For college (Comp Science) laptop anywhere between 500 and 1100 USD, USA

**Total budget and country of purchase:*\* Upto 1100 USD

**Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.*\* Doesn't really matter. Preferably slim

**How important is weight and thinness to you?*\* Doesn't matter as long as I don't need to build muscles just to carry the fucking thing around

**Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.*\* Windows/Linux

**Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.*\* N/A

**Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.*\* For college, computer science. Very light gaming

**If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?*\* CSGO, whatever FPS.

**Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?*\* Not my top priority, but I would prefer the laptop to have good build and a nice keyboard. Touchscreen and FP reader etc are not required.

**Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.*\* Cannot get secondhand thinkpads where I live. A nice screen would also be a plus because I'll be watching movies and I regularly visit certain websites for.... scientific research. Don't need 1050ti or better. In face, I'm pretty sure CSGO should be able to run on integrated graphics. Hopefully shouldn't feel like plastic.

Best price to performance laptop for 700 USD

    Posted: 13 May 2019 06:44 PM PDT

    * **Total budget and country of purchase:**

US, 650- 750 USD (the 750 USD is as high as I am able to go, plus or minus $10 -$15)

    * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** I would like best specs for the money, and 5 or more hours of battery life on light load

    * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** The thinner the better, but Specs are more important to me. I would not like anything over 1 inch in thickness, though.

    * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows

    * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** 15.6 down to 14 inches

    * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** I was planning on using Blender, Fusion 360, Photoshop, Unity. Some light online gaming.

    * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** I really don't plan to be running more intensive games in the near future, but I want to be able to run nearly anything at above 30 FPS

    * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?** I would like it to have a dedicated graphics card, and I really do NOT want an optical drive. I would like to have a machine with minimal keyboard flex, and windows precision drivers. I am looking for something with both a 2.5 inch SATA drive bay and a m.2 or PCIE SSD slot. I would much rather have a new laptop than a used laptop, and need at least 2 USB 3.0 and a Displayport or HDMI connector, and consider user Upgradability very important. Thunderbolt 3 Would be nice, but is by no means a necessity.

    * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.** My current laptop is the HP ProBook 4530s, i3 2350m. I have replaced the Thermal compound, Swapped the HDD for a SSD, replaced the broken fan, and added a stick of RAM. The only further upgrades that are realistically possible is to upgrade the CPU, but that is not going to give much performance boost, or I could connect an external GPU through the ExpressCard Slot. I have 2 more years until college, so I would like this laptop to still be functional and fast in 4 years.

need a new laptop for gaming and general internet browsing.

    Posted: 14 May 2019 01:35 AM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: $600/$1000 usd

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Best specs for the money

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? it doesn't matter

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Biggest screen possible for the price.

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Nothing specific comes to mind at the moment. I tend to use my laptop for all purposes.

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Anything current of in the future, I'm looking to do max possible setting at 1080p with 60FPS. Is the Witcher 3 still the benchmark for a game with best graphics?

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Easy to change hard drive that doesn't require me to open up the whole thing. I got in over my head trying to change my hdd to a ssd on my current laptop which is like almost 5 to 6 years old and undid a lot of the ribbons that I can't put back into place which is why I'm here.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. If anyone knows a reliable laptop repair place that wont gouge the hell out of me in the NYC area, let me know. Would hate to have my laptop go to waste because my dumb ass disassembled it and can't put it back together.

Something light for taking notes, under $300.

    Posted: 13 May 2019 06:44 PM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase:

About $300 or less, purchasing in the continental US.

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.

Preferably 2-in-1 with good battery life. Performance is of least importance, as long as it can be used for basic schoolwork.

    • How important is weight and thinness to you?

    The smaller, the better.

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.

Windows is preferred, but not necessary.

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

    N/A

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

Nothing that requires significant power. Just Microsoft Office/LibreOffice and drawing.

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

    Touchscreen is a must.

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

I'm helping a friend shop for something to use for school. They want to spend as little as possible, and need something small and lightweight that can hold a charge for most of the day. They're an artist and would like something with a decent touchscreen so they have something to practice on when they're away from home.

I've suggested a refurbished Chromebook, but they want to know if we could get something running Windows for around the same price. It looks like we're pretty limited at this price range, but they want a second opinion.

Need a laptop for a Research Student

    Posted: 14 May 2019 12:03 AM PDT

Hey everyone, looking for a laptop that can meet my performance needs.

My current performance needs are lying within the high multi-tasking and high ram (Tabs for days as I'm working on many different projects and cross-referencing). On top of that, i have many excel, and word documents open simultaneously, also part of the cross-referencing.

I write A LOT, so a really good keyboard along with this laptop would be great, and if possible, the ability to flip it and draw on it would be incredible. I want something durable, and will last me, i don't game at all, just work, so i don't need a good graphics card.

