Shout out to Xiaomi for keeping call recorder in Miui 10 in Android Pie

    Posted: 24 Feb 2019 02:10 PM PST

Since Android Pie Call recorder apps aren't possible anymore and somehow Xiaomi found a way and kept this.

I just love this function. Had an Android One phone and since Pie I missed this function so much, but now with my new Xiaomi phone I have it back!

Is Xiaomi the only one that kept this on Pie?

    Posted: 24 Feb 2019 04:50 AM PST

Xiaomi Mi 9 Global version (6+64 GB) will cost 449 euros. Not bad. I thought it would be a little more expensive. What do you think about the price?

How long do you have to wait to unlock the bootloader on the Xiaomi Mi 8?

    Posted: 24 Feb 2019 08:26 PM PST

I'm considering purchasing a Xiaomi Mi 8 to put Pixel Experience on it. My questions are:

    • Do you still have to wait before unlocking the bootloader on the Xiaomi Mi 8?
    • How long do you have to wait?
    • Do you have to use the device while you wait or can you just turn it off and keep it in the box? I've read somewhere that if you're not using the device your unlock timer might get extended because Xiami thinks you're not an legitimate user.

What kind of prices to expect with Mi 8/9?

    Posted: 24 Feb 2019 08:19 PM PST

Im just about to the pull the trigger on either mi 9 or mi 8.

Does anyone have any idea what kind of realistic prices we can expect for the Mi 9? Currently at $780-850 (AUD) which I'm guessing is a launch price, is just out of my spend range.

That being said, mi 8 should go down in price, but it still seems it hasn't budged since the release of the Mi 8 $460-560(AUD).

    What do you guys think?

    r/Xiaomi Bi-Weekly Photography Thread

    Posted: 24 Feb 2019 03:57 PM PST

Welcome to r/Xiaomi's Bi-Weekly Photography Thread!

Please use this thread to share photos and videos taken with Xiaomi devices and discuss photography, including camera hardware and software (such as GCam ports). Photos and videos don't have to come from a Xiaomi phone, you can post anything taken with a Mi Ecosystem product, let it be a smartphone, drone or action camera. However, if you post something taken with a Xiaomi phone, please share your phone model, ROM, camera app and camera settings as well. In case of a GCam port, please also detail the app version.

Media about Xiaomi products, like unboxing photos or video reviews, don't fall into the category of photography and should be submitted individually, outside of this thread.

On Reddit Redesign, you can directly embed media in a comment but if you wouldn't like to rely on Reddit, you can use any other website, such as Imgur, Flickr or YouTube, just make sure to post a direct link to your content.

The bi-weekly thread will be unstickied and replaced by a new thread every second Monday at midnight (UTC).

Thanks for reading and happy sharing!

Pixel 3XL owner thinking of switching.

    Posted: 24 Feb 2019 06:39 PM PST

I have a Pixel 3XL and it's a great phone. Really I have no problems with it, but I do feel like I want something different. Something that when someone in the US sees it they go "The fuck is that?", but is also a solid smartphone. The Mi Mix 3 recently caught my eye because of it's unique slider mechanism, 93.4% screen-to-body ratio, long lasting battery, and surprisingly decent screen and camera. There's not many videos on it from the major tech reviewers compared to the more popular flagship phones and I'd like to learn more about it. Here are my questions, if you'd be so kind to answer them.

    1. What is your experience with the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3?
    2. If you live in the US, what area and how well does it work there?
    3. Is there a better Xiaomi phone I should be looking at with more to offer?
    4. Have you tried Gcam on the Mi Mix 3 or another Xiaomi phone?
    5. Have you flashed stock android on your Xiaomi or do you prefer MiUi?6.Have you owned both a pixel and a xiaomi phone and can give a good comparison?
    6. The features on my Pixel 3 that I would miss are Call Screening and first access to Android updates, but are there features the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 or other Xiaomi phones have that make up for not having those?
    7. Anything extra I should know>

    8. Where's the best place to buy one?

Buy MI 9 or wait for MI MIX 3 5G?

    Posted: 24 Feb 2019 10:01 AM PST

What are you guys planning on buying?

I like the in display fingerprint scanner on the MI 9 and the triple camera setup... It seems to me that its a better buy.

But the bezel less screen on the MIX 3 is awesome.

    13.3" AIR Charger

    Posted: 24 Feb 2019 04:01 PM PST

    Hey guys,

I know that this has been asked before but i didn't find any concrete answers.

Does anyone have any links for a better charger? (Preferably AU plug)

Theres one i've seen that has a USB-C PD45W and a USB 2.4A; which is what i want, because i don't want to have to carry around multiple adapters and my phone is a oneplus 6. Will this work to charge the laptop?

    Any options?

Thank you! Sorry for my lack of knowledge

In the last couple of weeks I noticed an anomaly battery drain caused by the Media service. After a quick search on Google the culprit seemed to be the SD card, but after almost a week without it and a factory reset I'm still having this annoying drains.

Xiaomi Mi A1 - Still didn't get February patch.

    Posted: 24 Feb 2019 09:23 AM PST

I heard it was out a few days ago, but I don't have it yet, wonder what's going on. Because the January patch on Pie is still somewhat buggy. Was hoping that Feb would fix things.

Xiaomi yi 4k or mijia 4k?

    Posted: 24 Feb 2019 02:12 PM PST

I want a budget action cam for some basic filming sports. No experience with filming and I want a kinda cheap action cam to see if I enjoy filming/editing.

What is a better choice, movie quality wise, the xiaomi 4k or the mijia 4k? (the xiaomi 4k plus is above my budget for my first action cam).

I want to buy a gimbal with it, I was looking at the DJI osmo mobile 2 or a xiaomi gimbal.

    Broken devices

    Posted: 24 Feb 2019 01:49 PM PST

I repair phones as a hobby and I'm wondering if anyone in the us has a damaged higher end xiaomi device. A mi 8, mix 2 or note 2 would be great. It doesn't matter how smashed it is as long as it seems fine in the software. I'll pay $100-$200 depending on how bad the damage is.
