Long term storage of Laptop while at basic training Posted: 30 May 2019 01:11 PM PDT I have an early 2015 Macbook Pro that I will not be using for about 10 weeks while I'm at Basic Training. What is the best way for me to store the laptop so the battery doesn't degrade? I've read some articles that say full, some say 50%, some say take the battery out. So many different answers. I will also be having the laptop shipped down to me after I graduate basic training. What is the consensus on how to ship a laptop? I also have a RavPower 20,000mah portable battery that will need to be stored and shipped also. I appreciate you taking the time to read this! [link] [comments]
Best time/place to buy a thinkpad? Posted: 30 May 2019 12:08 PM PDT I'm looking at getting a 6th gen X1 Carbon this summer for college, and I was wondering two things. Should I buy off the Lenovo website, buy at a retail store, or try to track down a used one? Should I buy right now during the Lenovo memorial day sale or wait for a better deal? Asus TUF FX505dy vs Lenovo Legion y530 Posted: 30 May 2019 01:57 PM PDT Which one should i choose? Asus has RX650X and Ryzen 5 3550H. Lenovo has GTX 1050 and i5 8300H. What are the build quality on both? Will they last at least 5 years? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 May 2019 01:36 PM PDT I'm looking at the Hp Envy 13t the specs are as follows: Intel core i7 8565U processor Nvidia MX250 (2gb) graphics card 16gb ddr4 ram 256gb nvme ssd It costs $870 usd which can be reduced by 10% with ebates. I've been looking for an ultrabook for school for a while now and nothing has looked quite as good as this. I've googled reviews and watched videos but all of them seem to showcase an older model of the laptop, but I assume they're very similar. I am wondering if there's any catch to this price to performance value as I've looked at laptops with similar or worse specs that were $300+. I mainly want a laptop for school but I want to be able to do some light gaming on it as well (league of legends, small steam games, etc) and I draw as well so I was wondering if the screen has good enough color accuracy. Any advice is appreciated, thank you! Link for the laptop: https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-envy-laptop-13t-6vc06av-1 (The specs listed are from customizing the laptop) [link] [comments]
HP Pavilion 15-cs2105nl - Does it comes with a slot to access to ssd, ram and battery or? Posted: 30 May 2019 01:27 PM PDT Hi, I would like to know if the following hp pavilion comes with a slot on the bottom to easily access to the ssd and ram slots as well as the battery or if it is required to dissambly the entire bottom cover and, if so, how much complicated it would be and, can hp notice that I have opened it? https://support.hp.com/it-it/document/c06297219 Thanks! Posted: 30 May 2019 01:27 PM PDT What's your sweet spot for this CPU? I've got an Acer Predator Helios 500 with said CPU and am currently trying to find my sweet spot for the undervolt settings. Edit: I meant i9 8950HK [link] [comments]
Do lcd emit blue light like led Posted: 30 May 2019 09:35 AM PDT I want to get away from this blue light nonsense because it's harmful.A person said they use LCD and plasma tv rather then the new LED that are absolutely toxic and emit tons of blue light.I really like the old dell desktop screens that have a silky LCD screen not sure if they are plasma screens but it feels VINYL the light is not to strong on those and very comfortable on m eyes.I can't help but say they don't emit any blue light maybe white light but not BLUE. What's the best budget laptop for gaming? Posted: 30 May 2019 01:06 PM PDT My budget is 500-700€, not much for a laptop I know, but I just need a well around laptop to play with friends casually and enough I don't feel bad about myself and laptop. [link] [comments]
Need A Laptop For Coding, Video Editing and League Posted: 30 May 2019 12:05 PM PDT Right now I'm currently looking at the Alienware 17 with a 1070 card, 512gb ssd + 1 tb harddrive, 16 gigs ram and an i7 processor. Anyone with advice or better suggestions is much appreciated. Edit: Just noticed razerblade 15. Has lots of good reviews and I'm a bit interested in it as well. There is the regular and the advanced (which has a gtx 2060, kind of appealing). I don't know what to go with. Very lost on the matter. [link] [comments]
need advice for macbook air upgrade Posted: 30 May 2019 10:23 AM PDT My 2012 Macbook Air is going strong and is almost perfect, its one shortfall being it lacks any form of proper gaming power. I have been casually looking and found a second hand MSI GS65 Stealth 1060 in seemingly good condition for £750. back when i got my macbook air the criteria was to be lightweight and be able to run word and the internet at the same time. I have a few questions as im not as computer savvy as i would like to be.

Could Foldable Laptop be iPad Killer In The Future? Posted: 30 May 2019 08:23 AM PDT Hello everyone, you may know about the recently announced Foldable Laptop of Lenovo. So I came up with the idea of comparing it with iPad - the most popular tablet at the moment, to see is there any likelihood that it can replace tablet once it's officially released. This is my personal opinion. Hope I can hear other ideas from you guys! [link] [comments]
HP Spectre x360 15t touch (GeForce 1050 Ti- Max Q vs AMOLED) Posted: 30 May 2019 08:19 AM PDT Hey guys! Considering that HP Spectre it is, HP released a new AMOLED spectre recently and again that's another dilemma. The AMOLED version has MX150 2GB GDDR5 instead of 4GB GeForce 1050 Ti-max Q and everything else is same and AMOLED version costs 200$ less. So, is the jump from IPS to AMOLED worth the downgrade of 4GB 1050 Ti to 2GB MX150? Edit: Nvidia GeForce 1050Ti is hexacore while Amoled is quadcore [link] [comments]
Disabling dGPU to force use of iGPU for basic use (using eGPU for gaming) Posted: 30 May 2019 07:57 AM PDT I bought an HP Spectre x360 (ch000) and really had no need for the Vega M GL dGPU. I had a number of other reasons for getting that aren't relevant to this thread. I disabled the dGPU in Device Manager, because don't really need it running. I was hoping too, that by doing so, it would run less hot and less noisy since it would force it to use the iGPU (Intel UHD 630) for basically everything except gaming. Should disabling a dGPU cause a laptop to run cooler and less noisy in general under normal loads? I frankly don't notice much of a difference. Damn fan still constantly runs even with CPU at 46C. Posted: 30 May 2019 07:52 AM PDT Hi! I want to update the Ram of my laptop(Lenovo Ideapad 700-15ISK). I have already 8 Gb of Ram, but I want to put 8 more Gb so that the laptop will have 16GB Ram. Do I have to buy the same brand Ram plate as the first one or can I buy any Ram plate? [link] [comments]