SSD would be a necessity as i don't care about on-board space, just boot speed for the pc and programs.

Here's my request following the form format:

    * Total budget (In local currency) and country of purchase: < 700-1000 (CAD)
    * Are you open to refurbs/used?
No, I don't want to risk anything breaking down.

    * How would you prioritize form factor, build quality, performance, and battery life?

    1. Performance

    2. Form Factor

    3. Build Quality

    4. Battery Life

    * Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

More space to see excel documents, the better. Not entirely indifferent, but something too weighty is an issue.

    * Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

Chrome, but very many tabs at the same time (Chemist / Research student) Excel, Microsoft word, many documents and PDFs on at the same time Mainly a build that puts a preference on the operation speed, and ram size, video card doesnt matter at all. Also, SSD for booting up every program and the laptop itself.

    * Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

A touch screen would be great, especially if it can be drawn on to. I think this person im getting it for would get a lot of use out of it. If that's inconceivable, a really good keyboard is essential as this person is a writer, and does mainly writing.

    * Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

Needs to be able to multi-task optimally, boot the computer quickly, and be able to have a lot of tabs open in chrome simultaneously.

Hi guys thanks for taking the time to read and help out.

I need a new computer for work, everything is done over the cloud so I don't need to install any large software but I need it to be decent and reliable. I'd also love to be able to take it away when I travel for games movies etc

    • Total budget and country of purchase: AUD $500-$1500. Australia
    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Best specifications for the money, then battery honestly i cant see myself using the 2 in 1 feature
    • How important is weight and thinness to you? needs to be trasportable enough to take to multiple work sites but I've been lugging around a 17" behemoth up until now so weight is secondary to quality and value.
    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 13-14"
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. It would be amazing if it could run strat games like Civ and total war, I'm building a gaming desktop as my next project to prep for cyberpunk
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Not the highest priority but Total war, Elderscrolls games, what sort of thing
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? SSD, HDMIport, reliable build
    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. 1000-2000 USD, United States

Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.

Decent battery life to last me through classes. Can handle gaming

How important is weight and thinness to you?

Thin and light weight are very important to me as I will be carrying this around 24/7

Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.

    Windows 10

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

I will be an Engineering student if that helps any. I would like to run most triple A titles at 60 FPS

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

No specific games but I want access/ability to play new games.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

A good keyboard would be nice as I will be typing a lot.

All suggests are helpful. Thank you :)

    Asus Zenbook UX333, or other?

    Posted: 13 May 2019 10:01 PM PDT

I am thinking about buying a small 13'' or 14'' laptop for web development and machine learning engineering during public transit (train).
128GB SSD is sufficient, 8GB RAM is sufficient, i5 or i7 processor, great battery life needed. I would run my small machine learning datasets on the local GPU but would use cloud TPUs for large queries, so no need for a crazy gaming GPU.
The UX333 seems like a winner, but some reviews comments about the cramped keyboard not feeling natural.
The UX433 could be an option as well.
Some 14'' laptops are too large, the UX433 seems like the limit as it is the size of older 13''.
I saw a UX430 with i7 at 560 USD, and wonder if it would be worth it versus a UX333 with i5 at 820 USD.
Thanks for the help, see below for added info.

    Total budget: 1100 USD

    Country: Canada

Details: No touchscreen, very good battery life

    Weight and thickness: Not important

    OS: Windows and Linux

Screen size: 13 or 14 inches

Purpose: No CAD or gaming. Web development and web browsing.

Is there a Clevo P750TM1 sold without the graphics card?

    Posted: 13 May 2019 09:58 PM PDT

I've been looking for a music production laptop for a while and have finally found one that meets most of my criteria; however, I was hoping I could save on expense and power consumption by relying on the i9's iGPU since that's sufficient for my needs. Unfortunately, even a site I found that sells a barebones version still comes with the GPU included. Is there any way I can get a 15.6" system with an i9-9900k running integrated graphics?

    submitted by /u/plaidgnome13
    [link] [comments]

    70% study / note-taking/ stats. 20% music/video production. 10% gaming.

    Posted: 13 May 2019 09:41 PM PDT

Total budget and country of purchase:

    $2000 AUD - Australia

Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.

2-in-1 essential as I want to be able to take notes with a pen in tablet mode/form. Good battery is always a bonus.

How important is weight and thinness to you?

    Not very important

Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.

Windows. Switching from a 2016 Macbook Air because I'm not a fan of the MacOS workflow.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

    12.5" +

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

Will mostly be used for productivity (excel, word, outlook and onenote) and statistical analysis (SPSS), some light video editing (DaVinci resolve), music editing (Reaper DAW) and the occasional game (Warcraft 3 reforged/CivVI hopefully!)

