Can hear self through headset when speaking into the mic. Posted: 28 Feb 2019 12:04 PM PST I can hear myself whenever I speak regardless of being in a call with somebody. I have tried using two different headsets using a USB adapter and the problem still persists. I have also tried unchecking "listen to this device" in sound settings with no luck as well as lowering my mic in the "level" tab. This is on a newly installed version of windows on a newly built PC I should mention. Any help would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Need help with SSD Performance: Search engines offer no help Posted: 01 Mar 2019 12:07 AM PST I wanna start out by saying it literally makes me angry that every single Google search about why an SSD is underperforming is about how they slow down with the more data stored on them, no matter what I search for. Anyways, my particular problem with my NAND SSD is that, recently, it has slowed down. It's barely over halfway full, also. But here's the catch: for some reason, it appears my HDD might be the issue, which is the problem I need help identifying. I've been using UserBenchmark for my testing, as this is the only one being inconsistent (CrystalDiskMark and Novabench give more sensible scores). The thing is, it has almost always been consistent until recently. My typical scores were 2000/1800 read/write speeds, but now, even with RAID enabled on my SSD, the scores are 750/1050 each. However, earlier today they were a healthier 1450/1900. The kicker is that this jump in performance was directly tied to my HDD suddenly underperforming as well (my SSD even gets better scores when my HDD isn't even connected). So what it is, I need a second opinion. Why is UserBenchmark suddenly scoring my drives poorly? Am I really really having an issue, or is this just UB acting up? [link] [comments] |

Any way to remove glued power cable from motherboard? Posted: 28 Feb 2019 04:53 AM PST My cpu power cable was a bit loose & caused several restarts. So I applied some glue & dried it before connecting. The extra layer of glue solved the issue. But when cleaning my cpu heatsink, the cable was pulled & then the problem was back. So I tried to do the same thing, but this time I can't remove the cable. My best guess is continuous heat caused the glue melt a bit & now it's stuck with the motherboard pin. Here's a pic Any idea how can I remove it from motherboard? Edit: The glue was superglue Edit1: I removed the outside glues. The problem is that superglue melted somehow (could be the continuous heat of cpu as it's right next to it) & the connectors got attached from the inside. [link] [comments] |
How do you fully wipe a PNY CS1311 SSD? Posted: 01 Mar 2019 04:33 AM PST I am selling a used computer with a PNY CS1311 SSD and not sure how to properly wipe it. Other SSD drive vendors have a toolbox app that has full wipe options but PNY does not as far as I can tell. I use DBAN to wipe mechanical drives but I don't think that is not the best way to wipe a SSD. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Mar 2019 04:30 AM PST I already changed the address and number in our 'contact us' section, but can't find the file for the footer you see on every page (probably is a different name for it). Additionally, is it possible for me to edit an .swf file without experience or paying for an application? Our downloadable brochure is in that file format and also has our old address and number. Any help appreciated, thank you guys. If there is like a video that could teach me the basics or a short course or something I would be interested as well for future reference, but it's probably much more complicated than that. I bought a GE antenna for my Hisense HD TV, but I'm not getting any channels Posted: 01 Mar 2019 04:16 AM PST I live in southeastern Wisconsin so I bought a GE Pro Bar HD 200 antenna with a 55 mile strength so I can get channels from Milwaukee and Chicago. I hooked up the antenna to my amplifier and then the amplifier to my Hisense 40H3E TV. I scanned for channels with both the Air and Cable settings, but I couldn't find any channels. I tried again without the amplifier and still nothing. Thank you in advance for any advice [link] [comments] |
I locked myself out of facebook. What should i do? Posted: 01 Mar 2019 04:12 AM PST About a year ago i had activated Two-Factor Aunthenticator in my facebook profile. That time whenever i logged in i used to get a code via text message from facebook on my phone. But few days ago i had uninstalled the facebook app from my mobile and when i reinstalled and tried to log into my account they asked me to fill in a code as per the rules of the two factor authenticator. It was written that i'd receive a code through text message. i waited long enough but i got no text message with a code. I pressed "resend code" in the log in menu but still i got no code. Now i'm locked out of my profile and i have no way to log in. What can i do to log into my account? P.S. I didn't change my phone number neither am i logged into my account on any other device. Help with Troubleshooting an Internet Connectivity Issue Posted: 28 Feb 2019 09:51 PM PST Hi, I have a Dell desktop computer with Windows 7 Home Premium Edition and somehow, up until last week, I cannot connect to the Internet and the wifi connectivity is automatically set to limited access every time I try to reboot it. I should also note that while I cannot connect to the Internet on that particular desktop PC, I am somehow able to connect via my laptop and my smartphone. Below are everything I had done thus far to get the Internet connection restored, along with my observations: -I am extremely certain