    Posted: 29 Apr 2019 10:11 AM PDT

I've pushed the 0.3.5.2 update for Þrir, my digital card game that's currently in open beta on Google Play. This update specifically introduces a (potential) tweak to the mechanic that drives how cards attack.

If you've previously tried the game, please update your install and let me know what you think of the change. If you've not tried the game before, please feel free to give it a try:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bpme.montefight

Again, I'd love to get your feedback.

[Request] A base building/strategy game that isn't a massive time sink

    Posted: 29 Apr 2019 11:45 AM PDT

By base building, I just mean a game where I progress by building and upgrading structures. That could be Medieval buildings or space stations, the theme doesn't really matter.

    Here are my requirement:

    1. It should NOT be a massive time sink. I want to play the game for 10 minutes per day at most and open it 5 times per day max. Most games require an hour or two to play for free. Screw that.

    2. The game should progress at least a little bit while I'm offline. Passively generating resources is a good example.

    3. Some depth and strategy would be ideal.

    4. I shouldn't lose progress by not playing. In Clash of Clans I can lose all of my resources if I don't log in and get attacked. I don't enjoy that sort of risk.

    Any games you'd like rated?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2019 09:06 PM PDT

Hey guys I know nimblethor kinda rules this platform for rating games.

However I would like to know from you guys if there were any games you personally love or hate or even made (yeah all you pesky Indie devs that we cannot seem to find) that you feel deserves some attention.

Well nows your chance, I'll be reviewing some more games here soon but figured I'd give the people the chance to get a game reviewed by someone who tries to be unbiased.

Thanks guys. As always happy gaming, Area51rebuilt

[DEV] What game should I build next?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2019 11:57 AM PDT

    Hi friends,

My current project is wrapping up as I've added in most of the planned features for the game that I am currently working on, and its been live in production for about a month now. This community has been so supportive with that particular project, I wanted to get your opinions on some ideas I'm throwing around as that project wraps up and I start planning my new project. My next project will be much more ambitious, so I need to start planning now before I just jump in. Now that my previous game is moving more into "support" mode. The purpose of this post (and I did get permission from the moderators to post this question) is not to self promote the previous project, so please refrain from discussion of the previous game. I am posting it here for reference so that you'll have an idea of the "style" of game in case you weren't familiar with my recent project (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xksoftware.johnonfire), expect the new game to re-use a similar art style and aspects of the gameplay.

I'm keeping the titles and descriptions purposely vague, as I don't want to spoil too much about what I have planned with each idea, but I have some fun routes i want to go with each potential story. Without further ado, here are the ideas I'm tossing around.

All of these choices will be single player, offline, no microtransaction games. I plan on monetizing these ones differently than John On Fire (which was a free game with IAP to unlock bonus content). This strategy hasn't worked well as its only made to date $74.97 with about $400 invested. Its only been live for one month, but at this point it might take a few more months to break even. I think people see the IAP and ads banner and just avoid the game, so I'm going to do try something different this time around.

Other devs have recommended that I adopt a No IAPs, No Ads approach, which I think is the preference of most people in this subreddit. In this sense, my next set of games will include a more "traditional" monetization strategy since I think people were avoiding my previous games like the plague when they see "Contains IAPs | Contains Ads" lol (even though it was a single one time IAP).

Zombie Survival Game (Estimated Release date would be 2+ years away)

