The trouble with the sharpness of some programs

Hello everyone, who can tell me why some of the programs are blur? I attach the image just to show the difference between sharp doc and blur CodeBlocks (this is just an example, there are a lot of programs that are displayed this way)

    Windows 10 Home to Pro?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 03:01 PM PST

    Hi Reddit

    I have Windows 10 Home

I'm starting to learn about Azure and now I need Remote Desktop which isn't an available feature in Home, so I need Pro. Any ideas on how I can upgrade my version to Pro without doing a clean install?

    Thanks in advance

Use old windows 7 key on new pc

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 12:27 PM PST

So I'm building a new pc and I have an old windows 7 laptop from my dad. Since you were able to transfer windows 7 keys when you changed your motherboard, would I theoretically be able to use the old key on my new pc if I booted it using windows 7, activated it using the old key, and then upgraded to windows 10?

How to directly switch between virtual desktops?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 05:06 AM PST

I want to directly switch to a specific virtual desktop (for example: press windows + 3 => switch to virtual desktop number 3). As far as I know there is no shortcut already build into windows 10.

However I've read that it is possible to create a program to select a key combination to do exactly that.

What is the best way to do that? Which method? Which program?

Origin and Corsair iCue 100% crash on Windows 10 system shutdown

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 06:11 PM PST

    Hello,

I've been struggling with this since maybe the last major Windows 10 update:

I have to applications that *always* crash on Windows 10 system shutdown screen, the one that lists the apps preventing shutdown.

I've run memory tests, removed OC, reinstalled fresh and cannot seem to find out why this happens.

The dialog has a text like this:

The Instruction at 0x####### referenced memory at 0x#######. The memory could not be 'read'

    System specs:

    - 8700K / 32GB / 1080TI

    - Intel raid 0 ssd + nvme 970 + 4TB HDD ( I run a dynamic volume over the nvmes)

What I can think about is the system takes too little time to shutdown and cannot properly read / write, but can't confirm it.

Additionally, I run Primo cache to accelerate the 4TB HDD and Origin but not iCue sit on that drive.

If I manually close the two offending apps before shutting down, everything works as expected with no issues.

Any thoughts on where I should look to find the cause of these crashes? Thanks!

Question about Moving Files from Drives?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 12:05 PM PST

    Hello,

The files were moved from one drive (D) to a USB.

    My question is:

Are the moved files still written somewhere ON the original drive on Windows OS? At the time, this was Windows 8.
Would the files be recoverable, even though they were moved on to a USB?

    Thank you!

Wifi regularly drops but I tried everything

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 09:49 AM PST

    Hello,

I bought my PC in october 2019 and from the beginning, wifi regularly drops.

I tried completely reinstalling windows : no luck.

Disabling Host-Only Networking of VirtualBox : no luck.

Using an external wifi usb key instead of the internal wifi card : no luck.

Changing wifi provider : no luck.

If it is not the software, and not the wifi card, where can be the problem ? My head hurts, please help me :(

Have you ever seen a Windows computer with an OS older than XP be used in recent years?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 02:13 PM PST

It has to have been actually used. It doesn't count if it just sits in an old room and is never touched.

    Bluetooth headset keeps disconnecting

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 11:46 AM PST

A few days ago I got the Samsung Galaxy Buds, and they worked fine on my phone, however, I have problems connecting them to my desktop computer via Bluetooth. When I pair them with my pc they have no sound and also disconnect after a few seconds. I also tried pairing them to a laptop and this worked fine. Therefore I have concluded that there is something wrong with my desktop computer. Does anyone have the solution to this problem?

    Windows desktop switching

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 08:28 AM PST

Does anyone know how to stop windows 10 from automatically switching from one desktop to another. If I have an excel sheet open on say desktop 2 and while reading an email on desktop 4 I open a link to another spreadsheet it automatically opens it on 2. This happens with word documents as well. This in itself is annoying but what is even worse is that when the second excel spreadsheet or word document is closed out I then have to find my way back to the desktop I was working on. This isn't so bad if only using two different desktops but I can tend to have 4 or 5 going at once just to keep different accounts organized.
