Gmail app now says "Auto-Sync is Off. Tap to turn on" Posted: 25 Nov 2019 08:06 PM PST It's done this several times. Why is this? (I've not turned sync off.) [link] [comments] |
About 70% of my phone screen is black. Posted: 25 Nov 2019 12:09 PM PST About 20 minutes ago, most of my Samsung S7 screen turned black but still responsive, any way to fix it? It gets worse the higher my brightness is, I've tried resetting, powering it off for a while, and even cleared cache. I don't want to do a hard reset, but do I have to? [link] [comments] |
I dropped my Samsung A20 and... Posted: 25 Nov 2019 05:22 PM PST I dropped my Samsung A20 and now it won't turn on. I put it on the charger and left it alone to see if that would help, but it still won't turn on. It's in a good case so it shouldn't be broken. The screens not even cracked. What should I do? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Google Contacts Undo Changes - How long restoration process takes? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 07:29 PM PST Hi, My wife just recovered her stolen phone (within 2 days), but found all her google contacts missing in both phone and web. We used the undo changes button to roll back to an earlier date (a week in this case). It's already been 3 hours and nothing has appeared yet. If anyone had gone through the roll back process, it will be great if you can let us know how long it takes for the contacts to start showing up. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Nov 2019 06:58 PM PST I remembered a while back I deleted something from my phone but it was also deleted in Google Photos or maybe it was the other way around (deleting from Google Photos also deleted on my phone). How can I prevent this from happening? [link] [comments] |
Replacing Google Pixel Motherboard to Bypass FRP Posted: 25 Nov 2019 08:31 PM PST Story time so that hopefully no one thinks I stole a phone lol: My friend works retail and found a Google Pixel 1. The phone sat for quite literally a year and a half at his place of work waiting for the rightful owner to come get it. No luck. Since no one wanted it and no one was coming to pick it up, he decided to try to factory reset to use it for himself since there was no use in wasting a perfectly working* phone. Obviously this doesn't work due to FRP but he only found out when he told me about it since he knows I'm more tech savvy than him. Real question: Long story short I decided to take the phone apart partly for fun (since it's bricked if I can't fix it anyway) but the main thing I'm wondering is if replacing the motherboard will bypass FRP. I know there's some software methods like talkback or whatnot but like I said, I'm partly doing it for fun to tinker with hardware. If anyone could confirm my guess it would be greatly appreciated. Unlocking my phone with finger print scanner gives me a popup about a purchase having an error. Posted: 25 Nov 2019 04:39 PM PST I've been using my Samsung Note 9 for a year now and only last week did I consider getting Malware Bytes Premium since the horror story of Android based malware finally came true for a close friend. Ever since I bought the premium subscription I've been seeing a popup every so often when I unlock my phone with the finger print scanner, "This purchase can not be made at this time" or something along those lines, wish I screen capped it and if I see it again I will. I've checked my bank, no purchases have been made that I didn't do myself. The only other apps that I installed after getting MB Premium was an update for Call of Duty mobile (still haven't tried it), an update for Imgur, and a Tor Browser by The Tor Project from the Play Store which I haven't even used yet so I doubt it's some spooky deep web stuff. I've scanned my phone with MB multiple times and it's found nothing other than Google Play Protect somehow being disabled even though when I go to turn it on it says it's enabled. I also have Play Pass but that doesn't need renewed until mid December. It's always the play store styled pop up saying that a purchase has an error and can't be completed, I'm honestly scared that one day I'll unlock my phone with my fingerprint and my bank will text me to say some obscene amount of cash was spent on the Google Play Store and my balance is below zero again. Is there anything I should try to confirm if this is a virus? Malware Bytes isn't doing anything. If this is just some weird visual bug it's a pretty terrifying one that came too late for Halloween. Any input's appreciated, I'll try to screen cap it next time it pops up. Thanks to anyone who read this far. [link] [comments] |
"Security Update Needed" Dialog - How to Disable? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 06:13 PM PST Lately I've been getting a dialog box stating "Security Update Needed, your system is X days out of date". The box only has one option: "Download and Install". I can cancel out of the dialog by hitting back or switching apps. It's just an annoyance at the moment. My greater concern is it eventually not being avoidable. And before you say "just update", NO. I don't update anything until I have to refresh. Google has screwed the pooch on me too many times - updates invariably screw something up and then I spend days trouble shooting or resetting the phone. If anyone knows what process is presenting this dialog I'd be grateful. Essential Ph1, Nougat, Rooted (Magisk), and running Xposed/XPrivacy. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Nov 2019 05:23 AM PST I'm on an old HTC One with Lineage 9. My phone would spend 3 minutes being laggy every time I turned airplane off in the morning. Unusable. I finally decided to remove every app one by one. It was FB Messenger and the main Google app. I can live without them both! I loved the speed. But after a few weeks I've noticed the lag is coming back, altho not nearly as bad. Wiping cache does nothing. What can I do to really find out what's causing this? I don't have anything new installed. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Nov 2019 03:35 PM PST So I've been using Hangouts for years, and with RCS being released for messages, I've been thinking of moving off of it. However, there's a couple things I'm curious about... I use Google Voice (The Routing Number?) with Hangouts and like the fact I can text from Gmail. I also like the fact that my gmail archives all my conversations. I realize I can port my Google Voice number to be a real number, and there is Messages for the Web, but does it archive my chats as well? It's really nice to read back on old conversations or to be able to search for something down the road. [link] [comments] |
Is there any way to delay the system audio? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 03:22 PM PST Whenever I use a Bluetooth headset with my phone there is a slight audio delay. I cannot stand when the audio is off. It annoys me to no end. VLC has a feature to delay or make the audio go earlier. I have it at going 200 milliseconds early and that's good. But whenever I watch a YouTube video of play a video game the sound is still off. Is there anyway to do what VLC does just for the whole phone? [link] [comments] |
App to quick hide a running foreground app? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 01:48 PM PST Is there an app which can quickly hide a running foreground app? For example, you are running a game. And you want to "hide" it quickly. I imagine 3rd party app which has a floating button which if I press it, it will cover up the entire screen. This way, the game would still be running. Another press on the floating button location, the cover up will be removed. Anyone know such app? 😁 Thanks [link] [comments] |