that this connectivity issue is exclusive to this particular desktop computer I have. I know this, because my laptop and smartphone use the same wifi router and they both work perfectly fine, otherwise I wouldn't be able to write this post. -Upon booting, the computer never connects to the usual modem that it normally chooses, instead it automatically connects to another similar one that does not exist to my knowledge. -Whenever I tried to disconnect the computer from that other modem, I would try to connect it to the modem it is supposed to use. But somehow, the computer cannot connect to the modem and instead it automatically connects back to the non-existent one I mentioned earlier. -I have checked the computer for malware and I found nothing. Therefore, I can rule out malware. -I have noticed that the computer has been overworking itself despite the lack of any active programs. I have reasons to suspect that something else is running without my foreknowledge. -I tried to restart the the modem router at least three times and got no connection. -I tried to connect to the Internet with an Ethernet cable hooked onto the hard drive. Again, no connection. -I tried to turn off the firewall and tried to connect without out. Once again, no connection. -I tried to troubleshoot the connection problem it in the control panel and it wouldn't let me. -Also, whenever I reboot the computer, I keep getting "scripted diagnostics native host stopped working" popups. I have no idea what that means, but it's been showing up before of this happened. -Currently giving Defragment a go. It has been a whole week since I started that process, and I have no idea if that would even be enough. -I could try a system restore and bring the computer back to the original factory settings, but something tells me that would be going a little too far. Right now, I am still trying to figure out how to restore Internet connectivity to the desktop PC. If I am not being specific enough, I apologize. It is because I am not a expert with computers. But I will say this: I am running out of options and in need of help. If anybody here is interested, please let me know and I try my best to elaborate further if needed. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Mar 2019 03:44 AM PST Good afternoon all. This may have been answered 101 times on the forums so apologies for asking again if so. Im absolutely naive when it comes to tech talk, a lot of the solutions I've found just blind me with science, hence the reason I'm posting my own thread to explain my situation. We have recently upgraded our internet package with Sky to fibre broadband. The day before our live day we were at 44mb download which worked perfectly with a Lan cable. On the official day of our new broadband we had nothing. Just an amber light on our router. No connection at all. Last night the speeds fluctuated massively and kept disconnecting me from online games on my PS4 saying "Lan cable disconnected", even though when i go to my home screen, I'm still online, my friends list is active etc. This morning we are at 4mb download. A drop in 40mb. What am i paying for please? They are telling us that for 10days the speeds will fluctuate. I feel like they're pulling the wool over my eyes if I'm honest. That being said, before the upgrade my wifi (not lan) worked fine, no disconnections. If what they're saying is true, please just put my mind at rest. 😂 Thanks in advance for any response. External SSD drive suspiciously slow? Posted: 01 Mar 2019 03:42 AM PST Hey! I purchased an external SSD drive, the Samsung T5, because the thumbdrive I was using to launch some programs and media files was too slow for the task. The drive came with two cables (USB Type C to C and USB Type C to A). When I connect the drive to my laptop that has an internal SSD with the C-to-C cable, I get a speed of 400 mb/s approximately, which is great, but when I use the other cable on different computers with older hardware that doesn't have a USB-C port, read and write speeds tend to be as little as 30 mb/s, which is the same as the thumbdrive, making the purchase a little pointless, although I am charmed by its portability. I suppose the problem isn't with the drive but the PCs that I connect it with? When I use my laptop's bigger USB port I get around 150-200 mb/s. I'm somewhat ignorant when it comes to transfer speeds and hard drives, perhaps someone can clear this up for me why the speeds tend to be so different. Perhaps there's an issue with the C-to-A cable? [link] [comments] |
How do I recover files from a formatted hard drive? Posted: 28 Feb 2019 09:37 PM PST I accidentally formatted an external hard drive of mine that has a lot of files on it. It has photos, videos, audio files, etc. I used a software called Jihosoft to recover my files, but a lot of my files (mostly the photos) are blank and/or no longer recoverable. I also noticed that when I recovered the files, I didn't know what they were (apart from what file type they were) even when I checked their properties. I have also come to realise that because my video files and audio files are separated, I may have to somehow manually link them so that the audio works in the videos. I'm no expert in this, but the thought of having to do something like that is really stressing me out, especially if I don't know what the files are. So, I guess my real question is: is there a software that will recover my files in the same name and in the same condition as they were before I formatted them?* If not, is there some way that I can make this easier for myself? *This mostly applies to the video/audio files as (I hope) photos and documents should be easy to organise. Edit: added 'external hard drive'. