How are the "draw movements" type of games called? (and which ones do you recommend?)

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 08:57 PM PST

Some examples of this kinds of games are:

    Door Kickers

    Planes Control, Airport Control

    Score Hero

Id love for a similar game to Door Kickers, but really i just like the draw mechanic and for the life of me i dont know how its called...

4 Quick Tl;Dr Android Game Reviews / Recommendations (Episode 136)

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 01:19 AM PST

Happy Frida...wait, it's Wednesday already? I didn't get to post this weekly thread last Friday, so here it goes - with a bit of delay; my weekly summary of the 4 most interesting mobile games I played last week. Hope you'll enjoy :)

This week, I played a good range of interesting games from a lootbased top-down action RPG runner, to a PvP Tower Rush game set in the Magic the Gathering universe, an awesome roguelike action game by the developers of Mars: Mars, and a brand new competitive 3v3 team-based tank brawler!

Disagree with my opinion? Let's have a friendly discussion below.

New to these posts? Check out the first one from 136 weeks ago here.

The games are "ranked" somewhat subjectively from best to worst, so take the ranking for what it is.

    Let's get to the games:

Magic: ManaStrike [Game Size: 515 MB] (free)

Genre: Strategy / PvP / Tower Rush - Requires Online Access

    Orientation: Landscape

    Required Attention: Full

    tl;dr review:

Magic: ManaStrike is the official Magic the Gathering "Tower Rush" PvP game - so essentially a Clash Royale alternative. And this one takes a surprisingly interesting take on the genre.

The graphics look great, the UI is well-made, and in addition to normal units deployed onto the playing field, we also have a main hero to deploy, around which we can continue to deploy additional units - even far into the opponent's side of the playing field. This makes really strong pushes much easier, and helps make combat really intense.

We receive new free cards packs with units and gold after EVERY match won, and a $7 Battle Pass subscription allows us to unlock even more cards faster.

There is a cash shop allowing us to get in-game gold faster, which can be spent on buying individual cards that rotate daily, but the monetization overall seems more lightweight than in other mobile PvP games.

Pico Tanks [Game Size: 333 MB] (free)

Genre: Shooter / Tanks / PvP / Action - Requires online Access

    Orientation: Landscape

    Required Attention: Full

    tl;dr review:

Pico Tanks is a top-down 3 versus 3 tank battler with Control the Flag and a few other game-modes. And to my big surprise, even a focus on team-play, with certain weapons that can heal allies.

The controls work well, the levels are well-designed, and unlike many of the top-down tank shooters releasing lately, I actually had a lot of fun playing Pico Tanks.

Progression happens through unlocking blueprints for new tank parts, and subsequently leveling these up using in-game gold. This adds a stint of strategy to the game as it allows us to combine parts for unique tank setups.

With no ads, no energy system, and no waiting for lootboxes to open, the monetization follows the style of Supercell's Brawl Stars, which makes it feel more lightweight than most other tank shooters on mobile. Sadly, there's no limit on how many times a tank part can be upgraded, which makes some battles unbalanced.

Dash Quest Heroes [Total Game Size: 189 MB] (free)

Genre: RPG / Adventure / Endless - Requires Online Access

    Orientation: Portrait

    Required Attention: Full

    tl;dr review:

Dash Quest Heroes is an endless runner mixed with heavy RPG elements like loot, upgrades, abilities, epic boss battles, quests, and much more. It's a fun and casual experience that I really enjoyed playing.

The monetization is relatively light with incentivized ads to revive and to get a bonus reward, and then iAPs for premium currency, which can be spent on buying additional entries to raids and dungeons.

The only thing I dislike is that it isn't entirely clear when we'll have to watch an ad to receive a reward. Apart from that; a fun and unique game overall.

YouTube First Impressions / Review: Here

Once Upon a Tower [Total Game Size: 220 MB] (free)

Genre: Action / Roguelite - Offline Playable

    Orientation: Portrait

    Required Attention: Full

    tl;dr review:

Once Upon a Tower by "Mars: Mars" indie developer Pompelo Games has us take on the role of a princess working her way down from the top of a dragon-protected tower filled with goblins and spiders standing in our way.

Between each floor of the tower, we can buy one of 3 random temporary power-ups, much like in many roguelites, and progression is overall handled through unlocking new princesses, which are purely cosmetics.

The game's atmosphere is well-executed, with lots of attention to detail, and the gameplay "feel" is great. But don't be fooled; despite what it might look like, Once Upon a Tower is not an endless game - it CAN be completed, although it's an incredibly challenging task to do so.

Monetization happens through iAPs to buy additional lives and incentivized ads for another life, but that's about it.

[DEV] I have been sleeping really late for a year just so I could work on my own personal game part time, and it's really taxing on my HP. But having a conversation like this with a fan really touched my heart. This is all worth it after all. Sleep early today & continue to improve my game tomorrow.

