Deciding between MSI modern PS63 and Dell XPS 9570, factors influencing each below. Currency in AUD Posted: 01 Apr 2019 02:34 AM PDT Hi all, I'm from Aus. MSI costs $2000, with 16gb ram, 512 gb storage and a gtx 1050, not ti variant. However, the Dell for the equivalent AUD price only has 256gb ssd storage and no hdd, or 128gb ssd + 1tb hdd, a gtx 1050 ti and only 8gb or ram. i would be using this device for content creation, CAD, unity 3D and some light gaming. Which laptop suits better? [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Apr 2019 12:31 PM PDT So, I have an old laptop and I'm going to try and sell it. I know an okay amount about how much computer parts are worth, but I don't really know how much value something would lose if it was a laptop part, used, and an old generation. I want to get good money for it, but I don't want people to get ripped off. I would be great full if someone could give me a rough estimate of how much it's worth. Thanks! Here are the specs: Computer parts (HP Pavilion 15 Notebook) - Nvidia 840m 4096 MB DDR3 1026 MHz - Intel Core i7-5500U 2 cores 4 Logical Processors @ 2.4 GHz - 16 GB DDR3 RAM - Wi-Fi - Bluetooth - I/O: Ethernet, HDMI, 3 USB ports, SD card reader, DVD reader, Audio Jack - 1.79 TB 5400 RPM Hard Drive - Turkish Keyboard - European plug (can be plugged into anywhere with simple adapter) - I think it's a 2015 or 2016 model Also if this isn't the right sub for this it would be nice if you could refer me to the right one. Gaming - wait for Price drop on GTX 1070 laptops? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 06:30 AM PDT Hi, I am looking to upgrade my gaming laptop in the next couple months since my current one only has 2GB VRAM. Where I live, the GTX 1060 laptops currently cost around 1200€ and the GTX 1070 laptops cost around 1800€-2000€ which I find very expensive. I was planning to buy the laptop around July-August. What should I go for? My budget is around 1400€. [link] [comments]

Is £1600 a good price for these specs? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 12:08 PM PDT After a gaming laptop that can also handle some coding and image analysis (not playing new AAA titles, but would ideally like to run Subnautica, Skyrim and Witcher series at 1080p max settings). Laptop is: 15.6" ASUS ROG ZEPHYRUS M GM501GS-EI004T, 144Hz FHD G-SYNC, i7-8750H, 16GB DDR4, 512GB SSD+1TB SSHD, 8GB GTX 1070, Win10 Price is £1600 from reputable UK computer shop, comes bundled with Fortnite and a couple other titles. Thoughts and alternative ideas welcome. Been put off Aero 15x and Msi Gs65 from what I've heard of reliability and build quality. [link] [comments]

Best buy or Walmart is likely going to be the purchase location however it's not set in stone to be picked up in person. He doesnt need tons of internal storage now but would like it to be upgradeable in the future. We will be ordering one this weekend so that kinda the dead line. I've got one I'm looking at the Lenovo 130-15AST that at least comes with a 128gb SSD however I'm unsure if that's upgradeable. Thanks! I'll keep searching around myself after work. Ultracheap laptop? Just for college Posted: 01 Apr 2019 11:23 AM PDT I need to buy a new laptop, I have a HP Pavilion from 2011, and I want to buy something new, but I need it just for watch videos, use Excel or Word and things like that... thanks lads :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Apr 2019 03:49 AM PDT Hi, I already have a decent desktop, but i must leave home for at least 3 months. After looking for laptops for a while i've found 2 laptops that seem ok to me. *HP Pavilion 15-BC450NS Intel Core i5-8300H/8GB/1TB+128GB SSD/GTX 1050/15.6" --> 649 € They both have similar specs but not price, how can it be? which one would you choose? Dell G5 i5 or i7 for architecture softwares? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 11:12 AM PDT I'm an architecture student who requires a laptop with good graphics to run a lot of softwares. I shortlisted my requirements and now have to choose between i5 or i7 in Dell G5 5587. I have a limited budget and need to know if buying an i7 is really worth it in terms of performance because I read online somewhere that an i5 with an upgraded RAM (8 GB to 16 GB) and SSD (128 GB to 256 GB) can handle heavy gaming and is only a little different from an i7. The i5 with upgrades still costs less than the i7. Requirements: Minimum 8 GB RAM 1 TB HDD + 256 GB SSD 15" 1080p Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 at least Within 1000$ my currency is pkr Any other laptop suggestions would be appreciated too

