I am unable to opt out of Windows Insider Preview Builds Posted: 01 Feb 2019 10:35 AM PST I joined the Windows Insider Preview program years ago, but I wasn't actually using it. I decided to try it out again, so I re-linked my Microsoft account, and set to Skip Ahead / Fast to get the newest build .. and my game performance took a hit, so I rolled back to the latest public release. Now, I am trying to opt out of Windows Insider Preview Builds, but the option is not working. https://i.imgur.com/jHRE9CF.gifv I have tried opting out and restarting manually, and that doesn't work. I have tried unlinking my Insider Preview account, but that doesn't work either. I have tried contacting Microsoft Support via the "Get Help" in the Settings and two different Microsoft Support technicians were unable to resolve the issue. The latter one told me I would need to reinstall .. which.. while correct advice, I am trying to avoid. I feel like if the option is there to opt out of Windows Insider Preview, it should work. As it is right now, I feel like I'm either going to have to do a fresh install, which I would like to avoid, or remember to pause updates every 7 days for the end of time. Has anybody else run into this issue? [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Feb 2019 07:23 PM PST I use my Asus Windows 10 laptop strictly to play a game called League of Legends. I have no other use for it and there is nothing important to me on the computer. In the last few months however, a problem has presented itself in the form of freezing in game at complete random. When this happens, the environment music of the game still plays but my screen goes black OR my desktop comes up but all keyboard buttons and mouse clicks are completely unresponsive. Due to this, I am forced to use the power button to restart my laptop everytime this happens. The game has become unplayable. Please keep in mind I am not a tech savvy person. I have tried resetting my laptop to factory settings but the freezing still persists. Eventually I contacted tech support with the company (riot games) and I have been working through a troubleshooting process for about a week with the guy. We send each other a couple emails a day. He keeps giving me step by step instructions to uninstall my AMD graphics card from the Device Manager's menu. I have done this twice now. Afterwards I use Windows Update which checks for and reinstalls the graphics card for me. I have done numerous SFC and DISM scans in Command Prompt that all come up saying "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations". After all this, I send the tech guy .zip logs via the 'hextech repair tool' that is offered through the game's website. I do this everytime I complete the process of uninstalling the driver, reinstalling, doing the SFC and DISM scans, and scanning for Windows Updates. The tech guy says that they have narrowed it down to a "driver problem" and "so far the normal ways of reinstalling haven't been able to fix it". He says it is a windows problem and my driver is still corrupted. Now he has asked me to repeat the processes but in SAFE mode and if that doesnt work perhaps completely reinstall windows or contact ASUS support. I have no idea how drivers even become corrupted let alone how to fix these issues. On my end the scans in Command Prompt come through clear but the problem persists. I suppose I am asking for any additional opinions or options/advice since this whole process of emailing back and forth has become such a headache for me and computer problems and fixes are very hard for me to wrap my head around. I think it is worth noting I bought my computer February 15th of last year, and so the laptop is basically new.. I know it was alot of writing, but for anyone who took the time to read it, thank you so much for anything constructive you have to say... [link] [comments]

Should I have C Volume only, and no D volume? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 05:19 PM PST I found out that Linux/GNU distro only have one primary partition, with default installation. So can Windows 10 have only 1 too? If not, why? If yes, whats the impact on me as user? [link] [comments]
Help please : Blue Arrows on my icons won't go away? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 04:16 PM PST My OS drive (C) once got too close to full, so windows started to compress files. After i made considerable free space, and de-selected the "compress files to save space" option in several folders (is there a global option?) the blue arrows are still there. Any ideas? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 10:11 AM PST Good morning! Whenever a windows update is done, my desktop icons are rearranged and my Outlook personalizations for color is reset to colorful from the much less obtrusive dark grey . This is mind blowingly annoying! This is on my work computer and it is very time consuming to undo everything it has done. How do I prevent this from happening? Any help is very much appreciated. I have done some looking online and have yet to come across anything helpful. [link] [comments]
i deleted my laptops isatap adapter, what do i do now? Posted: 01 Feb 2019 03:49 PM PST I don't remember what I was doing, obviously I shouldn't have been doing it, but I deleted my laptops isatap adapter #3. I have no idea what that even is I just know it has something to do with connecting to internet because my laptop can't do that anymore. can anyone tell me how to reinstall the isatap adapter #3 back onto my laptop? I think I was following a tutorial involving internet connection problems and deleted the adapter when I shouldn't have and now I don't know how to get it back. [link] [comments]
Windows 10 Policies on Windows 7 Posted: 01 Feb 2019 07:35 AM PST Good morning all, I am trying to deploy a printer policy for an OU that I have in AD. I've downloaded the Windows 1803 policy template (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=56880) and trying to install it on my Windows 7 host. Is this possible? I know you can create Google chrome policies from a Windows 7 host and deploy it to Windows 10 hosts but there are a little extra steps you have to take. Any and all help is appreciated. Win10 on tablet is in blind/black-white mode. Posted: 01 Feb 2019 07:52 AM PST So my granddad reinstalled his windows on a tablet after some popups, and apparantly got it in blind mode. It was assisted by speech and the visuals were all in black and white. I managed to step through the initial setup process..kinda, but the tablet remains in this ugly big letter black background white letters interface. Any idea on how to disable this? Or should I try to reinstall windows? Its kinda unusable like this.. Also I restarted in safe mode, and i cannot get any of the settings to work (reset, update, ..) keyboard also can no longer be activated after initially logging in. [link] [comments]
Installing new Windows 10 on SSD with old Windows 10? Posted: 31 Jan 2019 11:34 PM PST Hello. I put in a new motherboard yesterday, but now my PC won't boot beyond BIOS. According to my searches, I apparently need to get a new license for Windows 10 to even boot beyond BIOS. Is it safe to install Windows 10 through a USB ISO on the SSD with my old motherboard's Windows 10? I don't know how else I would do it. [link] [comments]
Disabling W7's Application Experience service doesn't let me delete EXE files. Posted: 01 Feb 2019 01:48 AM PST Hello. Recently, I noticed I was having problems deleting my EXE files from my updated 64-bit W7 HPE SP1 desktop PC's SATA HDD. After scanning, chkdsking, etc. without any infections and problems, I finally found out it was caused by "Application Experience" service that I disabled to avoid its annoying telemetries. https://superuser.com/a/521349 confirmed it too. Does anyone have this issue too with their W7 systems? I couldn't reproduce this in a VM. Thank you for reading and hopefully answering. :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Feb 2019 06:36 AM PST Your graphics card Do support OpenGL 2.0. There is something wrong. Probably the old drivers are not supported by windows 10. Maybe you must downgrade to W7 to make the Drivers work properly. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Feb 2019 05:16 AM PST If not, how can I make it so? It'd be preferable if customers couldn't download whatever and whenever they want. [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Jan 2019 09:42 PM PST I have a 256 GB boot drive and a 1TB hard drive, but my boot drive has an 80 GB recovery partition in it that I can't mess with in window's software. Ideal I could delete it and make a new partition or extend my C: drive, but I don't want to mess up my drive. Is there a way to remove or resize that partition? [link] [comments]

Videos are being cut off around edges. This isn't a monitor/overscan issue. Posted: 31 Jan 2019 08:35 PM PST Even when playing videos non-fullscreen it happens. It's not a browser issue either. Local video files and videos from different browsers all do this. I've updated my Radeon graphic's drivers, and that didn't fix it, so I'm not sure what else to do besides a full reinstall. Anyone have any ideas? [link] [comments] |