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

Warcraft 3 reforged, CivVI, Heart of Iron - as close to 1080p 60fps as possible though I'm realistic about framerate probably being lower than that. Overall, gaming is a low priority compared to the productivity.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

Good digital pencil / note taking ability

    Reliable

    Good battery and keyboard preferred.

Least amount of bloatware where possible.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

So basically I'm aiming to replace my 2016 Macbook Air and 2018 iPad with one device for notetaking, word processing, stats and some light youtube/music production and light gaming. I've looked at the Lenovo Yoga c930 and really liked the way it has a pencil silo but it quite expensive ($2300+ AUD) and worse performance vs. competitors on the benchmarks I've read. The HP x360 spectre looked good but has a poor trackpad (wouldn't mind if it was average) and filled with bloatware. The base level surface book 2 looks good too but looks like it may be refreshed relatively soon and doesn't come with a pencil and not sure I like the hinge too much (not really a dealbreaker though). Any other suggestions?

    Good battery life

How important is weight and thinness to you?

not too picky in weight, as long as its around the 5 pounds/2.2kg area. don't mind thinness as long as its not very thick

Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.

    Windows

Do you have a preferred screen size?

    Either 14 or 15.6

A screen that isn't difficult to read in direct sunlight

Long lasting laptop that can run Linux <$1000

    Posted: 13 May 2019 06:19 PM PDT

I'm a CS major who is looking for a new laptop.

Form-Factor: Indifferent about fold-able or touch screen features. Should be light and fairly thin. Would prefer aluminum.

Screen: >13", LCD, Bright, Text looks good

Battery: Should be able to easily last a whole day. I'm looking for something that will last as long as a macbook pro.

Keyboard: Preferably backlit, good travel, and clicky. Avoiding macbooks due to recent keyboard issues.

Trackpad: Ideally would be glass, but most important thing is that it works well and support multigesture on linux distros like Ubuntu

    Specs: >=8GB, i5, >128GB SSD

Other: I really like the macbook pro build quality since there is very little flex, however, they are out of my budget and have a lot of issues on the recent releases. So I am looking for something that can provide a similar build. Also, would like the laptop to last at least 3-4 years without significant battery deterioration or slowdown.

I was considering the recent XPS 13, but I have read about a few people having issues with it, including battery bulge, which I dealt with before and would like to avoid.

    [EU] 1000€ Laptop | Portugal

    Posted: 13 May 2019 05:24 PM PDT

Total budget and country of purchase: 1000€, Portugal.

Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Decent battery life, good specifications. Don't care at all about 2 in 1.

How important is weight and thinness to you? Very much.

Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. I will use Windows. Can install it afterwards, though.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15.6" tops, but smaller than that if possible.

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Maybe some CAD, MATLAB, light gaming.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Rocket League, CS:GO. 60FPS is enough.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? No touchscreen, IPS screen and decent build quality at least.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I guess I would sacrifice light gaming in order to get a better deal for a laptop with Intel Graphics but with everything else I just mentioned.

    Gaming PC help (~$500-$1000 budget)

    Posted: 13 May 2019 03:05 PM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: About $500-$1000 in the U.S.
    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Best specs for the money, for gaming
    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Not super important
    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/A
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Gaming, not super high intensity, not really AAA but at least decent
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? An example of like the size of game I want to run is Slay the Spire, or Hollow Knight, wishfully 1080p 60fps
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Touchscreen would be cool, not necessary though, I would like it to be built nicely, fingerprint reader not at all necessary, keyboard should be pretty nice, optical drive also isn't necessary, and good input devices are necessary
    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Hey, I'm new to the PC gaming scene, and I was looking to get a gaming laptop that could be portable and compact but also at least decently powerful. I dont play a lot of AAA games, and the ones I do play I could just get on my PS4, so I was mostly looking for this to be something I could play smaller indie games on, stuff like Slay the Spire and the like. I was just wondering what laptops would be the best for that use, but still maintaining a cheaper pricetag

    High-end Laptop

    Posted: 13 May 2019 02:01 PM PDT

    Hi all!

    • * **Total budget and country of purchase:** max 60 000 Kč (2 600 USD), Czech republick
    • * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** I dont need the best battery, most gaming will be done home pluged in.
    • * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** It doesnt have to be light like air, I will mostly just carry it between home and to my friends.
    • * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows *
    • **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** For this kind of money I would like 17"
    • * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** Just amateur photo editing.
    • * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** GTA V, FO4, Skyrim, WoT, Civ VI, Mordhau, DOOM, Wolfenstein, Bannerlord ;) (and of course some classics like HoMM III, QfG) with best setting so it will look better than real life
    • * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?** I prefer full metal body, responsive keyboard, no touch-screen and yes I would like to be quite robust
    • * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.** Im currently using HP EliteBook 8760w (with 32GB RAM), I started using in the year 2013 and I dont feel any drop in performance CPU wise, what I lack is solid GPU as I cant run younger games than oblivion. What I love about this NTB and would like it to have in my new one is the robust full aluminium body, responsive keyboard and longlevity(?), thats why I want high-end ntb, so it will last me at least 5 more years with good gaming experience. I was looking into Lenovo Legion Y740 17" with 512GB SSD disk, but I read some reviews that said Lenovo cases wont last long. Some other reviews said that the new NVIDIA RTX aint that better than GTX (someone even said its little bit worse, performance wise).
Thanks for every recommendation because my head is already dizzy from all contradiction info I already read on net. And have a nice day!

