Not exactly sure where to post this. Posted: 13 May 2019 06:06 PM PDT Not exactly windows related. This is the sound of my possibly malfunctioning hard drive. Does it sound OK or is it a bad drive. It is a relatively old PATA HHD. [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 May 2019 07:54 PM PDT So, today I found a "Secret panel", with various configurations like volume, screen orientation, projector... problem is: I have no idea what's the key combo for summoning that panel. does someone here know of such panel?(and the key combo for it) [link] [comments]
Outlook signature profile to filter through all preconfigured signatures? Posted: 13 May 2019 03:49 PM PDT Hi guys, I use the signatures function in Outlook to create lots of common FAQ emails, and love being able to right click over my signature, select the preformatted email, and send that customer a quick answer. But then my organisation changes the signature banner, and I have to copy and paste the basic signature profile itself into each of my 25 or so FAQ emails. Is there a way to create a basic Profile signature that can update and filter through to all my FAQ signature emails? [link] [comments]
What programs support Windows Hello? Posted: 13 May 2019 01:10 PM PDT I went out of my way to get a Windows Hello supported computer, and it's really nice for unlocking the computer. I generally use the webcam over the fingerprint. The problem is, the only other app I've seen that supports Windows Hello is Enpass. What other apps do you use that support it? I'm certain these are not an exhaustive list [link] [comments]
Windows 10 Updates opens a Help page! Posted: 13 May 2019 10:08 AM PDT I don't have my default Web Browser set to open when Windows starts, but I've been noticing over the last several months, (since I've had Win10), that every time Windows completes an Update and reboots or I start up the next day, my Browser automatically opens with the Windows Help Page displayed. The page just basically shows an Update FAQ, Whats Changed and Whats New. I was wondering, though if it's really necessary for Windows to do this and if there's a way you can stop it automatically doing and only pop up when you require it to? [link] [comments]

Anyone knows an image viewer app that can open gigantic image sizes? Posted: 13 May 2019 12:30 PM PDT I am trying to open the 25500*25500 image of 265000 galaxies taken by Hubble. The native image viewer app on windows is extremely slow. Is there any app that makes the loading much faster? [link] [comments]
How to change default directory for software settings? Posted: 13 May 2019 08:53 AM PDT When you modify various settings in some software (or especially often, games), these tend to store them in Documents, in various separate "own" directories. Which ends in Documents being cluttered by these. Is there any way to change that, so programs/games would store these (of course still in separate directories) somewhere else, e.g. in one dedicated directory one level below Documents? So e.g. instead of Documents/SomeGame/ it would be Documents/Settings/SomeGame? I'm using Windows 10 at the moment, but this actually bothered me since XP or 7. [link] [comments]
Help me please (changed motherboad, cpu, ram and i have problems activating) Posted: 13 May 2019 11:29 AM PDT Hi all, I bought my PC in 2014 with Windows 8.1 and I upgrade to Windows 10 when they gave them for free. My PC was broken from 2017 untill now that I bought new motherboard, cpu and ram. I went to activate them and I doesn't let me because apparently I do not have a license and it prompts me to buy new Windows. I click troubleshoot and then I do the method were you sign in and then you choose your linked accounts and still it doesn't let me activate and it tells me to try later. Well I do this for 2 days now so the later isn't working either. What should I do? Please help me, I am not giving any more money to Microsoft I already have one laptop and this PC with paid Windows. ffs [link] [comments]

C drive is pretty much full. Cannot install anything to D Drive. Please help! :( Posted: 13 May 2019 02:48 PM PDT So my C Drive is completely full now. I've looked up all the ways to redirect installations to the D Drive, but none work. All of the storage settings in my system settings say that all programs, applications, games, etc are directed to the D drive. But when I uninstalled and reinstalled my applications, they all went back to the C drive. I also can't move my program file folder into the D drive. Also, I do have administrator permissions to use the drive, so I didn't lock myself out of it either. Do I need to factory reset my machine? I really hope not. [link] [comments]

Posted: 13 May 2019 06:53 AM PDT Hi, I have an issue connecting to my vpn endpoint. I'm using the native VPN client in windows and I should be authenticated via a user certificate. However I'm getting the error "a certificate could not be found that an be used with this eap" Worth noting is that that certmgr.msc sees my smartcart certificate, but the vpn-connection seem to ignore that. Eventhough i've configured the client to use smart-card. Anyone experienced this? [link] [comments]
Windows 10 login forgotten password Posted: 13 May 2019 05:08 AM PDT I have an older surface tablet that I formatted to give to my parents. Started setting it up for them but thought maybe it was best I leave it to them to do so scrapped it and left it with them. They start it up and the profile is there asking for a password. My clue was "usual password" but none of my usual passwords work... Reset password asks for a drive/USB but then says its not a password reset disc. Is there anything I can do here? Edit: fixing typo [link] [comments]
