I have a few questions before I do it: Does installing magisk require a custom recovery, and if not does it even require an unlocked bootloader? If it requires an unlocked bootloader can I relock it after installing magisk? Will system updates be affected in any way after installing magisk or will I still receive OTAs as usual? | Posted: 30 Mar 2019 03:58 PM PDT TL;DR: Gave Note 9 without password to a repair center. They had access to the phone for about 15 mins. I understand they could've looked at and copied my data while they had the phone, but could they still have access to my phone and its data or can I use my phone as I normally would? This is quite possibly the stupidest thing I've done in my life. I have a Note 9 (bought unlocked, now on Boost Mobile) and the data wasn't working and it wasn't recognizing 5 Ghz Wi-Fi networks. I contacted Samsung, and they said I should take in to a repair shop, and they gave me the location of one next to me. I take in to the store, and the guy says they need to re flash the device. At this point, I'm basically having a full anxiety attack and I'm struggling to think correctly. I didn't know what was going on. I just wanted to get out of the social situation. So I hand over the phone to the guy, he prints me a receipt with some info on it and says to come back an hour later. I walk back to my car, sit for like 5 mins, calm down, and realize what I've done. I go back to the store, and ask for my phone back. He hands it over with a sticker on the back with my name on it. He tells me they haven't started the re flashing process. When I looked at the phone, it was on this web page (https://source.android.com/security/bulletin/). I checked the recent tabs, and this page was open on 4 different tabs, the 4 most recent ones. I have a lot of personal data on the phone (pics/ vids, documents, etc.). They had the phone for around 15 mins. Obviously, they could've looked at my photos, vids, etc. and copied them to another device. I've accepted that. But do I need to be worried about them still having access to my phone? Is there any way they could've accessed login information about my Google account or my phone? Thank you. | I got wifi issues with my S8. Please help. Posted: 30 Mar 2019 05:25 PM PDT So ever since I updated my s8 to the new One UI about 2 weeks ago, I ran into a slight problem. My wifi stopped working when I plugged in my phone to charge and it would stay like this until I restart my phone. I know that restarting my phone doesn't take long but I gets annoying if I have to do it multiple times a day. The moment I plug it in the small arrows beside the wifi logo start blinking. 1 disappears or both. Then I also noticed something weird. While all the apps weren' t working, the facebook app still works fine even when I'm charging my phone. I don't know if this is a software thing or some thing else. I've only had my s8 for about 1year and 3 month and I really take care off it, which is why I don't think that I accidentally broke something in the inside. I've tried all the remedies I've found in the internet. I've turned my wifi off and on, turned on airplane mode, forgot my wifi, reset network settings but nothing seems to work until I restart my phone. I cannot choose HW+ or HW decoder, it only lets me choose SW. I tried putting cpu clocks to 1 and checked 'use speedup tricks'. Is there anything i can do to get this to work? [link] [comments]  | ||

My sister has the exact same phone and asked me to help her update her phone. I tried it but it says latest update is installed. It's the same phone, what might be the problem? Only think comes to mind i bought mine months before her, but it is still the same model. Do you think it is possible for her phone to get the update in a couple of days or so? As I'm aware in the past you could set a sound for SMS and other notifications separately, and that what I did on my phone, but then they made that option unavailable, but I never changed either sound for a long time and now I want to change my SMS sound, but I don't have the option to do. I called them to get rid of that as I want to use my s7 as a media device and they told me to reset it but it's still there. | Need help locking my bootloader for my MIA2 Posted: 30 Mar 2019 11:38 AM PDT I recently unlocked the bootloader to try and install the hex kernel on my phone, but eventually i didn't. Now that the March security update is out i figured i would need to lock the bootloader to fix the issues i have. I tried locking it myself but it says that i can't check for corruption and is in a bootloop. So i had to unlock it again to fix it. Any help is appreciated [link] [comments]  | ||

| Certain apps do not show on the recent apps tab Posted: 30 Mar 2019 12:53 PM PDT My phone is an LG X Power (K220) running android 6.0.1, no root. Every so often, certain apps will start failing to show up on the recent apps tab. The affected apps seem to be entirely random each time but do seem to be the ones that I've been using for a good amount of time at that given moment. The only way to fix this is to force stop said app, but sometimes not even that is enough and I have to reset the phone. Running in safe mode does fix the problem but only because it doesnt let me run my downloaded apps to test for real. Do you know what could be causing this, and how to fix it? | Samsung S7 won't start even after trying Volume/Power buttons. Posted: 30 Mar 2019 10:14 AM PDT Hello, So I was on my phone this afternoon and while browsing Snapchat the screen froze for a solid minute, I tried to use the power button to shut it down but no buttons worked so I decided to use the volume down + power method to shut it down. Now I don't know if this was a mistake or not but now it won't start, no light indicator while charging, no reaction to the methods listed below. I do need my phone so I was wondering if it was dead or if anyone of you guys has had any issues like that or witnessed one. I do not have the money to repair it if it is too broken and have very little technical knowledge on the matter myself. Is the motherboard dead? Is there any computer software that would revive my phone? Here is the stuff I've tried: -Charging for 10 minutes (still charging, no led indicator) and btw, the phone was charging during its crash and the battery was at about 70% -Volume Up+ Home then Power button -Volume Down + Power button -Connecting it to my PC, but it's invisible -Taking out the SD and SIM card tray -Asking on Reddit Any ideas are welcome and would be greatly appreciated, thank you [link] [comments]  |
