[REQUEST] Searching for a game based on building a shelter, beefing it up, mastering skills, crafting items, defending, etc.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 08:58 PM PDT

... But with no "end", like... I don't want to go from wood shack to giant metropolis with a military and skyscrapers. I just want to make a shelter and make it better. Like, post-apocalypse type shit, you know? Preferably with some crafting, looting, etc etc... I don't know. A "survival, shelter building, start from scratch and make it kinda not scratch" type game.

You get what I'm saying? Is there anything like that?

I don't care for MineCraft... The premise is perfect, actually, but the gameplay itself is just... Eh.

Where are the Old Fashioned SIM games / building games

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 09:04 PM PDT

When I was younger (and had a lot more time to play computer games) my favorite genre was traditional city building games like the SIERRA series Caesar / Pharaoh / Zeus / Emperor), Pizza Tycoon, Sim Hospital and later on SIMS of course. Even though these types of games are still being made (the best and most recent example is the incredible FROSTPUNK. Games where what you build and where you place it matters, there's real skill involved and planning required and it's not just about waiting around or buying add ons which seems to be what most city building games on Android are.

Does anyone know any games that are more old fashioned. Don't have any in-app purchases but just let you build something from scratch? I hope i'm making sense here...

Why isn't there more key mapping apps for controllers or keyboards? I would seriously pay $60 for an actually good key mapping app that gets regular updates.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 05:05 PM PDT

Yeah yeah I know about Tincore and that malware China app "octopus", but where is a Google one? Samsung? Motorola? I'm using the Razer Phone 2 and Razer doesn't even have an app for key mapping hahaha. I'm assuming there aren't more apps out there due to legality issues or something similar. Blue Stacks on PC has an excellent key mapper btw. Just throwing this out there but if any of you are developers, I will personally AND happily pay you the price of a brand new console game if you developed a proper key mapping app 💪

Where can I find app price history?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 08:06 PM PDT

So there's a website for PC called steamdb that allows you to view price history for games. This is helpful to see if a sale is worth the wait or not. Is there a website like this for the Playstore?

How can I purchase and install a game that's "incompatible" with my phone?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 05:02 PM PDT

So I'm currently using a VPN to visit another countries google play store to buy a specific game. This game for some reason is incompatible with all my phones. Is there a way for me to still purchase and force install it?

Assistance with possible new phone choices.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 08:58 PM PDT

I am a bit out of the loop lately, and I am hoping someone can assist me in a decision.

It should be coming up soon that i can upgrade with AT&T from my note 8. The only question is, What phones are good for gaming that at&t offers? I have contemplated just buying the razer 2 but its a bit easier atm for me to pay monthly for the phone than it is to pay it off in full which razer does not offer.

    Much appreciated thanks guys.

I really like Gun Club 3, but the fact that they just stopped giving a damn about it really pisses me off... Is there any other game out there that has the same premise (basically, lots of guns to unlock, progression, customization), that is actually being updated?

Favorite games that aren't pay to win/really enjoy?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 12:33 PM PDT

What are your favorite games that don't have in-game purchases necessary for progressing/really enjoying the game? Optional purchases are fine, but I don't want to have to pay to progress in or really enjoy the game.

Is this game really worth the $8, does it have replayability or does it just not have an end? I don't want to finish the game, then just be out $8. Any help is appreciated.

[Request] Looking for lost first-person exploration/crafting RPG I used to play years ago

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 12:21 PM PDT

Man, I don't even know if this game exists anymore. Maybe the community can help me find it.

The game I'm looking for was a first-person RPG where you played as a pioneer exploring a newly discovered land. You could build your character along different lines by upgrading your skills and equipment. One of the cool things it had was blackpowder firearms instead of bows. The rifle was called an "arquebus". Your reload time and ability to sneak up, zoom in, and snipe were tied to skills you could buy when leveling up.

You could also fish & craft things with alchemy, like making blackpowder out of saltpeter for your firearms, or combining plants to get potions for healing or water breathing or bonus damage etc. IIRC most spell casting involved potions?

You could get experience bonuses by completing quests or achievements which were mostly generic, headshot 10 orcs, collect 50 of X flower, get Y bear skins. You also got XP for discovering new locations. The area you were allowed to explore was restricted by level.

Also there were randomized dungeons you could delve to get treasure like magic rings. The treasure seemed randomly generated. I remember getting a ring that let me swim underwater for like 2 minutes and it was RAD. Treasure caches were also scattered around the landscape.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? I played it extensively back in 2009 or so, and it seemed like it was in early development. I've wracked my brain and scoured the web but can't seem to find a trace of it. If you're a fan of these types of games it is a true gem.
