Restarting my pc boots it up unlocked? Posted: 27 Feb 2019 05:15 PM PST If I were to hold the power button on my tower it would restart the computer and boot up completely unlocked. This allows anyone to just press the button and get full access to my computer. I have a password set to my computer but it only seems to work when I put it to sleep and come back later. How would i fix this? [link] [comments]
Installing Windows on New Hard Drive - Does Key Have to Be Same? Posted: 27 Feb 2019 03:07 PM PST To sum it up, I have Windows 10 installed on a hard drive ready to go - but the Windows key it asked for on install is for an old laptop that broke. Not the same Windows 10 key for the laptop I'm about to install it into. They're both Home editions. My question is does it make a difference? I've done it before and the only change I needed to make was the boot option. For the Windows 10 not installed on the laptop I needed to boot into UEFI instead of Legacy and vis versa. Recent update now has a "second screen" pop up taskbar? How can I get rid of it? Posted: 27 Feb 2019 08:15 PM PST After the recent update, I now get a taskbar that pops up while I'm connected to my second screen every single time I hover my mouse near the top of my primary screen, conveniently where all my open tabs are. Does anyone know how to disable this pop-up? [link] [comments]

Help. Win and browser(s) auto refresh + date and time auto text input. Posted: 27 Feb 2019 07:39 AM PST My Win10 PC is unusable. It's been happening for 3 days now. I boot up, and sometimes it's almost immediately, others times may take a little while, but sure enough it eventually starts auto refreshing the web browser (be it chrome, opera, edge), the taskbar or any window become unresponsive, and if I open notepad it will spew out timestamps in this format: 27-Feb-193:20, at the rate of about 4 a second. Reebooting is the only short lived way to make it stop. I did full scans for viruses, malware. Checked disks for errors. Made sure windows+all drivers are updated. I browsed around since auto refresh seems to be a common issue, and the solutions range from scanning disks to disabling certain appearance/theme settings, to actually what is my top search result which is, disabling windows error report :/ Thats the only one I haven't tried and that I'd really like to avoid :) Also would really like to avoid restore/rollbacks cause of the mountain of software Id have to reinstall. Anyone out there with some light on this? Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Feb 2019 11:59 AM PST I know it's kind of hard to find Mad Catz software and drivers anymore for those of us who still have old Mad Catz peripherals. I used to have a S.T.R.I.K.E. 7 keyboard and a R.A.T. 9 mouse, and I recently found my old drivers for them burried away in an old hard drive I was organizing. They should hopefully still work, so I just wanted to share the wealth. Here's a link to a .zip file in my Dropbox that has them all. [link] [comments]

Error mapping folder with different user Posted: 27 Feb 2019 09:51 AM PST Hi, Today I have created a folder on my file server, created a new user on AD, set the shared permissions and NTFS permissions so that new user can access the folder. And when I tried to map it on my computer, this error shown up: "The network folder specified is currently mapped using a different user name and password" I have never seen that error in my entire life lol Checking on the web I found this link: Using IP address or FQDB works, but using the NETBIOS name don't. My file server has some folders shared like this: \\srvad01\Files \\srvad01\Software \\srvad01\Videos \\srvad01\Temp And the folder I created was something like this: \\srvad01\project The only difference is that the first ones are mapped using a VBS file (logon script) and use the same user credentials (the user that is logged on at the moment). I've tried on different computers... Am I crazy or this isn't suppose to work the way I want? [link] [comments]

Windows program to automatically reset computer Posted: 27 Feb 2019 12:05 PM PST I work at a hotel. We have a business center with computers running windows 10. I am looking for a program that will automatically wipe the computer of all user activity after a certain period of inactivity. We currently have Deep Freeze installed and I am not happy with the program. My computer literacy is 5 of 10. I have no knowledgeable of coding. Essentially, the program should go back to a certain restore point that would appear as if the user never did anything on the computer. Also have no admin privileges so they cannot make changes to computer. [link] [comments]

How to remove item from context menu? Posted: 27 Feb 2019 11:18 AM PST There is a program that I downloaded called SmartGit, which added an item to the context menu (when I right-click the desktop). I can't remove it! I've already used the Registry cleaner in CCleaner, which almost always fixes it for me, but that hasn't worked. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Feb 2019 03:38 AM PST Hi All, I was about to modify/change some settings in the Windows 10 Camera app to change storage location and the quality of the photos and videos, but I got and error saying "Something went wrong: if you need it, here's the error code: 0xA00F4240 <unknown> (0x80004003)". I am with Windows 10 version 1809 Build 17763.134, I never gotten the error until the October update came and broke the camera app. [link] [comments]
