Looking for <$900 computer for grad school and playing all the hours of Skyrim I missed on Mac [USA]

    Posted: 01 Aug 2019 07:57 PM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase:

    $900, USA

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.

best specifications for the money, and 2 in 1 form factor but that's not a deal breaker

    • How important is weight and thinness to you?

Very important, I feel the old 13" model of Macbook Air is probably about the size/weight I would want

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.

    Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

    13"

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

I might do a little photo editing, but it would just be simple stuff in Gimp. Maybe some InDesign, but that could be a big maybe.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

Mostly just want to be able to play another 1,000 hours of Skyrim on it. I've been on a Mac for the past few years, and that's what I miss. Otherwise pretty light stuff. I like a lot of platformers.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

Would like reliable build quality, would hope to keep it through the end of grad school in the next 5 years.

Like I mentioned before, I would like to plug in a second monitor

    256+gb SSD

Good keyboard is important. I've got papers to write.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

I've been looking at things like the Surface, but don't know if I like the price for what I get with the Surface. Right now I'm like the Eve V, but I'm a bit conflicted and want to hear if anyone has any good suggestions here before I would commit to that.

    Thanks!

About to go with a 2019 15" MacBook Pro, tell me why I'm dumb

    Posted: 01 Aug 2019 07:46 AM PDT

I shoot and edit video professionally. I am switching from a desktop to a laptop for my mental sanity, I hate being stuck in one place for such long periods of time.

I am going from a 27 inch iMac to a 15 inch laptop, 2.4GHz 8‑core 9th‑generation Intel Core i9 processor, Turbo Boost up to 5.0GHz Retina display with True Tone Touch Bar and Touch ID 32GB 2400MHz DDR4 memory Radeon Pro Vega 20 with 4GB of HBM2 memory 2TB SSD storage Four Thunderbolt 3 ports

I am about to spend $4500. What other laptops should I consider before making the leap??

    • Total budget and country of purchase: 5,000 , USA

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. I need good color and good battery life

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? I want a reliable machine over these qualities, but light and thin would be nice.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. I have Mac, open to switching for the right machine.

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Bigger is better, but there is such a thing as too big.

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Video Editing on a large scale

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? No.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Hopefully a keyboard that doesn't have a class action lawsuit against it.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I'll do my best to respond to comments, but I am looking for a straight forward kickass laptop I can use for my professional life.

    Durable Development Laptop

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 12:41 AM PDT

Total budget and country of purchase:

Absolute max 2000, 1500 is ok, less would be nice; Germany

Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.

Ability to upgrade, exchange parts in the future outranks fancy add ons.

How important is weight and thinness to you?

Not important, durability and good cooling are essential.

Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.

    Linux

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

15", 14" if it saves me hundreds.

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

Maybe little Civilization could be fun, but thats about it for gaming. Mainly the laptop will serve development and research purposes.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

    Gaming is not intended.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

Great keyboard/touchpad is a must, built quality super important, touch screen not needed, prefer privacy over fingerprint, optical drive not needed.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

Basically I am looking for an alternative to the 2015 MacBook Pro as it has this awesome built quality combined with high quality hardware, great input devices and a top notch display, still being not as bulky as Dell Precisions and such. My work laptop is the 15" MBP 2018. It is still a great laptop, but tbh I think apple fucked up once they took away the functional keys, the inputs and any chance to open the thing to be at least able to exchange RAM and HD.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? I don't mind heavy, but obviously if two computers were presented with the same specs but one was significantly lighter I would choose it. Who wouldn't?

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. I haven't used an actual computer in 7 years so I'm game to learn any OS.

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 14"-15.6"

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Build build build. Good keyboard. I'll be doing a lot of typing. I plan to mainly use a mouse so a stellar touchpad isn't necessary but it is helpful.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I'm not willing to consider anything without an SSD. I've got champagne taste on a beer budget - I bought a 15" HP Spectre a couple weeks ago and felt so guilty spending that much that I took it back to best buy two days later and didn't even open it.

*I'd even be willing to consider refurb computers if they had some kind of warranty/guarantee.

Please help me stop from going insane looking at computers haha

Suggest me, a law student, a laptop within 60k INR

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 03:58 AM PDT

I currently own an HP 15-BA001AX 15.6-inch Laptop (AMD A8-7410/4GB/1TB/Windows 10 Home/2GB Graphics) and every time I have multiple tabs (read 100+ across multiple windows) necessary for research, it hangs and/or crashes, causing huge problems during submissions. Kindly help with suggesting me a new laptop, with a fast processor. I am a medium-intensity user, no gaming, prefer a backlit keyboard and a good battery life. Side note, do I even need a new laptop? Is there any way I can get this one to work at optimum speed, given that it's nearly 3 years old.