If I go with this idea, I want it to work uniquely from the current zombie survival stuff that is out there. I know the "SAS Zombie Assault" series is really popular on this subreddit (and I myself personally really enjoyed those games), but I don't think I want it to end up being another flavor of that type of game. Instead, I want it to focus more on the survival elements (think partly like "state of decay"), more about the exploration and resource gathering and less about the direct combat (although there will be plenty of that). I potentially may even want to implement it as a "base building" game, but the major differentiator between other base building games being that you have to scavenge to find the supplies to build up the base while going through the story. If I want to implement this as "my dream" zombie survival game. The "base" might even be an existing "small town" where the player helps build up the small town to defend against the hoards of zombies that start flowing in from the "big city" every night. If I'm ambitious enough, it could also have perhaps other small towns that the player can trade and ally with, or defend against and go to war with depending on the situation. It would be partly action / adventure, partly resource management, partly story driven, but with a bit of random event driven content that would make multiple play throughs feel unique. I have a ton of ideas for this, I don't think imagination would be the problem here, the main limiting factors would be my time and budget in the end. I'm not sure if the entire idea is feasible (its in the top 3 games that I want to build in my lifetime (the other 2 that I'd like to build I don't think I have the skill, talent, or resources yet to begin), but there would have to be a lot of demand for me to take this one on over one of the other ideas since they won't be as hard to build being a one man shop. I probably wouldn't be able to start working on it right away given the phase of life that I'm in, so I'm a little hesitant about starting a project of this size. Given the size and effort involved, I'd probably charge $9.99 for this game depending on what the end product feels like. I'd also be planning to release on multiple devices (PC, Consoles, as well as mobile).

The Mercenary (Estimated Production Release date would be ~1 year away)

This idea will be more story driven but will have some player choice driven mechanics. The story here will revolve around a former soldier, whose entire squad was killed in combat with him being the only survivor during his last tour. He'll conveniently learn that someone up above him will have purposely made a bad decision (probably because of a cover up or something like that) that put his squad in that situation in the first place. Upon being discharged, he'll become a mercenary, earning money by doing various jobs (Search and Rescue, asset recovery, protection, missions for the government where they aren't allowed to operate, etc) but all the while trying to uncover the identity of the person who was responsible for getting his squad killed at the beginning of the game. The focus here will be more on the individual character. There will probably be a leveling system and money from the various contracts will be used to upgrade guns and armor that will help progress the character through the main story. I'd probably charge $6.99 for this game.

Crazy Tower (Estimated Release date would be ~6 months away)

In a dystopian future, a former law man's family is taken from him and being held on the highest floor of "the tower". The law man must fight his way up the skyscraper, wiping out endless hoards of enemies. Gameplay will be similar to John On Fire except you will only be able to use the ammo that is left in a gun's magazine. I want this to be similar in concept to the old Madness interactive games. When a gun drops, you expend its ammo and throw it away. You can only carry say 4 guns at a time, so you are constantly picking up and dropping weapons. Focus will largely be on the gun play (and should be a big improvement from John On Fire). The game may even be 3rd person. Like John On Fire, it will be highly optimized for controller support. The goal will be to make it to the top of the tower to rescue the law man's family. I'd probably charge $4.99 for this game.

The President (~ 3 months away, would target a July 4th Release date)

Basically the survival mode from John on Fire but with a lot more polish and focus on gun play. I wanted to draw inspiration from the classic "Bush Shootout", but a lot more modern, and with a wide variety of deceased Presidents, "the classics" that hopefully wouldn't offend anyone (George Washington, Honest Abe, Teddy Roosevelt, etc) , instead of current Presidents (no-one presently alive or whose spouses are alive for legal reasons, but also because I don't want it to be at all political, just super, unapologetically, pro-American). The enemies will probably be just generic enemies of America reigning down on D.C. Only the President will be able to stop them. This one would be the easiest to implement. I may still do this one first simply because of the timing (a targeted July 4th release date I think would be very doable since most of the building blocks are already built in John On Fire), but also because its a chance for me to put more focus on refining the gun play of my games which the aforementioned 3 games would definitely benefit from. I'd probably charge $1.99 for this game (or less).

Let me know your thoughts, you can vote for your favorite idea here:

[REQUEST] Help finding a hack n slash kind of a game.

    Posted: 29 Apr 2019 12:46 PM PDT

I had installed a hack n slash game, I liked the animation and was hooked to it. I have been looking for it but unable to find it.

