Mi 9 owners wanted. Apparently it's more than just pure storage of 64 GB vs 128 GB

    Posted: 03 Apr 2019 02:20 PM PDT

Might be old news to some but to me it's fresh piece.

https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=925733&st=3720 Google chrome auto page translation or die but you can see that at least reading speeds of 128 GB version would get categorized as USF 2.1 while 64GB is in eMMC5.1 category. Twice as slow compared to 128 GB.

I would imagine that during camera encoding the speed would matter but in normal usage no idea, faster fetching so it would mater a lot?

So can one guy with a 64 GB version of Mi 9 run AndroBench and post results, and another guy with a 128GB do that as well to see the full image? Personally, 64 GB alone in memory would satisfy me but I don't know the limitations or if Xiaomi is tricking us with the wide use of USF 2.1 in their model.

Xiaomi Mi A2 bricked after March Security Update

    Posted: 03 Apr 2019 07:03 AM PDT

So I had no clue about the issues about this phone and security updates, but when I updated back in feb and jan, it appeared to brick but a few restarts got it up and running again. Now its pretty much bricked at the Android One screen and theres really nothing I can do anymore.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix it? Or what steps I can take to help repair it? I kind of assume that ill have to erase everything on it anyways so whatever, but what can I actually do now that its like this? Thank you for any help you can provide.

When is the MiMix 3 5G coming out?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2019 02:53 AM PDT

It was announced ages ago but still doesn't seem to be available?

(I don't actually care about using 5G just yet, but it's also going to have a bigger battery which was my only real reservation with the standard Mix 3.)

How to remove Mi Remote/flashlight screen from lockscreen swipe right on Mi9

    Posted: 03 Apr 2019 08:10 PM PDT

When I swipe right on my Mi9's lockscreen, it goes to this screen for the Mi Remote and flashlight controls. How do I disable that? I can't seem to find it in the settings. Thanks!

What do you use to switch data between SIMs? Any 1click options like a widget out there? On Mi A1.

    Posted: 03 Apr 2019 07:34 AM PDT

My use case is that I only want to use a secondary SIM for data just before a video call or when entering an area the primary doesn't have coverage. It's often enough in a day that I don't want to go through settings, network,SIM, and flick the data option to SIM2.

Redmi Note 7 case and screen protector?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2019 01:55 PM PDT

I just wanted to know if anyone has any particular recommendations in regards to cases or screen protectors (available in EU/Germany) for the Redmi Note 7.

I'd like a case that has some form of drop resistance and that gives a better grip to the phone. As well as a screen protector that covers the screen properly but doesn't clash with the case at the edges.

I looked around on Amazon and ebay but I can't find any cases that I would know the brand off to be sure about quality.

[Help] [Bug] Browser affecting phone UI - Causing phantom *back* command. Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite

    Posted: 03 Apr 2019 04:20 PM PDT

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My phone has had this issue once before, and it was resolved by a factory reset of the phone. It has been less than a month and the issue has returned.

I am getting phantom back commands, after backing out of any browser app. It does not make the phone vibrate, and there is no visual representation of hitting the circle back command on the phone.

The following are the scenarios that I have found the phone to be experiencing.

    1. Go to phone page three (right from main). Open chrome/firefox in main app tray, hit the circular back button to return to phone page three. 5 seconds later without input, phone will revert to home screen.
    2. Go to phone page one (left from main). Open chrome/firefox in shortcuts app tray, hit the circular back button to return to phone page one. 5 seconds later without input, phone will revert to home screen.
    3. Go to phone page three (right from main). Open chrome/firefox in main app tray, hit the circular back button to return to phone page three. Open app folder. 5 seconds later without input, phone will revert to phone page three (backing out of app folder).