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Mar 2019 03:24 AM PST hey reddit, im new on reddit and heard alot of people here are really helpfull (not all of them XD) ive heard about the toxic people but i can handle them (i play alot of csgo cyka blyat) im here on the USB reddit to ask a quick question (sorry for my bed english) i was going out to go to school and notice a USB laying on the ground i thought "nice i needed that" when i was on school i plugged in the computer to see if it was still working because it had rained for a couple of days it might be defect, to my suprise it was working! i saw it was empty but it still said there was a small amount of MB's on it (i know some usb have a little software on them but i couldt find that either) i also thought it might be blocked because of the school computer the content might be blocked when i came home i also seem to find nothing but its still there and i know its just a small amount but still it might be someone else usb with important stuff on it that he needs. here are some screenshots and a picture of the USB it self that might also helps! thanks alot in advance and i hope someone can help me, new redditer. picture of the usb i found picture of storage usb picture of inside usb storage [link] [comments] |
Can you allocate amount of disk usage when extracting files? Internet connection constantly restarting every minute or so. Posted: 01 Mar 2019 03:21 AM PST Hi everyone, first time post in this sub. I recently built my very first gaming PC and have it located in my room and am having a lot of trouble with maintaining a constant internet connection via an ethernet cable. From what I can see, every 45 seconds to a minute my connection drops out for 5 seconds then reconnects and repeats this cycle. My connection to get to my PC is very unorthodox and the only way I'm able to do so in my current living situation and the location of where I am as our internet is serviceable most of the time but never amazing so I'll try to describe it best I can. I'm on the Wireless NBN (Australians will know what this is) and naturally our connection goes through a router up one end of the house to where the only built in Ethernet port is. From there I have a wifi/powerline extension adaptor in the same room with another ethernet cable running to that which is connected to yet another wifi/powerline adaptor down in my room at the very opposite end of the house to which I have an Ethernet cable from the unit to my PC. I'm stumped on what's happening and I've tried changing the download speeds in the setting and even setting up a ping system every second to keep the connection alive but it keeps failing. Only occasionally does it decide it'll work for periods of time then it just goes back to the problem. Any advice would be appreciated, I don't know very much about computers or hardware and have mostly done research through google and youtube. Thanks in advance guys and gals! [link] [comments] |

My display driver stops responding randomly Posted: 01 Mar 2019 03:09 AM PST Hi, for some years already i had this problem where my computer would randomly crash, i asked for help on numerous forums, got a lot of answers but none ever fixed it, asked a professionnal who couldn't help me either. Now the problem has evolved and my computer's display driver will randomly stop functionning and on rare occasions it will crash. When my driver stops responding i wait some time (can go from 10 to 30/45 secs waiting) and it's recovered but some visual elements will be glitchy (it's not really to the point where i'm forced to reboot, but still it's noticeable on some softwares) When the driver stops functioning my screen will turn to a random color (could be totally black also, like the screen just shut down) striated from bottom to top in the same color but in a different shade. The issue in itself wouldn't be much if it didn't happen multiple times a day (from 2 if i'm lucky, to close to 10 on the worst days), also since i play videogames on this computer when this happens i have to totally restart some games when others have no problem, for my own luck recently i've only been playing games that crash or become glitchy after my driver stops responding. My config : cpu : AMD FX 6300 gpu : AMD R9 270X motherboard : M5A78L-M/USB3 2x4 gb ram corsair bronze 550 watt EVGA enormous case : zalman z11 I'd be really glad if i was finally done with this issue, it has made my gaming/working on pc incredibly insufferable. System restarting with no warning. Posted: 01 Mar 2019 03:09 AM PST So resently my computer has been running a little slower than usual. Not the main problem but might be useful. The main issue is that when turning on my pc if I'm lucky it will run normally for a while (about a few hours) but then will just turn off and restart like someone pulled the plug, once rebooted, after a few seconds it just instantly restarts again, as in turns off without warning then turns back on. Once it has done this once it just continues on and off about every second or so. All parts can be found here: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/NrwG4q So far I have tryed bridging the Cmos and removing the Gpu to see what it does. This did seem to stop the crashing at first but after a few hours the crashing and restarting began again. The system still goes into this restarting loop even with the Gpu taken out or moved to a different socket. I have also cleaned the cpu and applied new ternal paste thinking it might be overheating, but that didn't do anything either. Any help would be much appreciated. [link] [comments] |