Is an used Toshiba X30-D a good deal for $300?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 02:43 AM PDT

I'm now using a Toshiba Z30 from cca 2014, but I killed the keyboard with a cup of tea. It's only 1.2kg. My wife's 2018 Dell Latitude 4790 is heavier. Toshibas as lightweight, have good battery life, but are not advertised at all, that's why people sell them for cheap. My budget is $300. Need a lightweight laptop for work (mail and office only). It's only 1kg. It's got a i7-7200u, 8gb ram, 256gb Samsung Evo 960, USB-C charging and Thunderbolt 3. Is there any other better option for this money? HP Pavilion - 14-ce0504sa is the only option with USB-C charging I found on eBay for £300, but it doesn't have thunderbolt and it's 1.6kg.

Need a laptop for uni and can run csgo/lol smoothly

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 02:24 AM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: 1000-1200 AUD (700-800 USD) Australia

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Best specs for money, and okayish battery life (4-6 hours). Don't care about 2 in 1.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Prefer weight to be under 2.5kg (4 poundish), thinness is somewhat important but I'm willing to compromise.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15-15.6 Inches or bigger is fine.

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Gaming, will play very long hours of league of legends/CSGO.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? CSGO/LoL. I don't care playing in very low settings for a high FPS, although sometimes I might change the settings to medium, so at that setting ~80fps constant.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Reliable build quality, durable laptop that does not overheat in long hours of gameplay.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. All my past laptops can run LoL/CSGO fine but they have a problem of overheating and getting very hot after many hours of playing. As such, the battery dies kind of quick after a few months of very long hours of gaming sessions. I want a well-built somewhat light/thin durable laptop that has a good battery life. I don't care about playing other games other than LoL/CSGO. I really want a good laptop deal that is the best specification for my budget.

Looking for a laptop for higher end games to last for a few years

    Posted: 01 Aug 2019 09:56 PM PDT

    Budget <3000 STRONGLY pref <2500

I want a laptop for gaming that will last more than 2 years so I don't have to upgrade until I am out of college and in an apartment. I went too cheap with my current one and it still lasted a couple years but I couldn't play any AAA titles. I plan to catch up with games like Witcher 3 and Monster Hunter World for this new one so those games would be baseline. I'd like to play Cyberpunk and games like it when they come out over the next few years.

Right now I am looking at a couple laptops with similar stats, both priced at around 2800. I'd like to go cheaper but I care more about not having to upgrade later, an extra couple hundered now won't matter a few months from now:

    Processor: i5 4.7 Ghz

Graphics Card: 2070 RTX (I know a new line came out recently and i'd like one of the new graphics cards but I don't know many laptops out with them yet.)

    RAM: DDR3 16Gb

    Storage: 2Tb

SSD: no specifics, I just want one

Is this overpriced? I'm sure I can find better prebuilt ones but I don't want to skimp on anything. These stats are the ones I am looking for and I am willing to pay the price, but I wanted some information on the new RTX line and where I can find laptops with those (if they are out yet) and I won't turn down cheaper options. I'm pretty sure I can run the games mentioned above with these stats, but I am not certain. I've found my own experiences to be somewhat different to what the charts are online, especially on the websites selling the games or Pcs.

Pick or include any that apply. I want a light easy to carry design so I can take the laptop with me on the bike and has decent specifications. * How important is weight and thinness to you? I want the laptop to be thin and easy to carry so something like a macbook pro and razer blade design. * Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. I like both Windows and Mac OS but due to me wanting to play league of legends and more games windows might be the best option. * Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 13 to 15 inches would be ideal. * Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I am going to be gaming on this laptop and I play mainly league of legends, blade and soul and overwatch as I play demanding games on my main gaming desktop when at home * If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? I mainly want to play the games listed above and want to hit 60 FPS as a minimum and if the laptop has a 144Hz display then I want to hit that 144 FPS * Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I want the machine to be ridgid and be quite thin and light weight and want something like the Razer Blade either the stealth or the blade 15, whatever you guys think is better for me or even a macbook pro, even though I doubt it'll be able to play games other than league of legends* Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I play league all the time so obviously It can run on any potato but I want something that I will be proud/happy to be buying and something that looks quite stylish as well.

$900 to $1500 laptop for architecture school and gaming [Philippines]

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 01:21 AM PDT

Hi! I need a laptop that I can use for college and video games. It needs to be able to last at least four years (or more, hopefully). I have a desktop with an i5-4460 and 1050 ti (upgrading it is out of the question until I graduate, sadly) so I'd like my laptop to handle the stuff that might be too much for its older brother.