1st time, factory reset fixed the problem but it returned.
    Fast reset did not fix.
    Hard reset did not fix.
It is greatly inhibiting a flawless phone experience when switching between browser and the phone and other apps.
First noticed the issue with chrome, then noticed it would affect firefox aswell. Noticed it would happen no matter where the app was initially started. It registers a back or home command without showing any indication of touch command.
It is only affecting my browser apps. When I back out of any other app, I do not have this issue. I do not have the issue when I force close a broswer through the app manager, only when I minimize the browser using the circular back button.
I do not recall a recent update that coincided with it starting. There are no updates available currently and I am running MIUI 10.2.2.0

To anyone willing to extend a helping hand in this matter, I would be so so beyond grateful. This is driving me absolutely mad.

edit 1: Does not happen when using DuckDuckGo Browser.

edit 2: So far, it affects Firefox, Chrome, Opera

Mi Air Purifier 2 shuts itself off

    Posted: 03 Apr 2019 03:38 PM PDT

I had been facing this problem for sometime now, can't seem to find a fix for it.

I have automation to turn it on at 8pm, then off at 10am the next day. However everytime I wake up before 10am the air purifier is already off. Checked the logs and there's no logs of it being turned off too.

    Mi MIX 2 audio jack

    Posted: 03 Apr 2019 03:26 PM PDT

I got this phone for a bday gift and while I like how fast it charges and how long it lasts, it 's annoying that i have to get a separate audio jack for this phone. I lost it yesteday, and now I can't listen to music :(. Is the audio jack unique to this model, or can I just buy any 3.5mm audio jack?

EDIT: I actually mean headphone jack.

What's the point of the 72h waiting time for unlocking the bootloader?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2019 03:04 PM PDT

I just got my Mi Mix 3 😍 and started the countdown.

The question is, why does Xiaomi do this? Why not allow the users to unlock straight away?

High SoC Temperatures SD 845 Mi Mix 3

    Posted: 03 Apr 2019 02:19 PM PDT

so according to JerryRigEverything Teardown of the Mix 3, there is thermal paste on the SoC to lower the temps, however according to Antutu and CPU-Z sensors my SD 845 reaches 40-45 ALOT during light use; almost at idle being 36-40C, as high as 50C a couple of times, and 45-47C average during gaming opposite to my previous Honor Play which topped out at 42C after like 2 games of Pubg and ranges from 30-35C normal light use.

my antutu scores aren't suffering though my average is 295,000. (a bit higher than other SD845 phones that aren't "gaming" phones)

is it normal for SD 845? since it boosts to 2.8 GHZ

is it xiaomi pushing the SoC a bit to gain an edge? more heat due to more sustained boost for example.

    faulty phone?

on the other side, my battery temps are low, like 28-30C idle, 30-32C light use and like 33-36C gaming & wirless charging

Do the Redmi Note 5 Pro CN/Global has GSI suport?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2019 01:40 PM PDT

I am Planning to buy Redmi Note 5 Pro AI DUAL CAMERA CN/Global 3/32GB (Launched with Oreo 8.0, MIUI 9) version. It has a powerful CPU SC-636 and the best custom Roms and Mods imo (and also in my budget).

Does it has GSI support by default, the one mentioned in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/b90yve/android_gsi_binaries_release_notes_android/ek1dib4/

GSI works only on devices with the following characteristics:

    They are unlocked.

    They have Treble support.

They were launched with Android 9 (API level 28) or higher.

Devices upgraded to Android 9 from an earlier version may or may not support GSI.

    https://developer.android.com/topic/generic-system-image https://developer.android.com/preview/gsi-release-notes

This Phone wasn't launched with Android 9 (API level 28). If it doesn't have GSI Flashing support by default, will flashing a Custom ROM enable me to flash GSI versions of Android Q, R & S builds without bugs (or little bugs).

Or should I wait for other Budget Xiaomi Phone release with this support.

My Strict Budget is 20,000 PKR (USD 140 approx) and a Used Redmi Note 5 Pro CN/Global version with 7 month warranty is available in my area.

My Plan is to buy a phone and then keep it for years to come.
