whats good and whats out there on the market these days. Ive been using a desktop PC i built for myself the last few years, but its began to die now and I find myself barely using it for the gaming like I originally got it for. So I've decided to get a laptop instead. I currently study and use the internet quite a lot. I want something thats good on battery life and will last me for a good few years. I stream and download a lot of media, so I am hoping for good picture and colour quality. I multitask quite often on computers. About the only games I play on PC now is minecraft and strategy based games. So I don't need something graphics heavy but if thats a perk I wont turn it down. Im not looking for a low range laptop, I want something that is good at what it does, I have a fault that i enjoy having good things if not better then i need. Id love something over 14ish inches, i like a larger screen. Money isnt the largest issue, I understand these things can be expensive, that being said im not looking for the most apex of the apex, a good midrange or above average is what im aiming for. Any options to look at and personal preferences and such would be appreciated. Oh and I am a windows user, personally never been a fan of apples operating system. [link] [comments] |

(US market is within my reach as I have a relative there who can buy buy me a laptop. Latest by April 2020). Thenks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Feb 2020 06:15 PM PST * **Total budget and country of purchase:** Around $500, United States * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** Best specifications * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** Not particularly. * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** n/a * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** Only looking to do some light gaming * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** ARK and Subnautica would probably be the most demanding titles I'm interested in right now * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?** Optical drive would be nice but isn't required; bigger one for me is being able to upgrade RAM at some point. SSD would be preferred over HDD, but there again just having the option to upgrade to SSD at some point would be enough. 3 USB ports is a must, excluding any USB-C ports. * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.** My current laptop is an ASUS ROG G73JH, which after a decade is finally crapping out. Ideally I'd like a machine which would be considered an upgrade from that, but I have no idea if the budget I have available will get me there, so I'm fine with just having the option to upgrade components down the road instead. Portability isn't a huge concern as the vast majority of my use happens at a single location. This machine is being paid for as a gift to me, and I was given a budget of "somewhere around 500 USD maybe", so while it'd be best to keep the price to right around $500 or under, I can probably get away with a bit more (if nothing else, I can always ask if a given price is fine). I would also prefer new, but I'm not opposed to used/refurbished if there's nothing on the market new in my price range that would satisfy my requirements. [link] [comments] |

Used Razer Blade 15 vs 2020 HP Spectre 15 Posted: 10 Feb 2020 09:16 PM PST Hi good people of Reddit. I'm trying to decide between a used 2019 Razer Blade 15 OLED or waiting for the 2020 HP Spectre X360 15. I need a 4k screen and good thermals (preferrably allowing for adjustment of the fan curve via 1st or 3rd party software) for intensive web and graphic design work. The Razer Blade is a bit out of my price range, even Used on Amazon, but I'm willing to wait and save if it's worth it. Another option recommended to me was the Gigabyte Aero 15 but I honestly don't enjoy the slightly gamer aesthetic of it. Looking forward to hearing some of your recommendations and opinions! Looking for a laptop for gaming and college. Brazil but USA might also be ok. Bugdet ~1500. Posted: 10 Feb 2020 08:57 PM PST I'm going to college now so I thought it could be nice to get a laptop instead of taking the current desktop I have there and getting an upgrade on some new parts but I'm still somewhat worried about the price difference. So I was looking for a laptop for mostly gaming but also taking notes and running some programs i might use in college. I know the country doesn't help but it's where I live, getting something from the USA could be ok as I said because my uncle goes there form time to time and I could get it sent to his hotel or something but it be a little bit more troublesome. Shipping internationally isn't an option because import taxes + shipping cost more than the actual item usualy. Total budget and country of purchase: ~1500 us dollars, I can be a little flexible but my parents are already spending a lot of money on moving, new clothes, etc so I don't want to go too hard on them. As I said Brazil but could be USA. Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. As I'm taking it to college a kinda nice battery would be nice, but not necessary nor a priority. I mostly value price for performance, really. How important is weight and thinness to you? I just want it to be carriable in a backpack. Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows, actually linux could be nice too but don't care about it, I don't care much myself. Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/A. Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Mostly gaming, as said above. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? I play lots of stuff, from League of Legends and Stardew Valley to AC:Odyssey and The Witcher, so I woud like something that could run those at least on high or better. I'm also really looking forward to playing Cyberpunk so that and other AAA on high too. I'd say FPSs at least 60, but the highter the better. Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Nothing really. Perhaps some RGB for the extra sweetness, but absolutely not a priority. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I know I'm asking for a lot but if there is something like I want around the price that I want it would be great. If not, just say that i shoud get new parts for my pc instead, Im looking for a ryzen 5 3600 and a RTX 2070 super. Thanks anyways. [link] [comments] |