Posted: 01 Apr 2019 10:50 AM PDT Ay matees! I need a laptop for 8th grade. Will mostly work on, lightly, but maybe in the future a bit of stuff - don't add "very powerful" to the equation. Will probably buy refurb or brand new from a good seller on eBay cuz here everything is really overpriced and eBay is really cheap. Thinner the better, lighter the better. Was looking at the surface laptop 2, but now saw in buyer beware it's a no no. It's screen looks amazing, especially the 3:2, anything similar is greatly appreciated. My budget is like 1.2k-1.3k-ish for brand new and not from eBay, so like 700$-1k$ refurb/brand new eBay. 13"-15" is the sweet spot for the monitor. Thanks ya all! [link] [comments]
Is the X1 Carbon fast for everyday use with its U processor? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 06:59 AM PDT I had a flex 5 1570 and it could NOT hold 4k with its i7 8550U processor AT ALL..every time i would right click or open a folder.there was a small delay.not enough to make me actually wait but enough to make me feel like they too powerful a screen for too weak a processor. when i downgraded to 1080p it was snappier but still didn't feel like even close to lets say an i5 NON U processor. So i am worried if the x1 carbon with its 2k screen and i7 8550u will be snappy,or should i just put some more money and get the x1 extreme, even though i would love that 14 inch screen. 15 feels TOO large for me. I mainly will use the device for writing 5+ hours daily. Watching movies and tv shows at 1080p. And using google chrome with more than 5-6 tabs at a time. now i am running my lenovo flex at 720p so it can be snappy.. Also another problem i had with the flex was the moment i opened word or even wordpad which is lighter on the 4k resolution the fans would BLAST away immediately and the device would heat up. not excessively ,but enough to maintain the fan noise for quite a bit.forget opening a movie and browsing the web at the same time.disaster. so what would you suggest? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 10:39 AM PDT Hello all. I've built an entry level gaming desktop before and enjoyed it, but I'm looking to go with a laptop now. I have no idea what goes into upgrading your own laptop's parts, but if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Similarly, are there any models out there that allow for easier upgrading? [link] [comments]

Buy new/used or just fix & upgrade? Posted: 01 Apr 2019 09:01 AM PDT what i have: ASUS X555LA-HI71105L - 15.6" - Core i7 5500U - 6 GB RAM - 1 TB HDD https://www.cnet.com/products/asus-x555la-hi71105l-15-6-core-i7-5500u-6-gb-ram-1-tb-hdd/ the video output has failed and i now can only use it with external monitor (hdmi) What i'm looking to do with it, some video editing (not professionally), record and make digital music. (obvious web browsing and general use etc etc) my question is, should i find a motherboard and fix it and later on down the road upgrade (if possible) the processor & ram? or look for something new/used and dump what i have? Best Practice for Preserving Laptop Battery Posted: 01 Apr 2019 08:56 AM PDT Hello, My laptop has a non removable battery. I would like to preserve its health as much as possible. Is it good practice to stay plugged in as much as possible? [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Apr 2019 07:35 AM PDT Hey, using a MacBook Pro right now but I want to try a 2 in 1 and I'm a huge google fan. So I was thinking about selling my mac and iPad to get a Pixel Slate instead but am not sure. I've seen some reviews saying it's there half way but most of the same people complain about very small insignificant things. So I am sort of getting the feeling it's a bit of "elitism" that pushes their negative thoughts on it. Would love generall discussion or someone who owns one to describe the usage of it in day to day activity. [link] [comments]
Recommendation on a new laptop Posted: 01 Apr 2019 07:14 AM PDT * **Total budget and country of purchase:** 1000 euro's, Netherlands * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** Good battery and best specifications * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** Quite important since I'll be traveling with it on the daily * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** 13 or 14 inches * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** light gaming like The Binding of Isaac or Hollow Knight * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** Not necessarily * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?** Good keyboard, windows precision drivers for the trackpad * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.** I would really like USB-c charging so I can carry 1 cable around with me. Posted: 31 Mar 2019 06:27 PM PDT I just bought a dell G7 gaming laptop at bestbuy but I'm looking at them now online and seeing a difference in price, which of course is to be expected. But I've never made such a big purchase online. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of buying online vs. buying at best buy? The guy that helped me talked to me for a long time, helping me decide what to get, but was it worth the 300 dollars? [link] [comments]
