I hate all those sound my phone make. I really want to quit the mofo down. Is there a setting where I kill all those stupid notification sounds but allow those I want or do I have to go through my long list of apps and edit sound for each and every app and for each and every event?

How to format SSD with Windows 10

    Posted: 30 Apr 2019 04:50 AM PDT

Hello. I'm kind of new in this formatting, wiping the whole OS. I always had computers with pre loaded Windows. Now, I would like to know how to format a SSD that has 2 partitions. The first one has Windows 10, and the other partition nothing important. My desire is to have a clean install of Windows 10 and to merge both partitions into one unique volume.

Could any of you tell me step by step how to format and merge both partitions?

My Seagate external hard drive quit working while being used, but it is still partially recognized on the computer.

The model number of it is SRD00F1. It was plugged into a computer when it suddenly stopped working. Here are the really weird symptoms:

    • When it's plugged into a computer booting up, that computer's OS can't start. I've tried Dell and HP, Windows and Linux - the system doesn't get past the Dell/HP logo.
    • If plugged in after the OS has started, the computer will make the "USB device plugged in" dinging noise.
    • The drive is visible in the Device Manager menu, but not visible in the Disk Manager menu. It can also be seen when you open the little menu in the taskbar to eject drives, but if you eject it nothing happens.
    • The drive is getting power, obviously.
    • There is vibration.
    • There is clicking from the drive that comes in sets of 4 clicks, with each set of 4 being separated by perhaps half a second. Along with each set of 4 clicks the drive whirs twice (so each set has 4 clicks and 2 whirs, and each set is separated by about half a second). I'm not sure if all that is normal or not.
    • I have not updated my operating system recently, and the drive quit working while plugged in and being used, so I don't think that it would be related to an operating system update.
    • I last used the drive right when it quit working - I was downloading a file to the drive.
    • There is no light that is turned on.

I've tried changing the power cable but that did nothing.

Any suggestions of what I should try to do? I tried contacting Seagate, but they couldn't really help me (after some emails back-and-forth they wanted to call, but I figured that'd be more trouble than it was worth since nothing they suggested through email helped). If I don't get any suggestions here the next step is sending it in for recovery, I suppose. I tried Seagate's software to see if any files were recoverable, but the drive still didn't show up. Someone on another subreddit said, "The controller on the drive still functions and the motor which turns the spindles is still functioning. The heads would have to be replaced. This can only be done by a recovery firm." I guess if nothing here works that's the way to go!