    • Total budget and country of purchase:
      • Philippines. Budget is still not set, could be as low as ₱50,OOO up to ₱75,000 (approximately $970 to $1460).
    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.
      • Best specifications for the money.
    • How important is weight and thinness to you?
      • I'll be commuting to and from my school. Lightness would be appreciated but not totally important.
    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.
      • Windows
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
      • 15.6 in
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
      • I'll be using programs like AutoCad, Revit, Sketchup, etc. as well as a little Photoshop and Illustrator. I'll also want to play AAA games with good graphics at a decent framerate within the foreseeable future.
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
      • It varies from the Sims 4 to Witcher 3, AC: Odyssey, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I don't worry about games not being a silky smooth >60 fps. I'm alright with making compromises, preferably going low around the time I'll be graduating.
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
      • Build quality, and perhaps a good heat management. Something that doesn't look too loud or "gamer-y" would be nice
    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

Like I said, aside from college, I'm planning to use my laptop to to handle games my old desktop cannot (hopefully not until in 1 or 3 years) so future-proofing is really important. I kinda have one shot at this so I want to make sure I comb all options.

I do apologize for the wide range, my budget hangs on several factors and it won't be finalized until later this month. Along with your suggestions, I actually have my eyes on the following laptops and your insight would be much appreciated!

    • Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54-53RN (Intel Core i5-9300H, GTX 1650, 1TB HDD, 4GB DDR4 -will be upgrading to 8GB) and Lenovo Ideapad L340-15IRH 81LK003MPH (Intel Core i5-9300H, GTX 1650, 1TB HDD, 8GB DDR4) both at ₱50,000/$970.
    • Similar models of the two above but with an i7-9750H at ₱60,000/$1,170 (Lenovo L340, with 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD), and ₱65,000/$1,270 (Acer Nitro 5).
    • Asus TUF Gaming FX505DU-AL004T (AMD R7 3750H, GTX 1660 ti, 256GB SSD + 1TB SSHD, 8GB RAM) at ₱72,000/$1,400
    • Acer Nitro 7 AN715-51-58X1 (Intel Core i5-9300H, GTX 1660, 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD, 4GB RAM -will be upgrading to 8GB) at ₱75,000/$1460

I've read that many of these laptops have problems with heating. How worried should I be? Prices here in the Philippines are crazy, and while I plan on waiting for holiday deals to hopefully afford the new Predator Helios 300, I might be forced to buy sooner if I end up really needing it.

Laptop for college and light gaming

    Posted: 01 Aug 2019 09:20 PM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: Max $1100 in USA

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Battery life (5+ hrs) and specifications

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Somewhat important although definitely not my priority

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Anything 15.6" or under is great

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Although not an avid gamer, I'd still love to be able to play Rocket League, Minecraft, Cuphead, and other online games with friends from home. I also may develop a hankering for Skyrim again. I want to leave the opportunity to experiment with photo and video editing open, but I don't know what software I'd use and I'd be a beginner, so I dont need anything hardcore.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Rocket League and Skyrim. Graphic settings can be fairly low, but higher FPS for RL would be ideal.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I don't need anything fancy. I just want it to be reliable and last as long as possible. My current Lenovo has been going strong for 7+ years. Keyboard feel is a factor for me, but definitely wouldn't make or break my decision. My current computer doesn't have a working mic either, so it'd be a nice change to have a laptop with one.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Thank you so much for the help! I greatly appreciate any suggestions.

    Laptop for a Teacher

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 12:23 AM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: $2000 AUD (Australia) which is roughly $1300 USD

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Good Battery Life

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Not overly but also not looking to lug a brick around

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows or Mac

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/A

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Variety of programs ranging from Photoshop to Word Documents - notoriously keep many programs/tabs open at once

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? N/A

    • Any specific requirements such as a good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Reliable build quality, low-temperature operations and most importantly a backlit screen that's easy to see

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. The laptop is for my mother, she's a full-time teacher who's upgrading from a 2014 Macbook, I feel she'd prefer to stick with what she knows (Mac) but she's willing to change to windows if that's what's best.