US College Student ($800-1100 budget) looking for a gaming laptop to help me cope with summer loneliness as most of my friends went home

    Posted: 13 May 2019 08:58 AM PDT

    • Total budget and country of purchase: USA $800-1100

    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Best specifications for money most relevant

    • How important is weight and thinness to you? Not terribly important, I'd prefer something thats not a brick because I do bike most places but I'm more concerned with quality and price point than weight if it comes down to that

    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows

    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 14-17"

    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Pretty much gaming only; COD BO4 Witcher 3 GTA 5 Sekiro Far Cry 5

    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? All listed games at 60 FPS on medium to highest settings if possible GTA 5 Far Cry 5 Witcher 3 COD BO4 Newer games that come out

    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Good keyboard and an SSD would be preferred

    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I'm just a college student alone on campus for the summer and want a well performing laptop to help me cope with the fact that my roommates went home. I dont need anything super crazy, I jst want to be able to reliably run games on medium-high settings at 60 fps for extended periods of time without totally ruining my savings account. I know I said $800-1100 but if I can get what I want for less im not oppposed. I was doing a bit of my own research and was looking at either the Dell G7 15 or the Acer Predator Helios 300

Help with finding laptop for soon-to-be mechanical engineering younger brother

    Posted: 13 May 2019 01:28 PM PDT

I've recently been back and forth between this subreddit and r/buildmeapc for myself but now I'm looking for someone else. My brother is going into his first year of college and is starting early so we would appreciate some help with finding him a laptop. He's an incoming mechanical engineering student who games relatively often. His school has some specific minimum requirements for the laptop that I will include. Thanks in advance!

    • Total budget and country of purchase:
      • USA ~$3000
    • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.
      • No 2 in 1's and decent battery.
    • How important is weight and thinness to you?
      • Something he can easily get in and out of a book bag without much hassle.
    • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.
      • Windows 10
    • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
      • 15+"
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
      • No idea what programs his major will need but any that a mechanical engineering student may use, and gaming
    • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
      • Most of the latest games at high to ultra settings (COD: BO4, Assassin's Creed, Apex, Fifa 19)
    • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
      • Here are the requirements that his school has posted for engineering students so anything that matches these, but hopefully something that exceeds these requirements with the budget we have set
        • i7 Processor
          8 GB or Higher RAM
          DVD±RW
500 GB hard drive, 7200 RPM

          1 GB Ethernet Network Card,
          Category 5 Ethernet Cable, 802.11
          a/b/g/n wireless network card
          NVIDIA or ATI Video Card
          Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10
Anti-Virus Software, MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint
4-year on-site parts and labor warranty
    • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Upgrading my old Inspiron 7000

    Posted: 13 May 2019 12:45 PM PDT

My laptop is now about 2 and a half years old and I'm really beginning to notice especially when attempting to game.

I replaced the 8gb ssd with a 250gb ssd and added another 8gb of Ram for a total of 16gb when I first purchased it. That helped boost its performance but unfortunately this 960m graphics card seems to be very outdated now and that is something I am unable to replace.

I've been looking at a replacement laptop and these are standing out the most.

    https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GP63041-Leopard-041-Performance-i7-8750H/dp/B07C94K74F

Although, really the only upgrade this laptop has over my current one is the 1050ti card.

Should I pay a bit more and get something better with a new RTX card? I was hoping to spend around $1,000 but I can probably stretch my budget to around $1,400 if it's really worth it. Here are a few I found.

    https://www.amazon.com/Customize-PROSTAR-NH58EDQ-Display-i7-8750H/dp/B07Q4766NF/

    https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834271142

I currently use my laptop for everything. From doing homework to playing games like Gta V and WoW. I tried playing this Star Citizen game but was getting about 5 FPS on my current laptop. I have plans on getting a computer but that won't be until around December. So I'll be be required to do all of my computing on whatever laptop I choose until then.

I don't mind the laptop being heavier if that makes it cheaper. 144hz would be nice as well but not a necessity. And I was hoping for a RGB keyboard but it looks like all those laptops are $1,600+.

I'd just like to make sure I get something I won't regret. Thank you for any suggestions!