Does anyone even make screen protectors that are not tempered glass anymore? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 01:07 PM PST I've put my conspiracy theory hat on, I believe that the only screen protectors that are made are all tempered glass, because they break easily and need to be replaced, unlike the plastic layer ones that last forever. Anywhere know where I can find a plastic layer protector for my new Pixel 4 XL? [link] [comments] |

Huawei Y550 stuck in a bootloop, it can't boot to recovery, but it can boot to fastboot mode. Posted: 25 Nov 2019 12:08 PM PST I've got a non-modified Huawei Y550 that refuses to boot up. After about 7 seconds of showing the boot logo it restarts itself and does the same again and again. When I try to boot into recovery it usually stays there for about a second, so that I just have time to move down in that menu by one item, but after that it restarts itself. Weirdly this is not the case with fastboot mode. The phone does not reboot itself when I boot it into that mode and it is even capable of being listed by the What could cause bootloops like this one in the first place if the phone has not been rooted or modified in any way? Is there a way to read a SIM externally? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 11:59 AM PST I have broken my SIM tray on my old phone. Not even a replacement tray could fix it since there is a shard of the tray embedded inside. However, I need it to read a sim in order to access old WhatsApp data. I still have the SIM card, so is it possible to use an external reader to temporarily replace the tray? [link] [comments] |

Outlook/MS office contacts not syncing Posted: 25 Nov 2019 10:26 AM PST Currently using a OnePlus 6 running Android 9/Oxygen OS 9.0.9. Been in the process of migrating from Gmail to Outlook and I'm running into an issue where only 16 of my 50 contacts sync to my device. I have the Outlook app installed on my phone with "sync contacts" enabled, however not all of my contacts are being downloaded to my phone, nor some changes being reflected via the desktop/web app. It seems that adding a contact to my phone will sometimes create a new contact entry on the web app, however I am at a loss for what the issue is. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