Any help would be much appreciated

Looking for a laptop under $2000 CAD for Eng Uni, will be used for programming CAD and note taking maybe light gaming[CAN]

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 12:19 AM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase:

$2000, would highly prefer if under $1500CAD Canada

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. I would like something with a really good battery while using it for basic tasks. Maybe 8-16 hours of word/chrome

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Would prefer a light laptop, currently own am Alienware 13 r2 and would love it if it lighter than this. Something in the form factor of macbook would be ideal

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows/Linux/mac

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Under 14"

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Will be using it for CAD and java programs. I would like to game but not a big deal as I have separate rigs for those

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? If it's not a 2in1 then touch is not required just a decent keyboard that could get the job done for 3-6 hours at a time.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I used to have a MacBook pro and the 13 r2 and would like something with the best of both worlds, the 13 r2 has excellent battery life while on light task and had amazing performance while plugged in. The rubberized body was really comfortable too. But it's heavy and a bit bulky. The mac has amazing battery life, thinness but for long period use it get a bit hot and unconformity.

Laptop for moving overseas: Video Conferencing, Gaming, durability. (US)

    Posted: 01 Aug 2019 10:58 PM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: $800-$1000 buying in USA, hoping to stay on the low end.

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Best specs for the money.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Not too big a deal, any laptop should fit in my messenger bag.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows 10

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Must be over 15 in. at least.

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Primarily will be used for video conferencing (a must) and gaming to keep in contact with family overseas.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Mostly Overwatch and low end games on Steam. Looking to keep it on high with 60fps, but if this is out of my budget I am ok taking a hit here.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Durability and video quality are my musts, this thing is going to be my home base and will also be coming with me to work. Battery life needs to be decent, just can't be awful.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I am used to my desktops performance, but having something that will run games smoothly is secondary to durability and video quality. Not trying to play things on ultra, but I am looking for quality and durability.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

[USA] Looking to purchase a laptop for low intensity use and longevity.

    Posted: 01 Aug 2019 06:27 PM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase:

    Around $1,000 in USA

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.

    Best specs

    • How important is weight and thinness to you?

Doesn't need to be too think or lightweight but would prefer 3lbs and under.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.

    Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

    14-15"

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

Nothing that intense. Some FL Studio and Ableton would be the most intense use for it. Other than for emailing and Office or Google Doc use.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

    N/A

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

    Most important:

    • Thunderbolt/USB 3.0 compatability. I have a home setup with a dock, two screens, keyboard, mouse for my work laptop already so would love to be able to use that.

    • HDMI Port

    • SSD 256 or higher

Other preferences: backlit keyboard, i5 processor, windows 10, 8GB RAM

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

I have a Lenovo T480S for work. Love it, but it's kinda pricey. Also would like something I can either find in a store near me or can order and get within a week.

    Thanks!

    US, 14inch, $1,200 - Alternatives to Thinkpads (T480s/T490/T495/P43s) that I should consider?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2019 05:23 PM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: US; $1,200

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Clamshell only (not a 2 in 1) with best specs for the money (some compromise for battery life is ideal); performance is the biggest concern but need reasonable battery life still.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Not that important; ideally it will be at least a little lighter than my current XPS15 9550 (~4 lbs) and not any heavier.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Linux

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 14 inches is ideal as overall footprint dimensions are pretty important to me. FHD/1080 as lowest resolution tolerable.

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

      • LOTS of photo editing (light editing, but large family/"side-gig" photo scan project(s) where I need to do minor corrections; lots of photo management over the next few years -DigiKam/XnviewMP/GIMP
      • Gaming (See below for more info)
      • Run several VM's concurrently often (for work and sometimes play) need to be able to run 32gb memory or more. If it doesn't come with it then it needs to have the ability for me to add up to.
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Mostly smaller indie and older if not classic games. Highest demanding might be AAA titles from a few years ago. My XPS15's 960m from 2016 served me mostly well; so something on par by today's standards should work fine.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

      • Good keyboard (with back light)
      • Up to 32gb Memory (at purchase or ability to upgrade)
      • USB C Power Charging - that supports Quickcharge and slow charging (from smaller ac adapters like a 30w charger when the laptop requires a 45/60watt one for full use and charge)
      • Less than 14 inch wide dimensions (current 14 inch models should be, but doubt any 15 inch models are)
      • Reliable build quality, at least better than average
      • User Replaceable Hard drive/Battery
    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Things I want, but aren't deal breakers. The more of them the better:

      • WQHD screen
      • Brighter than average screen
      • Non glossy or some kind of anti-glare
      • Good trackpad
      • Better than average sound
      • Thunderbolt 3
      • Ethernet port
      • USB A (along with required USB C) ports

This Envy X360 is suitable for my needs, it has a Vega 8 that can do a bit gaming, but I also read that this laptop tends to throttle just after a short period of intensive load and runs pretty hot, I read it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/9ib84e/hp_envy_x360_13_w_ryzen_mobile_2500u/

Any of you guys have bought this laptop can please give me a review