The character keeps running, I think we don't control the run of the character, we keep coming across different type of enemies on the way and as we kill the enemy the coins will automatically come back to the character. The setting is kind of cartoonish and not real, that's what I liked a lot about the game. We keep progressing on levels and he just keeps running.

I have been searching for two days. Unable to find it, maybe someone here has played it?

World War Heroes: Gameplay | Best mobile shooter game

What is the biggest (world size and/or time until full completion) rpg's for Android?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2019 06:08 AM PDT

I've seen lists comparing game world sizes and time until full completion for pc games... As a rpg fan (mainly of big, open-world, "endless" ones, like the Elder Scrolls series) I've been looking for similar lists for mobile games, but for some reason I can't find one decent list...

... So my very simple question is, what is the biggest rpg when it comes to world-size and/or time put into it until full completion?

For obvious reasons I'd like to exclude Minecraft!

LibGDX + Overlap2D How to correctly change screen size

    Posted: 29 Apr 2019 05:54 AM PDT

I am a novice of libgdx and wanting to make a simple graphical interface I soon found myself in difficulty due to the lack of a graphic editor. In the end I found Overlap2D on google, which I was able to include in my project and launch. However, I have two questions about this framework:

    1) Is it abandoned? Is it advisable to use it? or will it be abandoned soon?

    2) I created a simple screen with four images:

    https://imgur.com/XeJhIFP

if I increase the size of the screen, what happens is that the drops do not position themselves according to the four previous corners but remain where they are.

    https://imgur.com/fKoimNU

I'll post the code I wrote. How should i do?

    thank you so much

    package com.mygdx.game; import com.badlogic.gdx.ApplicationAdapter; import com.badlogic.gdx.Gdx; import com.badlogic.gdx.graphics.Camera; import com.badlogic.gdx.graphics.GL20; import com.badlogic.gdx.graphics.OrthographicCamera; import com.badlogic.gdx.graphics.PerspectiveCamera; import com.badlogic.gdx.utils.viewport.ExtendViewport; import com.badlogic.gdx.utils.viewport.FillViewport; import com.badlogic.gdx.utils.viewport.FitViewport; import com.badlogic.gdx.utils.viewport.StretchViewport; import com.badlogic.gdx.utils.viewport.Viewport; import com.uwsoft.editor.renderer.SceneLoader; import com.uwsoft.editor.renderer.resources.ResourceManager; public class MyGdxGame extends ApplicationAdapter { private SceneLoader sceneLoader; private ResourceManager rm; private Viewport viewport; private Camera camera; @Override public void create () { rm = new ResourceManager(); rm.initAllResources(); camera = new OrthographicCamera(); viewport = new ExtendViewport(480 , 800, camera); viewport.apply(); sceneLoader = new SceneLoader(rm); sceneLoader.loadScene("MainScene", viewport); } @Override public void render () { Gdx.gl.glClearColor(0, 0, 0, 1); Gdx.gl.glClear(GL20.GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT); camera.update(); sceneLoader.getEngine().update(Gdx.graphics.getDeltaTime()); } @Override public void resize(int width, int height) { viewport.update(width, height); }

I there a way to get lost game data?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2019 12:56 PM PDT

I played a game with a phone connected to my laptop through a charger, and apperently it was losing more energy than it was gaining so it just turned off without a warning. After I charged him and turned him on, when I opened the game, it started from the scratch as if I never played it and all my upgrades were gone(also I needed to upgrade google play services). I don't have a cloud save, so my question is can my data still be somewhere on the phone?

[Request] NSFW games that are not anime

    Posted: 29 Apr 2019 09:10 AM PDT

    Hello all,

Do you have suggestions on Android games, that are NSFW (I.E you need to seduce other characters, etc. ), but are not anime in the art style? I've tried Summertime Saga but it is still in alpha and not that finished yet, you are very limited.

Type of game can be point&click, Sims-like, anything as long as the gameplay is well done!

Thanks in advance for any good suggestion you might have :)