Dungeon Reels - Slay the Spire but with a slot machine

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 08:04 PM PST

Stumbled on this in the Play store recently and I'm very impressed by it. Basically, you start off with basic "reels" for your slot machine and every turn, you spin it to see what you can do. If you get swords, you hit stuff, shields block, but if you hit a Jackpot, 3 in a row, you get an extra effect as well. As you beat enemies, you will be able to add new reels with different effects, like poison, burning, time warp, etc.

If this all sounds familiar, it's because it looks and plays like an 8bit Slay the Spire, but with a slot machine. The map is even very similar, with random encounters, mystery rooms, rest stops, and all ending with a challenging boss.

It's very fun and the in-app purchases remove some ads or give you gems, which you use to unlock more reels into the mix. You can also earn gems by just playing.

[Request] Action RPGs that are more open ended

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 12:41 PM PST

    Hi everyone,

Are there any open ended action RPGs on android?

By open ended I mean games where you don't have to return to the menu after every mission or dungeon.

I just want a game that will flow naturally so it can be linear just not have short levels - exit to menu - short level, etc.

Sports Management Sim (or other detailed sim)

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 06:50 PM PST

Besides FM 2020 Mobile and Motorsports Manager, what are some excellent sports management games out for android? I'd prefer baseball, football, or American football - but I'm pretty open to other things. Heck, maybe not even sports sims. I'm looking for a deep, detailed sim that I can play 10 or 15 minutes at time. I've got some PlayStore credit from opinion surveys that I need to use before long.

    [REQUEST] Massive Map FPS

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 09:03 PM PST

At first my penchant for these types of games started with Section 8: Prejudice. I was amazed by the amount of mechanics that could be fit on a map, from vehicles to guns to the huge amount of players. When that died, I turned to Planetside 2 and was even more blown away by the scale of it, and how it enabled large scale tactics to be deployed.

I'm now currently computerless, and I've heard through the vine that Planetside 2 has turned into a steaming pile of turd. However, I've still got that itch I want to scratch.

I've tried Battle Royale style games but I find that the "roguelike" element of it just doesn't really stick with me. Is there anything in this genre for the mobile market? Something that has a persistent battlefield where I can always drop in and find action, but also allows character progression.

Features that I want to see:

    • Massive Multiplayer Map
    • Persistent character development
    • Respawn enabled when you die

Features that I don't want to see:

    • "Match" style sessions - games that only last until a winning team is decided

    Genre: Shooter/FPS

    Paid or Free: either

    Single or multiplayer: Multiplayer

    Playable offline: no

Looking for a game that can be played between two people, and left waiting while at work.

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 09:57 AM PST

Looking for good turned based games my friend and I can pass back and forth while at work. Can also be put down and left for 30-45 minutes if need be.

[request] need help finding a fast pace puzzle game i cant find anymore

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 07:32 PM PST

im going crazy trying to find it ive looked through my app list multiple times so im not sure if it got taken down or what, but its one of those fast paced action "puzzle" games, it was in 3D and you were dropping either cubes or fruit and i think once the fruit hit a cube, you could click on the string of cubes to clear them, the cool thing is that the whole playfield was in a circle/cylinder and there was tons of modes, and MAYBE the name had 3 words in it? for sure its an old game since i played it back in 2014 along with monsters ate my condo a lot

[REQUEST] I need help finding some game I played forever ago

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 05:56 PM PST

I found the game on the Amazon app store the game has you make your own character and equipment I think I remember that you could capture pets and stuff in the game and there was a dungeon just one dungeon that you would go into to get building blocks to create and add more stuff to your character and equipment to make them better, and also I remember there being a leaderboard and the building blocks had stats or something like that that made some better then the other ones I think.

What's your worst experience with mobile game support?

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 11:06 AM PST

Was playing a ton of Wizard Of Oz Match 3. Great game, graphics, but the support is insulting. Have had legit bugs where I lose actual money, support responds with "our records show that didn't happen".

[Request] Fantasy base building rpg/simulation type game

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 03:37 PM PST

Lately I've been playing Pathfinder: Kingmaker on PC, but some days I feel like I've got to much on the go to really play it. I was hoping someone knew a similar feeling game for mobile, preferably one I could sit down, play for 5 minutes, then set down. The type of game I could play over coffee breaks or when I have downtime at work and just pick and put down as time allows.

Not too picky about turn based or not, although turn based would probably work better.

Is there any way to disable back option when using a mouse and right click?

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 02:53 AM PST

Hi guys. I am using a bluetooth mouse on an Andriod Samsung Tab A 2019 tablet. I want to use it along with remote desktop for gaming. But right click triggers the back option and it exits the app. Is there any way to remap mouse clicks in Andriod? Or disable the back option?

    Thanks guys.
